I just got my Hero Last week! it's been 4 dyas old now, seems fine with me.

i've read this thread thru for bout 2 hours dy, basically i might wanna root my Hero. but still dono which ROM to choose from. MoDaCo? XDA? btw, i need chinese input. hehe. help...

however, wat's my biggest disappointment to this phone is it cant Transfer Files with Bluetooth! i need it very much as i need to trasfer files and contacts from my old K810i.

so my question is, is there any way i can use bluetooth to transfer files? rooting is ok with me AS LONG IT WORKS! or it has an app for tis?

please help!

oh ya, n one funny thing i notice my sms time all messed up. receive and sent sequence all messed up!! if the sms was received yesterday, it only display "Yesterday" and no specific time and date.

i m half way there to root my Hero!

how install the radio in it? copy the patch before rooting or after rooting?

i totally dono a thing! but i hope to hav the radion function la. hahaha

thanks Levi!! i've rooted my Hero with MCR 3.0 already.

but dont hav chinese input! so i havta re-root wf 2.8 again? or any thing i can install? haiz..


after rooting, all my sms & contacts gone, OI manager also gone. then i tot wanna do Restore, then everything went back before rooting. wat went wrong? got back up, but after rooting no restore? how?


and still no bluetooth file transfer..very frustrating. any apps to download for bluetooth transfer?

frustrated...sienz..

MCR3.0 is not coming with chinese input, currently the latest chinese input for MCR rom is 2.8. correct me if i'm wrong.
i saw some chinese pin yin input software in the market.
i'm not sure if you dl those software it will offer chinese input to u in MCR3.0
u might wan to have a try.
i blif the backup u mentioned above is the nandroid backup.
this is kind of image backup same like ghosting your windows.
it will restore everything that including the rom.
u can't use this to restore ur msg or contact. u have to use mybackup or other software to backup those msg u needed.

bluethooth file transfer is not available yet, maybe 2.1 eclair.

Thanks danny 83, but i read from another forum says tat 2.1 eclair still CANT do bluetooth file transfer. haiz..disappointed la... sad.gif

so in this case, after rooting, how should i restore my previous sms, contacts etc? sorry i ask alot of questions cuz i really have no idea on all these.

What if something goes wrong in this step?


12. Wipe your Hero. How: Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset. Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache.
Note: Factory reset. You know it.


i had error while wiping Dalvik-cache. what does it mean? (i stoped here restore the whole thing again. back to square one) sigh

hi all, i just rooted my hero wf mcr 2.8(with chinese) and did all the APN settings folloed kiwlm's instructions.

weird thing is i can surf net wf WAP but still cant mms. dono why?

i even called digi center a few times but still cant..dono what went wrong..

yes i did follow all the instructions. i even called digi center 4 times to do the setting, but all failed!!(though it's the same settings)

i tot is the baseband problem cuz i flashed it wf 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26, but even if i flash it back to original 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 also cannot.

how??? btw wat is apandroid software?

i found my mistake, i din set DIGI Internet. instead, i jz set DIGI wap and DIGI mms. (tat's wat digi center tought me). so to all other hero users tat needs to set APNsetting follow closely kiwlm's teachings. digi center also wont help!!!!!!!!
