QUOTE(CyberSetan @ Mar 12 2010, 11:31 PM) No , its not like that. I just wanna know more about the mmc examination. I;ve got a few seniors who scored straight a and they are pursuing medicine in russia/romania/cuba. As far as i know cuba and romania are listed under the mmc board. But yes , i know its not advice to study at a uni which is approved by the board. |

Easier to pass? That im not sure.
The price in romania is about 180k. Qualification is secondary , The b4 rule still apply. But you know malaysia , i know people who obtained 2c (admath bio) doing med. Anything is possible Mostly people do @ europe so that they can work in EU i guess. Finally , someone answered my question without crap. Wgy , you doing medic too? where? and whats USMLE? Probably the unrecognized uni is the international passport to get out of MY and work elsewhere? |

My most sincere salutations to everyone.
Can i know what are the differences between "MD" and "MBBS" ? Well im a future medical student . Currently doing my foundation in science. My agent has opened me to bangladesh (mbbs) indon (md ) and russia . I dont think i'll be going to russia. My cousins there are suffering to learn their language. Im curious , are there any graduates from bangladesh? (Im sorry if this sounds dumb , but its my first time hearing about b'desh) Thanks in advance |

cygoh9 - Is it the one which MS Mohamad wrote? Well im still up for medic
zstan - Yes im aware of the difference in that term. Is there more towards it. I rang up the mmc today. Bdesh indon and russia . All three are listed so hence i can practice medicine here without sitting for the exam. Apparently there are a lot of graduates from bdesh and (usu-indon) thats what the dr from the mmc department told me. This post has been edited by NatBass: May 19 2010, 03:47 AM |

these things are very political. Well its true what they say . In malaysia , its about your contacts , you survive if you know bigshots. I know 2 students doing medicine in bangladesh. 1 arts strm and another one science. The science girl just obtain all D in spm. Rich family. They told me classes are conducted in bengali , exams are held in english. so in other words they study from their text book and answer exams. it doesnt make a difference if they attend class or not. After passing the whole degree just come back and show mmc its a degree from a recognize uni and start working
Anyways - Seniors , im sure you'd heard of mantoux test right. 10mm is the normal reading for a person with tb negative? So anything more then 10mm is positive? how do one confirm that he/she has tb? besides chest x-ray? im sure mantoux test can go false-positive due to BGC injection and the air you breathe? |

would it make a difference if the doctor didnt wait for 48-72hours before analyzing the mantoux test?
It can be detected by ESR too right? if im not mistaken for males in general the esr reading is 10< female 20 < ? and in general if you have an active lung infection the level of haemoglobin is lower compared to normal , no? Speaking about pulmonary TB here. Dont get me wrong , im not trying to be a pain in the butt here , its just that a cousin of mine was suppose to go to australia this friday and unfortunatey we found out that he had active lung infection. I followed him around during my free time , we had like 4 opinions. 2 gp said he had nothing and perfectly fine. 2more said otherwise. Today he went to umsc , to get a respiratory professors final confirmation. He has to go for CT-scan later in the morning. No symptoms of tb are shown. No weight loss or whatsoever. I'll try to post up the pictures of the x-ray once i get a hold of it for the fun of it I've heard of stories like the medication of tb last for 4-9 months and side effects are insane. Liver failure , jaundice and so on? Cyber - thanks for being so proactive and posting up a picture. I cant wait for my time in med school This post has been edited by NatBass: Feb 22 2011, 03:42 AM |

He did an x-ray first. Then mantoux test. It was blistering , doctor did an ESR , his reading was 12. Low lvl of haemoglobin. Today they did the ct-scan to finalize. endobronchial tuberculosis was the conclusion of the ct-scan. He is on Forecox-trac and vitamin B. 4 pills of antiB and 1VitB in the morning , daily. hah 5 tablets per day , wow? 6months he has to undergo medications. ah i finally got a hang of the x-ray. will try to get a decent picture of it with the reports. Does intravenous therapy works faster? Btw he has no main symptoms. No weight loss , no cough , no constant fever.
Quantiferon-TB gold assay - read about it on wiki. Aha , i've not heard anyone speak about this until now. Impressive. add on : Ct-scan said that there was a tree-in-bud sign http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY0uMduI8I8 So i guess the tb bacteria isnt active since no symptoms are shown? QUOTE(tqeh @ Feb 23 2011, 12:42 PM) Nah , his parents didnt allow him. Anyhow there is a 2nd batch going sometime 10th march. If they can see improvement by then , he might go probably. I saw him today , he is on his first day of medications today. Colour of urine turned to orange in the morning. Towards the end of the day the colour was becoming lighter. He had massive diarrhoea , After consuming food. I think after 10-15mins he has to go to the toilet. Poor guy , i feel so irritated looking at him. A healthy lad indeed , idk how he got exposed. I think the medications are very strong. he is often dehydrated . (all this after consuming the medications) i guess his kidneys are really filtering/removing some massive stuff here. A family doctor asked him to get a medicine/supplement called transfer factor. It is to boost up your immune system , according to him he has seen massive changes of his patients |

QUOTE(CyberSetan @ Jun 3 2011, 03:04 AM) As in what? Housemanship? everyone does that. Nop , im not speaking about housemanship. Practicals prior to graduating. Like last time people from indon/russia did their practical lessons during their break back at malaysia and a few years later MMC said that one should do their practical lesson at the place where he/she is studying right? So yeah today our president said that its official that we get to do our practicals back at home. Thats what i meant But if you are referring to practicals prior to graduating... then yes. Here is an example: http://jknsabah.moh.gov.my/v3/modules/cont...index.php?id=19 |

Okay i just saw this. They are saying that as of April 12 if anyone desires to enter med school must have a minimum of 5B in spm ( add math chem bio phy and math ) 3.0 > in foundation and so on right. So for those who joined med school before april 12 goes by the old ruling of 5credits , 3.0 and recognized uni? And i got a friend which is leaving to indon soon. Sometime aug (which is after april 12) and he doesnt have the 5b's , but he'd get into a recognized uni by msia. Upon graduating , can he work back home ? he has a recognized degree , or will they still look at his spm even tho he is a doctor that has graduated by their listing. hmm irony much This post has been edited by NatBass: Jun 3 2011, 07:28 AM |

QUOTE(DireAnguish5678 @ Jun 3 2011, 09:00 AM) it's really sad that it's come to this. i personally want to encourage people to follow their dreams, not barred them from practicing after they graduate. Maybe malaysian school leavers need some serious counselling about career options. So its a black and white situation where he wont be absorbed by the msian government? There will be alot of issues in the upcoming 6 years. Im sure solely due to money the agent will accept any sort of results and hence those who arent aware of the current happening will get effected. By the way , speaking of those days , my uncle is a arts stream student and now he is a doctor. Doing well. He is in his mid 40's. Medicine isnt some rocket science. Quote from haya " We need all our doctors to be proficient and competent " Is good enough. |
