Giant 3 days ago till Y'day offerinmg Samsung 42' PS42C431 Plasma TV for only RM1698 (Was told Today back to RM2K ++)..I think this is the cheapest Plasma in the market dy & I grabbed it. Too bad only 3HDMI compare to my old 42' Panasonic 42" Plasma having 3HDMI that I can used for UNIFI TV, Astro Byond & AC Ryan media player..sigh..

Anyway happy wth my purchase as the colour is much better than Panasoinic Plasma & comparing Samsung 5series Full HD LCD 40" side by side here is my review:

1) Both also stunning and LCD less glaring and brighter at straight angle (I almost decided on LCD at this point)

2) At side angle, Plasma win flat on the Full HD..no fight at all. LCD side angle really cacat

3) LCD..screen feel plasticky & liquid when press. Plasma is Hard & smooth glass feel -solid.

At the end still choos Plasma..haha esp knowing that lotsa Astro channels still on SD and once you are on SD channels, LCD sure letdown as my past ancient LCD..

FYI, generally, there are 2 LCD types..one is hard panel , one is soft panel.Hard panel if see from side, it is still the same, for soft panel some LCD when u c at side, it will have different colors from original. Then , if compare to Plasma tv, plasma tv has higher maintenance fee than LCD. ^^. Correct me if im wrong..=)

I think he is referring to the higher power consumption of Plasma vs LCD. I am not sure I am calculating it right but here I go....

Panasonic 42" Plasma vs LCD

Plasma uses 230W. 5 hours use 1.15KW @ 30 sen/KW(?). RM0.35 or less
LCD uses 140W. 5 hours use 0.7KW or RM0.21 fixed.

No, I don't think I will lose any sleep over this higher 'maintenance fee'.

True. But I don't like the picture quality of LCD nor can I stand the glare of LED so I wouldn't bother switching them on. So what to do?

i used to reject plasma for the same reason. But I'm totally reversed now after seeing the Pana P42V20K surface..

LED is not glaring at all if you look at LG's LE5500

so, yeah..choices are there now!

Thinking of merging this to existing thread.

Anyway..Just trust your eye..and if you like Plasma, buy plasma and if you want LCD, just grab it-lah..

For me I always watch LCD from sideway beside my desktop that I'm typing right now..If I buy LCD, I will regret most of my time bcos of the lousy angle view & furthermore, watching SD channels using LCD..darm cacat..

So I choose Plasma...
