U need to set the APN urself after rooting.I'm not sure how to set for Maxis but www.digi.com.my provide the guide to set the APN.

is anyone having a problem where when you search for application (pressing the physical search button on the app list), the keyboard appears for a while and the google voice search immediately replaces the keyboard? its kinda annoying bcoz i want to use the keyboard.

btw. is there a way to sync contacts in my phone to my Google Acc Gmail??? I backuped by contacts on the phone with MYBACKUP.. and Delete all my contacts in Gmail using my pc... then Retrieve all my contacts through MYBACKUP again.... but it doesnt sync with my g account.. still 0 contacts in my gmail....

Install radio just like you install custom ROM. Check http://is.gd/5TE2H and follow the instruction from No 13.

Download the *.zip, put in inside your sdcard, flash it as you flash a custom ROM.

do u guys hv this problem where the 3G and EDGE signal keep switching? sometime i suppose to hv a strong 3G signal but instead i get H signal with 1 or 2 bars and when the signal too weak, it switch to EDGE like what happen to Nexus One here?

I already tried few radio version, most of them only marginally improve but still mostly the same. In fact 95% of the time i nvr see 3G signal in my phone, only H, E and G while my old nokia phone always full bar in 3G signal at the same place, why is that???

afaik, the H means you're on HSDPA which is basically 3g. and yes if the 3g signal is too weak the phone will switch and use E, which is EDGE or G, GPRS.

now days its hard to find a pure 3g signal which is UMTS cos every telco is upgrading their 3G to HSDPA (3.5G).

My magic (DiGi) does that, at office (mid valley) and at home (subang jaya). I just realized this week that if I switch my phone to 2g only, the battery life more than doubles, previously it usually gets to yellow when I got home from work after charging it overnight, but now its still green after 2 days!

And I have tried turning off the "mobile network" to make sure its not the syncing that's sucking my battery life, but that doesn't make much difference.

but why my old nokia5800 show 3G signal at the same place and not 3.5G? i still feel that HTC radio is not strong. when at home and not using mobile internet, i hv to set it to 2G only to get full signal, if not the signal will switch between H (poor signal) and E or even G at 2G netowrk only. Also on E, i feel that the connection is more stable, even u put the phone inside ur pocket. On H connection when put inside u pocket, most of the time there will be no connection until u take out the phone again, btw im on celcom network.

I also want to know why my old symbian phone have UTMS only and GSM only, but seems like android does not have 3g only.

after rooting, all my sms & contacts gone, OI manager also gone. then i tot wanna do Restore, then everything went back before rooting. wat went wrong? got back up, but after rooting no restore? how?


and still no bluetooth file transfer..very frustrating. any apps to download for bluetooth transfer?

If you look at ur ppl contact, u will see a contact type on each ppl.
if you copy ur contact from the sim or PC. ur contact type will be "phone"
in this case, ur contact wouldn't sync with Google mail Acc.

if you create manually or copy from Google, ur contact type will be "google"
in this case, ur contact would sync with Google mail Acc.


MCR3.0 is not coming with chinese input, currently the latest chinese input for MCR rom is 2.8. correct me if i'm wrong.
i saw some chinese pin yin input software in the market.
i'm not sure if you dl those software it will offer chinese input to u in MCR3.0
u might wan to have a try.


i blif the backup u mentioned above is the nandroid backup.
this is kind of image backup same like ghosting your windows.
it will restore everything that including the rom.
u can't use this to restore ur msg or contact. u have to use mybackup or other software to backup those msg u needed.

bluethooth file transfer is not available yet, maybe 2.1 eclair.

Thanks danny 83, but i read from another forum says tat 2.1 eclair still CANT do bluetooth file transfer. haiz..disappointed la...

so in this case, after rooting, how should i restore my previous sms, contacts etc? sorry i ask alot of questions cuz i really have no idea on all these.

u have to use the "mybackup" software or other backup software like "sprite" to backup the sms and contacts before u flash and wipe ur rom.
then u can keep the backup in ur pc and restore it once u completely performed the flash by copying to the phone and use the same software to restore.

tried Mybackuppro & sprite.. failed to recover my home shortcuts..& scenes....anyone has good advise?

Any tips in improving the video quality played by the Youtube player in Hero? So far the quality is just unacceptable.. couldnt continue watching with it...
