I feel like current trend is holding to what we have and then selling off later, not so fast. Imagine, we have mini correction almost every week, but most stocks been going from high to higher. So, if we keep holding, eventually we will be able to make the most out of one stock.

If you're as good as Adam or Naz, then you can sell them off. If you just an average person like me, it is better to hold a good counter until economy recovers. Else, you'll earn much less than what you should.

If everyday KLCI up so little but our counters up so much, I'll be very very happy!!! Too bad in reality, today case is very rare... Most of the time KLCI fly, but our counters unchanged or down...

I agree with Neo...Steel counters still not performing....Did not cheong at all. I am eyeing MASTEEL, even though Technical Analysis from CIMB says to sell.
JT Inter - Q2 results out on 19th August. This morning on radio I heard DRBHicom in talks with GM. Perhaps a likely buyout for some of the GM stakes here in Asia?? |

QUOTE(VyvernS @ Aug 10 2009, 04:46 PM) I agree with Neo...Steel counters still not performing....Did not cheong at all. I am eyeing MASTEEL, even though Technical Analysis from CIMB says to sell. thanks regarding the JTI date.JT Inter - Q2 results out on 19th August. This morning on radio I heard DRBHicom in talks with GM. Perhaps a likely buyout for some of the GM stakes here in Asia?? on 29/7, research house gave a FIRM BUY call on both Proton & Drbhicom. price has gone up more than 10% after a week or so. |

There's always conspiracy but it remains one until its proven a fact. However, TP and SL are very important. If you buy knm for long term, you shouldnt be worried about short term swings. (unless the company goes BK) IF you are a intraday player like myself , then stop loss is important to prevent a major loss in capital. We all take risks when investing in the market. The question is, how much can you lose when you trade?

Hi all, checking in for a few minutes. Any news on KNM? Drop 5% since I bought it. My lousiest performer, the second one is BJTOTO. Hahahaha.
Anyone bought proton? In terms of price performance, it had jumped up faster (10%) than kinstel (8%), Sealink (cant remember) and definitely better than KNM (-5%). Can you believe it? Hahahahahahaha. Anyhow, these are the most recent stocks i bought, last week. My old stocks still holding and going strong. Except BJTOTO that is. |

I still holding some long term/not reach my selling level stocks,Ah Chuan,Bjtoto,BHIC,Bursa,CScenic and some SG shares,to name a few. Some have been with me for as long as I can remember. Not to say that my strategy is the right way. There is no absolute right or long in this kind of decision,a right this month may turn out to be a big mistake three month down the road.a wrong today can turn out to be a big right in future. No need to look back and regret since you can't undo what is done. I only buy stocks that are fundamentally sound.Goreng stocks seldom keep(except for my Cscenic which became long term by compulsion) (This is all rubbish, don't believe a single word I said) |

QUOTE(mopster @ Aug 10 2009, 07:10 PM) 1/2 day never spam got new thread already.... I also cant believe that Harta actually pass RM5. I tot even at RM3.xx, it was hella expensive even though they generated the best income in the rubber glove industries in term of percentage. If you asked me, I dont think they can actually beat Top Glove nor Kossan in term of volume of sales. Speaking of which, I do service a few customers who has ongoing business assembling machines for these companies, and Top Glove is still the beast compared to the rest. Their volume is staggering. Harta is probably having the fastest machines among all of them which puts them in a good position despite having lesser machinery.Checking in V37... wow, RCECAP, PELIKAN Now I regret didnt listen to my remisier's advise to buy rubber gloves... padan muka! I'm also holding.. parents pushing me to sell, but no way..... Is it wise to average up Rambutan at around 15 ? plz advise.. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Aug 10 2009, 11:53 PM) A lot of time, market crash around this time Sep or Oct. I think it is circumstantial, relating those events to the fact after it had happened.Last year the big bear in multi-decade started and take control around September as well, which nosediving event start due to Lehman. 911. 1929 crash 1987 crash The previous recession of 2002 also hit the low point during September Don't know it is coincidence or not. Don't mean to say Sep is a dangerous month, just it is the history of the market. Edited, after I posted, I also found this is an interesting fact/history as well. I mean, it is a bit like reading yesterday's horoscope and said that yes, maybe the things written in the horoscope is right because some things happened just like what the horoscope said it would. More like you read it and you find an event in your life that day that is the same as what the horoscope said. The list shows some 4 events about the market crash in September. In the other years, surely there have been other months where market have crashed, wasn't it ? I believe that if one is to chart the time the market slides, one would know that the market can crash at any months, and that in the course of the decades, the months where the market could have crashed would be the same, whether it be September, or any other months That brings to mind, the great depression, 1924, did it start on September as well ? |

