Hi guys, it is feeling stupid if I dont overclock my PC after purchasing all those overclocking potential stuff.... but need some guidance here. I'm an old user of 1156 I7 860 user, using MSI GD-65 ( the old one ). Right now the default clock is 2.8ghz and I'm still using this frequency. May I know those who are using this motherboard, are u using the OC genie button to overclock or you manually overclock it? What I know is that the I7 860 multiplier is locked. ( Correct me if I'm wrong ), and since like that it is almost impossible to overclock till 4ghz. ( not water cooling, only using cooler master 212 hyper, so not even dare to reach that high ). But I would like to overclock until to a certain point which temperature is still fine and still increase the speed of the PC. max load 60C to 70C should be fine. So anyone GD65 motherboard user know roughly how many frequency it would actually reach?

QUOTE(OC4/3 @ Sep 3 2010, 01:52 PM) Actual frequency reached mostly depend on processor core quality OC in Bios of course is better as you can make sure all the voltage you use for that oc is reasonable I'd say 3.8ghz with HT OFF is possible with Cooler Master Hyper212+ heatsink This morning I try to overclock it with CPU voltage of 1.3, base clock 180 and multiplier 21. In bios it shows 3.6ghz to me which I feel very safe with HT off and other intel feature like EIST, CIE support, OC genie, Spectrum. I did not overclock RAM cause this is Kingmax value 1333mhz ram. So I do not know is it safe to overclock it as well or not. After I overclock it and turn on my cpu-z, I found out my cpu core is 3.970ghz which kinda shock and worry. Temperature of all 4 cores seems fine between 40C and 50C. Now attempting to run prime95 first. But the question is, in bios it suppose to show as 3.6ghz, why in the end it shows 3.9 ghz. =__= This post has been edited by Jet23sky: Sep 5 2010, 12:18 PM

QUOTE(OC4/3 @ Sep 6 2010, 12:41 PM) Turbo Boost disabled?? That might be the reason Oic. I dont know Turbo Boost will made the digit difference from what I've seen. Thanks anyway. By the way, is it possible to overclock value ram cause from what I've experienced is that if I dont overclock the RAM it will then cause bottleneck. My Ram is Kingmax 1333mhz value ram. 2 gb each with total of 4 gb. Do you all recommend overclocking it? If yet may I know what is the recommend voltage for it. Thanks.

QUOTE(OC4/3 @ Sep 6 2010, 05:05 PM) It is possible to do overclock with value ram In fact,i have done a lot of overclock with value ram for customer Then how much voltage you put on RAM? memory ratio and QPI ratio~~~
