I said the media player decoding of sound into stereo was not as good as I expected. However, the Plasma's sound was very good.

On the other hand, since I am a newbie, it could be my setting being the culprit instead.

Not bad the 47SL90QD.
Compare with the latest model, the only drawback I see is only 1 HDMI input.
How much the price?

AFAIK, there are no true LED TV available commercially at the moment, so called LED TV are actually LCD TV with LED backlit/edge-lit. Full HD are those with resolution of 1920x1080 pixels while HD Ready are those below that, usually 1366x768 pixels. You can see my HDTV Blog to get a general idea.

NMay diff kah on the panel origin?

With the current globalisation trend, most panels probably mass prodcued from China, Taiwan & lesser in japan and imported by those Giant Japan or Korean brand as if their own.

For eg..Sony is actually using either Samsung/sharp panels
Pansonic probably having their own @ Osaka but probabl;y having OEM from China or Vietnam too
Phillip...wellknown using LG.
Sharp might be having their OEM from Taiwan too..

Whatever plasma or LCD you are discussing here with different backlight and color technology...... they can't beat the commercial or medical use monitor lah...... e.g. http://radiforce.com/en/products/index.html

If you want beyond HD and with accurate color and picture calibration, go for that if you got $.

But picture turn up too be ugly, e.g. in the L&E model even bluray because bluray resolution too low!!!

no love for Philips LED TV?

i just bought the 40PFL5605S/98 @ RM3350 from Megatex. yes i know it's a bit expensive than your local electrical shop but my parents insisted me buying from there. zzz.

overall it's ok, with LED backlighting and 100hz refresh rate. but what i don't fancy is the menu laggyness. the remote control is quite ok, better from what i saw on the net regarding this LCD TV. (i think the one they reviewed an old version of this TV perhaps)

I've compared Philips LED alongside LG LED(LE5500), watching a football match with players running in close-up, I can see that LG has a better image, Philip has a blurrish scene somehow...

Just bought a Samsung LA40C530, after a whole day running around JB got it for RM 1899. Luckily didn't bought it from Courts due to stock finish & the price were Rm 2899 just only free a bluray player & rebate Rm 170.