Perhaps they cycle in a semi-predictable range and as a result, the downturn almost always happen in the second half of year. No, US depression didn't start in 1924. 1924 still booming. The stock market crashed in 1929 (October) but 6 months after that, they had false bear rally, big downturn followed by massive unemployment. Their economy didn't recover until after World War 2. War always seems to bring back recovery after massive destruction. If there is going to be another massive downturn, perhaps we need to see war, to completely destroy all wealth and world economy in order to see phoenix rise again. Bursa suspended
QUOTE 11 Aug 2009 BURSA MALAYSIA, CME GROUP TO ESTABLISH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP IN DERIVATIVES MARKETS KUALA LUMPUR 11 AUGUST/CHICAGO 10 AUGUST, 2009 - In line with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak's acknowledgement on Bursa Malaysia Berhad's (Bursa Malaysia) cooperative efforts with CME Group Inc (CME Group) to develop a robust derivatives market, the two exchanges announced today that they are working towards a collaboration involving trade matching services, product licensing and minor cross-equity investments. The CME Group equity stake will relate to Bursa Malaysia's derivatives business. Specific terms will be announced at a later date. Both parties announced that this initiative is subject to regulatory approval. With this strategic partnership, CME Group will use Bursa Malaysia's RM-denominated CPO futures contract (FCPO) settlement prices, which will enable CME Group to develop a USD-denominated cash-settled CPO futures contract and its related options for listing on one of CME Group's US registered exchanges. This product is expected to be traded on CME Globex, which is CME Group's electronic trading platform. Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, said, "The proposed collaboration is not only timely but also necessary as it would contribute to the overall growth of the Malaysian capital market. It is also aimed at globalising the Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) futures market. Consequently, part of this proposed collaboration will enable Bursa Malaysia Derivatives to list its derivatives products on CME Globex. Through this collaboration, we expect the resulting expertise and knowledge transfer to further facilitate our goal for a robust derivatives exchange." "This initiative, when implemented, will enable our customers from other markets to access Bursa Malaysia's derivatives markets and products on CME Globex, the leading and most widely distributed electronic trading platform in the world, further demonstrating our flexibility to operate in multiple jurisdictions for the benefit of customers worldwide," said Terry Duffy, Executive Chairman of CME Group. "Our proposed strategic partnership with Bursa Malaysia will further enhance our globalisation efforts by facilitating our customers' efficient access to Bursa Malaysia's important markets," said Craig Donohue, Chief Executive Officer of CME Group. "This proposed partnership will allow us to continue to expand our transaction processing business opportunities, increase our presence in Asia as well as help our Malaysian partners grow their business." QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 11 2009, 10:18 AM) Exactly my sentiments!....My target price. But maybe at the end didn follow and sell at TP. If economics point to better future for SapCres and OnG related counters when the TP hit, may hold longer Like yesterday, i decided not to follow my TP for Tanjong and lots of advise came in not to dump in. Eventhough it drop further today, I am still ok with it. Heheheh... |

I used to have 1000+ lot of KNM when it was 40sen... Sold them too early when I thought a major correction is coming (in Apr)...
Later buy back at much higher price and much lower quantity... My best example of "greed" for this year. QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Aug 11 2009, 11:01 AM) |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Aug 11 2009, 11:02 AM) Yet another "less bad" news. I'm not sure whether now is still in recession or recovery.Btw, when will Malaysia report its own 2nd qtr GDP? or maybe I already missed this? But one thing for sure, when the market crashes last year, it was mainly due to the anticipation of very very bad economy. But when reported out "less bad" news, it is sort of good news, and the market will adjust accordingly. Just my opinion though. Added on August 11, 2009, 11:09 am QUOTE(danmooncake @ Aug 11 2009, 11:07 AM) Hmm... in that case, better watch that date. Well, you know what? I think even if Malaysia still sux, KLSE will not tank or drop like shit. We have so many funds out there waiting to support the BIG5. Other penny counters, I'm not sure how those will perform if Malaysia still sux1st qtr was terrible. Since every other countries have better 2nd qtr, Malaysia also better show improvement otherwise KLSE will tank. This post has been edited by jasontoh: Aug 11 2009, 11:09 AM |

