Read it will be available locally in mid-September.
Thinking of getting an iPhone 3Gs, however the availability and the waiting game is killing my interest. I might get this Hero instead.

Mid-Sept as from http://bit.ly/Gp9Ip though. Priced at RM2399 and if iPhone 3Gs is not available by early October, I'll hit HTC Hero straight away.
My main concern then will be the essential screen and body protector. |

From several news sites, the price will be RM2399. Oh oh the phone is coming next week? I'm excited XD
With the new update circulating at XDA, I'm very itchy to play with it. Bye bye iPhone, welcome Hero. |

Oh my... How bad is Android Market actually? Based on my visit to http://www.android.com/ only, I'd say it's mildly bad.
Being 50-50, the striking goodness of iPhone's apps certainly pull me to Apple's side. But again, QUOTE Check out our site for some of the more popular applications and games available in Android Market. For a comprehensive, up-to-date list of the thousands of titles that are available, you will need to view Android Market on a handset. I really cannot decide. |

chkhoo76, did you test it with the latest update? It's here.
How about the UI? Is it consistent across various third-party apps? How about the trackball? Do you think the ball will be easily spoiled, like Sony Ericsson's stick on K series? I saw some Facebook menu/entries in Hero (specifically from it's Stay Close video). Is it as nice as Facebook app in iPhone? And someone is selling HTC Hero at RM2500. Check out here! Only if you are interested of getting it earlier :-)
I talked to a shop in KLCC, they said the price may be at RM2800 something. I personally hope that the price won't be that high. At RM2800 I'd rather get an iPhone 3GS instead. |

I'm reading xda, and found out that playing around Android is so much adventurous and fun. If the price is right (please god not RM2800), iPhone 3GS is still NA, I'm certain Hero is my next phone :-)
Previously toying with my SE W series phone, you know updating firmware, change camera driver and add flash menu, I feel very much fascinated. Now I'm reading more on rooting, custom ROMs and such. I can't wait to get one. |

Finally, the official update from HTC. Read more at http://bit.ly/8TvSr
I heard they fix the lagging issue. Oh my sweet. Downloaded those required files to update and root the Hero. Now waiting for the phone to arrive here :-) |

Both Ptolemy and Aristotle thought that the Earth is the center of the universe.
They were wrong :-( |

Just came back from HTC shop at KLCC, and they still don't have any exact date for SIS warranty Hero, and they didn't bring any non-SIS phone neither :-(
And to my amusement, they said now is the prime time for Magic, as they are pushing Magic to as many customer as possible. HTC Hero? Not quite yet :-( Haiz. I hope I can rely from other shop with SIS warranty. On the other note, I just played with Magic, and yes the touch screen is not as sensitive as iPhone. I actually scrubs the screen to move around the screen. Not as 'barely touch' to operate an iPhone. |

Oh is it? Then I guess no point waiting for SIS warranty then. I might as well buy it from garage sales :-) RM2500. At least it's much more cheaper than the projected price, RM2800 (according to Action KLCC branch)
But wait. How about confirmed hardware problem? Touch screen or maybe trackball failure. I don't think rooting will cause that kind of hardware problem. However, from my reading at xda, they say you can always get back to your official ROM, thus you can get your warranty back. |

Darkmage12, of course it Magic. naTTan was talking about Magic from the start. We are discussing about the expensive SIS warranty, compared to CIMB's offer. naTTan took the Magic as a comparison :-)
And by the time HTC Hero hits our shore, I hope FlexiShield is here too. I read at HTC Hero Fb discussion http://bit.ly/y59jx and it receives good reviews, and there is a vid review at youtube http://bit.ly/WMO85 |

I have a good news guise!
I called SIS Distribution just now, and they told me that HTC Hero is ready for purchase! They shipped stocks to shops this morning and by afternoon the phone will be available to us, well probably tomorrow (to allow shops to sort their stocks). Uh oh I should get my money ready XD |

ElmI, I then called Action KLCC, and they said next week (Mon/Tue) I'll go to Lowyat Plaza this noon to buy a case. If NA, I'll probably source FlexiShield from ebay.
Evirober, where is DM? Digital Mall? About the camera, does Hero has the 'touch to focus' feature like the iPhone? With iPhone you can choose what to focus by touching it on the screen. |

Woot. I just came back from LYP, and I booked a set of brown HTC Hero!
The price is RM2399 SIS warranty, paid the deposit RM50 and tomorrow I'll collect during lunch hour :-) I saw several Hero boxes wrapped with deposit papers, and I was the 8th. Hoho. If time permit I'll do some photo ops later when unboxing :-) |

ElmI, nope. My plan is to buy a slightly bigger screen protector (I have Capdase iPhone anti-fingerprint screen protector in mind - bought & applied it previously on my mum's iPhone 3GS. It feels very nice to slide on it) and cut it according to Hero's screen. Unless I can find a Hero specific screen protector tomorrow.
Case, I'm going to buy a FlexiShield. Source it from ebay. In the mean time, I think I'll wrap it with thin wrapper (my office use it for DHL) just to keep nasty tiny hard scratchy dirts from touching my Hero. Kindly update us when you find Hero specific accessories :-) k8118k, no problem boss. I'm looking forward to deal you in the future :-) |

Now that's beautiful XD~
Do you update your Hero with the latest official 2.73.405.5 update? How about the accessories? The screen protector? The casing? |

Well I guess the lagging is obvious only when you setup many widgets across the 7 scenes :-)
Oh what is the class of the supplied 2GB? Class 4 or 6? Edit: Eh have you tested syncing contacts with Outlook? And how about downloading emails from office's email system (Outlook)? This post has been edited by LEVIATHAN: Sep 16 2009, 01:04 AM |
