i also enjoying my alliance standard debit mastercard.... 1% cash back on all point-of-sales transaction (capped at rm3000 per month for standard card)....

all i could say it quite reliable too...i'm using it since 2009....only once my transaction did not go through (do not honour)....i dont know why bcoz i've enough balance in my account... but for oversea transaction also very good.. i tried several time in europe & indonesia all very smooth.... but disadvantage for this card cannot perform online transaction...

btw, how much your initial deposit to get platinum card ? written in website minimum is rm20k... standard card design so ugly la...huhu....

out of topic a bit,

just wonder Maybank & Public Bank do not have 24Hours banking lobby (ATM/CDM)...?

inconvenience for debit card holder if we suddenly or urgently want to use it during 12am and above... (example suddenly wanna buy promotional flight ticket because usually they start the sales during midnight 0000...)

for this case,
CIMB & RHB edge Maybank & Public bank since their CDM/ATM do not offline during wee hours....

but for me the best option still Alliance Debit Card + 24Hours banking lobby....just that their number of branches could be improved...
lol just realized their debit card unable to perform online transaction.... doh.gif

how to make formal complain when our card (or their merchant terminal) had problem while in the transaction..

i had two bad experiences last weekend..

1st case 1710, 28Nov
purposely having dinner @ KFC & ordered over rm30 to enable me 1 transaction of debit mastercard promotion of free night stay in genting.

before that i ensure there's mastercard logo accepted @ the KFC's door & there's no notice that they couldnt accept card.

the moment i handed them my card (alliance bank debit mastercard), they gelabah already said card cannot laa.. i said try first... then the cashier tried...& it certainly not working.... i gave my Citibank Visa Debit ATM.... also cannot... then i used cash to settle it... missed opportunity there... if i know i would rather eat at mamak then...

i keep the receipt & requested their manager a Feedback form... now i want to forward the complain to mastercard & visa...

2nd case 1641, 29Nov
this time @ mydin jln masjid india k.lumpur, I purchased groceries total of RM43... i handed my alliance bank debit mastercard... the cashier proceeded with payment, but the merchant terminal keep give msg "Processing Card"... After few tries also still processing card...again i gave my Citibank Visa Debit ATM... still the same thing happened... rclxub.gif

end up paid using cash again... missed opportunity again... Mastercard & Visa promotions & (rebates/points)...

i want to ask Mastercard/Visa how reliable their debit card are? its not card or chip issue since in between that two events I successfully swiped @ petrol station, SOGO & hotel & my funds more than enough even with pre-authorized been applied to my card... today also i swiped successfully....


so 3 parties i want to address the complain should be:
1) merchants (KFC, MYDIN)
2) banks
3) Visa/Mastercard

when transaction didnt go through & took long time, i sometime felt embarrassed... did u all feel the same ?? sure peoples queuing up behind us said "why dont use cash...faster...dont have money kaa ??"

with only three receipts minimum rm30 purchase using debit mastercard @ BHPetrol will entitled the cardholder to redeem 1 Nite genting stay & RM10 BHPetrol cash voucher !!! ...but i dunno this promotion will be extended or not becoz it mention end at 30Nov... cry.gif

most KFC are like that one....only a few KFC make their card payment facility ready & available all the time... i know which so from now on i target the same KFC only la becoz at that particular KFC always no problem & no such hassle in accepting card payment...

sometime the signboard not only accept mastercard but prefer mastercard...i assume they prefer mastercard more than cash la kann...huhuhu...

e-Mastercard from CIMB... i deposited rm30... i made cash access and purchase @ Giant (rm9 purchase + rm21 cash access) to ZERO my account balance......thats the only transaction i ever made using my e-Mastercard from CIMB....

suddenly rm1 service charge for cash access fee appear in the statement... so my balance become negative RM1.... but the statement unlike credit card, no due date... so i assumed just let it be there la...becoz when i've free time, i want to cancel this useless card & pay this rm1 (useless becoz we cannot withdraw out our money once put in there)....

now in the latest statement got Late charges !!!! of RM5 !!!! ... whattthefaak ? debit card also got late charge ?? thats 500% of my outstanding of RM1.... plus in the statement, they never mention any due date ?? so how come i can be charged as "late" since there's no due date ??? mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

settled already... they already reversed the "late charge"...but not the rm1 CashAccess fee...


another facts (prior before the above issue was settled):
they eventually block my debit e-mastercard cards because i've outstanding of RM1 (cashaccess fee) + RM5 (late charges) prior to settle this issue... i deposited rm170 during wee hour (3AM)... the next morning (11am) i expected to use the card for my maxis bill payment... my card was declined.. i called call centre, at first they said due to insufficient balance...i said WTH ?? i already deposited cash at their CDM machine... she said, my card balance still outstanding rm6.. deposit between 12am-6am will only reflect in the debit card account after two days.. not immediately or after 6am.. i like shakehead.gif ??? doh.gif ...she said it's standard for their debit card..

