Hmm, no ppl buy my stuff, finally tested today.
211bclk x 19 = 4ghz with DDR3 2110mhz c8-8-8.

Usually I'll use small fft for CPU only stress and then blend for CPU-RAM stress.

Small fft test will stress your cpu temperature hotter than the blend test.
*
ya, i do notice tat small fft is hotter lot.. so, how long to stress cpu and ram consider stable?

Custom blend with max amount of free memory will only stress the dram.
I always prefer 6hrs run bcos most of the time the wrong dram timing will produce error at 3hrs. tFAW should b set to 30 to pass this 3hrs priming.
As for LinX, lower tRCD set read to read (same rank) and write to write (same rank) prefer 6 ie. from 7-8-7-20 to 7-7-7-20
Good luck!

Added on July 27, 2010, 10:53 amAt least 20 runs for LinX.

I would like to ask you all about ocing an i5 750. I am currently running it at 3.2Ghz with turbo on. I think I want to push further (and turn off turbo) but I can't prime95 it on 1.252v 180x20. I am using a P55-GD65 and running DDR3 1333 that is somewhat limiting me but I did run them at DDR3 1600 for a long time now.

A few days ago I watch my friend's (known as Lucky_n00b in overclocker's world) extreme overclocking experiments, Clarkdale Core i5 661 (default clock 3.3 Ghz) with Liquid Nitrogen.. On his experiment, he was using this test bed:
CPU : Intel Core i5 661 ‘Clarkdale’, batch# L39B608
Motherboard : MSI Big Bang Fuzion
Memory : A-Data XPG DDR3-1866+ v2.0 ,1Ă—2GB single channel
Graphics Card : GeForce 6200 256MB PCI
Hard Disk : WD Velociraptor 300GB
Power Supply : Antec TP Quattro 1200W OC Edition
Operating System : Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
CPU Cooling : K|ngp|n F1 EE Nickel Edition LN2 Container
Others : CoolerMaster Test Bench v1.0

user posted image

At that time, he managed to reach 6.6 GHz clock speed..
user posted image

Unfortunately, because he still not satisfied with the result, he does not show me his benchmark scores with his i5 661 at that clock speed. I think overclockers are not easily satisfied with what he accomplished when it really has not reached the limit... biggrin.gif

By the way, is anyone interested to trade an i7 1156 processor with a MSI Big Bang Fuzion (new) to try the OC ability?

Hi guys, it is feeling stupid if I dont overclock my PC after purchasing all those overclocking potential stuff.... but need some guidance here.

I'm an old user of 1156 I7 860 user, using MSI GD-65 ( the old one ). Right now the default clock is 2.8ghz and I'm still using this frequency. May I know those who are using this motherboard, are u using the OC genie button to overclock or you manually overclock it? What I know is that the I7 860 multiplier is locked. ( Correct me if I'm wrong ), and since like that it is almost impossible to overclock till 4ghz. ( not water cooling, only using cooler master 212 hyper, so not even dare to reach that high ).

But I would like to overclock until to a certain point which temperature is still fine and still increase the speed of the PC. max load 60C to 70C should be fine. So anyone GD65 motherboard user know roughly how many frequency it would actually reach? notworthy.gif

Actual frequency reached mostly depend on processor core quality biggrin.gif
OC in Bios of course is better as you can make sure all the voltage you use for that oc is reasonable
I'd say 3.8ghz with HT OFF is possible with Cooler Master Hyper212+ heatsink

Hi Guys,

I'm new to OC but want to ask opinions

CPU : i3 530
RAM : Kingston DDR3-1333
Mobo : P7H55

Core Speed : 4.11 GHz
Multiplier : x21
Bus Speed : 196.0 MHz
DRAM Freq : 784.0 MHz (2:8)
Load with Prime (small fft) : 63C

VCore : 1.35V
VTT : 1.35V
DRAM : 1.60V

I want to drop my DRAM to 2:6 and increase bus speed but there is instability and BSOD.

I tested at 2:6 and multiplier at x12, the maximum stabile FSB is 208

Is it because of the multiplier ?

The value rams might be the limiting factor. Mine also bsod when i pushed it further..however, i think your vcore can go lower. Mine running at 1.288 V stable.

This morning I try to overclock it with CPU voltage of 1.3, base clock 180 and multiplier 21. In bios it shows 3.6ghz to me which I feel very safe with HT off and other intel feature like EIST, CIE support, OC genie, Spectrum. I did not overclock RAM cause this is Kingmax value 1333mhz ram. So I do not know is it safe to overclock it as well or not.

After I overclock it and turn on my cpu-z, I found out my cpu core is 3.970ghz which kinda shock and worry. Temperature of all 4 cores seems fine between 40C and 50C. Now attempting to run prime95 first. But the question is, in bios it suppose to show as 3.6ghz, why in the end it shows 3.9 ghz. =__=

Oic. I dont know Turbo Boost will made the digit difference from what I've seen. Thanks anyway. laugh.gif

By the way, is it possible to overclock value ram cause from what I've experienced is that if I dont overclock the RAM it will then cause bottleneck. My Ram is Kingmax 1333mhz value ram. 2 gb each with total of 4 gb. Do you all recommend overclocking it? If yet may I know what is the recommend voltage for it. Thanks. notworthy.gif
