Hi the Debit Card especially Maybank 2u.

Is the account for the debit card tied to the Savings account or FD.

Meaning if I lose the card the person can

Take my money from my savings or FD in the bank.

Yes. All these cards are really free for life with no catch. Not really sure if the TACR and UTAR are open only to students though. Anyway, the best debit card from Public Bank now is the ESSO/Mobil VISA debit card because :
- no annual fee
- 0.5% cash back on all transactions excluding petrol (you get 1% cash back at ESSO/Mobil stations but nothing at all other petrol stations)
- can be used for Paypal
- monthly statement
Nice... rclxms.gif

also wan to ask the Pre-authorization amount for pump petrol........ usually how much and how long they will keep the money. smile.gif

Can use to buy games @ steam right? Thank you biggrin.gif

RM200 deposit. It will be cleared within a few days. Usually 3 - 5 working days, based on my experience last time.
About the pre-authorization deposit for the debit card.

So, If I only got RM 100 left on the card and I want to pump petrol RM20.......The card can be declined?

Why do they need a deposit anyway, can't they just deduct the exact amount straight from account

Yes. The card will be declined due to insufficient fund.
This is because when you pay at the kiosk, it won't know how much do you want to pump. This is why they need a deposit first and they will refund the remaining unused balance to your card a few days later.

Alternatively, you can pay at the counter. No deposit required if you do it this way. Pump the fuel first, then go to the counter to swipe your card. Only exact amount will be deducted from your card.

rclxms.gif Thanks for your explanation.

Do they still accept swipe at counter?....because I know if I wan to pump full tank by cash nowadays they will ask me to pay RM50 first then only refund later after pump.

I suspect very few cards fall into that category. Some banks, eg RHB don't even provide that option at all AFAIK.

I don't use PBVE much anymore, but I'm keeping it because of that feature, for internet purchases.

Select Cash Advance. It's not really cash advance but that is the way to withdraw money from your standalone PBB debit card.