then ok la... i deposited another rm170 to the account on the spot @ CIMB's CDM & returned back to maxis to pay my bills... guess what ?? still declined... i like, WTF mad.gif !! ... I called call centre again... this time they said my card available balance already RM164, but it was blocked because of i've outstanding of RM6 previously & even though i already just deposited RM170 , my card couldnt be unblocked automatically or immediately... it required at least 2 days after deposit (payment) only can automatically unblock... i said WTH ??? shakehead.gif ... i ask her whether she can unblock manually for me since i already deposited twice of the amount RM170 (total my money in there was rm340) ... she said cannot because my card was blocked under type B or something (in their system) & cannot be manually unblock.. doh.gif

so there u go, my money stucked in there, cannot withdraw, cannot make transaction, cannot unblock.. i must at least wait for another two days... so drive with plenty of angers, i immediately went to CIMB card centre (it was weekend that day) in Pavillion (which open during weekend)... I want to burst all my anger straight in front of their face... luckily the sikh lady officer there was apologetic and she sincerely pleaded for apology on behalf of CIMB bank... but she also couldn't do anything regards to the unbock thinggy... so, even went card centre also cannot unblock immediately... in my heart, i say maybe CIMB CEO can unblock it for me or maybe just GOD...haha... so i waited la for two days only, finally it can be used...

so we see how useless this cimb debit e-mastercard.... i used this card at that particular time because i want to fully utilize collect 5 receipts for Free nite stay in genting voucher.... so i used several multiple cards at the same place so i can redeem a few set even though I swiped at the same merchant...

so, conclusion, after this promotion period finish, there's high possibility i'll throw this card away..

Guys, this is useful information regards to fueling petrol at petrol station pump kiosk using Mastercard or Visa.

After my very own survey/study/observation, only Esso-Mobil allows to choose preset amount at the pump terminal itself instead of normal pre-authorized amount of RM200 or rm150. No need to go to the cashier inside the pump station. What u need to do is at their pump's card terminal, first u need to select Preset, and then key in your desired amount and enter. After that only u slot in your debit (or credit) Mastercard/Visa to the terminal card slot. Wait for authorization. Transaction will be accepted if your available balance greater than your preset amount.. (i even tried RM2 amount to fuel my motorbike, its still successful & accepted ..haha biggrin.gif ) ... Afterwards, remove your debit (or credit) card, put in loyalty card (smiles card) to earn points. Then, remove the loyalty card & begin fueling.. It will stop at the amount u preset... Finish fueling, put back the pump handle to its place, collect your printed receipt at the pump terminal itself. Convenience right ? Just pay what u need to fuel... Avoid unnecessary pre authorized amount been hold for 4 or 5 days... Its our own money... rclxms.gif ...

bravo to Esso-Mobil... they also have the best loyalty card system, smiles card. Earn 1 point with every RM1 spend... U can redeem RM15 of petrol for 1000 points (and u can also combine two smiles-cards to redeem petrol or anything inside On-The-Run store)... All in all, better than petronas kad mesra, shell bonuslink, BHPetrol eCard..

So, conclusion, petrol station which allows preset amount for petrol purchase using MasterCard/Visa Card at the pump's card terminal itself without having need to go to cashier terminal inside:


Esso-Mobil: YES thumbup.gif

Petronas: NO (no such preset button). Preset amount only can be done with normal old Maybank Kawanku ATM Card (Yellow/black or KawankuCard). Must key in ATM Pin number first & will consider as E-Debit transaction.

Shell: NO (they got preset button at the pump terminal, but it still will pre authorized your account)

BHPetrol: NO (no such preset button)

Caltex: NO (they got preset button at the pump terminal, but it still will pre authorized your account)


hope this info will benefit all of us because we know, by using debit card, the pre-authorize amount sometime affect our cash flow... smile.gif

at esso & mobil, any debit card from any bank (include credit cards) u can use to preset the amount u required to fuel at the pump terminal itself...

DO NOT enter the card first... please select button Preset as indicate in the screen... it's the second from top if i'm not mistaken...the screen will ask u the amount to preset, then u need to enter your desired amount using the numeric keypad...& then press enter.... the screen then will ask u to insert the payment card for RM__ (which u already preset)... then only u need to slot in your card... example if u preset rm50, & your available balance is rm50, the transaction should go through... no need to have rm200 in your account...

another issue,

maxis meps kajang refuse my debit card because of no name embossed on the card !! they said got issues peoples swiped debit card which not belong them... & then later got complain from the debit card owner... shakehead.gif

so how ?? i said, it's standard practice debit card issuer will not embossed the name on card ... they said cannot also... WTH ?? i said can i write it myself using pen or marker ??? haha... lol.. whistling.gif stupid la...

at Esso pump terminal the simplify steps are:

1) Preset desired amount (key in & enter)
2) Slot in debit/credit card (remove the card after been authorized)
3) Slot in Smiles loyalty card (remove the card after been authorized)
4) Start fueling rclxms.gif

yes shell pump terminal procedure inverse because it ask to slot bonuslink card first... but as for my survey, i never able to preset desired amount if using debit(or credit) card at pump terminal in any shell station... unless go to the cashier counter terminal...
