QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Feb 6 2011, 09:28 AM) In short, in normal or dim room, nothing beats Plasma for watching MOVIES in term of picture quality and price. Not even the far more expensive LED. Many people do not realize that. Agree, and this is why I am getting another plasma, was watching LG(Full HD LCD) in my sister's house, and I could feel the strain in my eyes...ok, granted it was not a calibrated set, but still rather taxing on my plasma-trained eyes.

QUOTE(podrunner @ Feb 6 2011, 09:41 PM) So what is the appeal of LED again? Sex appeal. It's slim and expensive and touted as latest technology, never mind picture quality is not as good as Plasma in normal to dim room. In brightly lighted room, they generally are the better choice.

Hi, i need the best of the best suggestions about LCD/PLASMA TV i can get! Budget - NO MORE THAN RM2000 Size - BIGGER BETTER!!! Resolution - Hoping to get 1080p! Full HD! I don't want any blur please! basically, i have zero knowledge about TV. The rest not necessary be premium features like beautiful color, shading. P.S : i hope this is about the right place to ask for suggestion. This post has been edited by dwks: Feb 7 2011, 05:53 AM

And yes, screen reflection is the No.1 problem of Plasma. Some LED has the same amount of reflection as Plasma. LCD have the least reflection. But on picture quality in normal/dim room, Plasma has the best and LCD the worst. One way out is to draw the curtain during day time viewing or more evening time viewing. I am seeing two vertical lines while watching Chelsea vs. Liverpool last night and this only can be seen during match time....any experience before or I am suspecting some defect on Philips LED PFL5605? When background is dark cannot be seen, all normal....hmmm sad!

I would suggest a BD player rather than a DVD player with HDMI. This is because you can get a BD player from as low as RM350 while a branded DVD player with HDMI starts typically from RM299. Unless you want to play VCD but watching VCD on HDTV is very painful to the eyes! Entry level BD players includes Samsung BD-C5500, LG BD550, Philips BD3100, Sony BDP-S370, etc. Each has its pros and cons but many people here find the Samsung C5500 the best value for money.
