QUOTE(NanaLiew @ Apr 7 2011, 12:54 AM) applied jpa medicine hopefully can be a med student soon! If you are after SPM, you still have to go thru your pre-university exams and secure a place in a med skol. STPM or A levels, I dont think JPA has such a scheme unless you secure one in the Ivy league. Even that is subjective. Anyway, good luck to you.

Need some help here. Anybody knows why adding large amounts of potassium(50mM) to smooth muscle organs (uterus, stomach, bladder) results in a large contraction?

I guess if you give directly large amount of K+ to the smooth muscle may help the muscle to get depolarized faster...and result in "large contraction"....I guess this will lead to muscle spasm to your smooth muscle organs?!

So Ca2+ concentration will increase in the cytosole? and then its the cross bridge cycle?

The potential will reach threshold faster and action potential will be generated in higher frequency therefore continuos contraction will be achieved.ca cycle is for cross bridging for contraction. That's why i guess muscle spasm may occur. Correct me if im wrong.

Thanks in advance regarding above, i've used chaurasia before and i think it's quite good...really simple to understand and made revising a breeze! especially the clinical references... i was wondering also if anyone has done their clinical attachments?? mind sharing your experiences please...much much appreciated... Housemanship? everyone does that. But if you are referring to practicals prior to graduating... then yes. Here is an example: http://jknsabah.moh.gov.my/v3/modules/cont...index.php?id=19

Like last time people from indon/russia did their practical lessons during their break back at malaysia and a few years later MMC said that one should do their practical lesson at the place where he/she is studying right? So yeah today our president said that its official that we get to do our practicals back at home. Thats what i meant

http://mmc.gov.my/v1/docs/MINIMUM%20CRITERIA%20V2.pdfOkay i just saw this. They are saying that as of April 12 if anyone desires to enter med school must have a minimum of 5B in spm ( add math chem bio phy and math ) 3.0 > in foundation and so on right. So for those who joined med school before april 12 goes by the old ruling of 5credits , 3.0 and recognized uni? And i got a friend which is leaving to indon soon. Sometime aug (which is after april 12) and he doesnt have the 5b's , but he'd get into a recognized uni by msia. Upon graduating , can he work back home ? he has a recognized degree , or will they still look at his spm even tho he is a doctor that has graduated by their listing. hmm irony much This post has been edited by NatBass: Jun 3 2011, 07:28 AM