QUOTE(cubic @ Aug 11 2009, 11:53 AM) So is it true??? (Delisting)??? oh i won't know for sure. and i definitely hope it's not gonna happen. a delisting doesn't sound good for the stock price (in my case since my ABP is quite high)a premium's offered to buy off the shares.. (Can you explain this..) Thank you.. usually when privatising a listed company the board of directors will offer a slight premium (maybe 5-10%) in order forthe offer to shareholders to release the shares to be attractive. but that'll usually require quite a big sum of money. QUOTE(lsmpro80 @ Aug 11 2009, 12:28 PM) no obligation kmarc. Well okay. since you say so. but what is the worthwhile value of LCL ? any TP from any report regarding this counter ? i am too free now.. hoping for someone having any new report for study No new reports. The last favourable report I have about LCL is in November 2008!!! The report indicated that LCL and KNM have the potential for great capital gains. It happened to KNM (somewhat) but not really to LCL yet. At that time, If I remember correctly, KNM was about 40 cents while LCL was still at around 70 cents (before it dropped suddenly to 30-40 cents).Recent quarterly earnings were also not encouraging so future earnings are questionable. They also have high exposure to middle east countries. At the moment, the main reason I am interested in this counter is because it was lagging behind it's cousins , the construction counters (although not really related as it's main work is IFO and not construction per se). I always thought it will cheong one day, and today seems to be the day... the day I didn't hold any LCL!!!!! |

CME To Take Equity Share In Bursa Malaysia Derivative Operations -Bursa KUALA LUMPUR -(Dow Jones)- The CME Group Inc. (CME) will take a minor equity stake in Bursa Malaysia Bhd's (1818.KU) derivatives business, the Malaysian stock-exchange operator said Tuesday. In a statement, Bursa said the move is part of the two exchanges' collaboration involving trade-matching services, product-licensing and minor cross-equity investments. The specific terms of the deal will be announced at a later date, Bursa said, adding the initiative is subject to regulatory approval. With this strategic partnership, CME Group will use Bursa Malaysia's ringgit- denominated crude palm oil futures contracts or FCPO settlement prices, which will enable the CME Group to develop a US dollar-denominated cash-settled CPO futures contract and its related options for listing on one of the CME Group's U.S. registered exchanges. This product is expected to be traded on the CME Globex, which is the CME Group's electronic trading platform. "Our proposed strategic partnership with Bursa Malaysia will further enhance our globalization efforts by facilitating our customers' efficient access to Bursa Malaysia's important markets," said Craig Donohue, Chief Executive Officer of CME Group in the same statement. "This proposed partnership will allow us to continue to expand our transaction processing business opportunities, increase our presence in Asia, as well as help our Malaysian partners grow their business." Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive of Bursa Malaysia, said the move is aimed at globalizing the Malaysian CPO futures market. http://www.nasdaq.com/aspx/stock-market-ne...operationsbursa |

2.58pm Permodalan Nasional Berhad (9,424,100 Shares Acquired) seems like PNB's been acquiring a fair bit of Maybank shares lately. |

RCECAP is doing a very unique business. It borrow money to gov servant to buy things that they can't afford. Then the loan payment is directly deduct from gov servant salary... So, got not much worry on bad debt (unless they passed away)...

for an instance
i thought of swapping my pbbank for Latexx-wa. short term wise, the profit definitely more yummy than pbbank. but i choose to swap for a maybank & kossan instead... atleast i could kill 2 birds (owns bank & rubber) with 1 stone (sell pbbank). |

I want some excitement in life, but not too much. PBB warrant is steady warrant (due to their mother) that can't be wrong in mid term (I mean until early next year).
So far paper gain from CJ = 68% CK= 31%. I don't think I can get the same profit if buy PBB (based on the same time frame). QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Aug 11 2009, 03:13 PM) |

Usually when the calls of the bears grow louder, typically means the tops are not in place yet.
So if its true then all the GLCs aand small caps have yet to reach its top. |

Btw, for your Maybank, I thought they have already say they won't be giving dividend in near future after the bank purchase, no? i have reserve some money to buy more if its qtr report is disappointing, and if worse still, no dividends, price sure kena knock down. but since it is a GLC & EPF's favourite, i have a tad confidence in my buying. QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Aug 11 2009, 03:55 PM) not me leh. What do you mean by not you? You din earn from Alam?i have reserve some money to buy more if its qtr report is disappointing, and if worse still, no dividends, price sure kena knock down. but since it is a GLC & EPF's favourite, i have a tad confidence in my buying. Long time GLC and EPF switch to support Commerz. Maybank is going up because EPF subscribe too many Maybank right issues, so I believe they push the price up so that they can sell off their right issue. Some more, EPF also have a lot of Maybank shares at RM10, so the only way to earn is to push up after the right issue (which they did) and then sell off. If I can get some insider news on Maybank and it is doing good, then I might be jumping in as well This post has been edited by jasontoh: Aug 11 2009, 03:59 PM |

I sooooo geram..... had to go out so I just jump into LCL at 85.5 cents before I went out. Didn't even Q.
Pleasantly surprise to see it close at 89 cents. Truthfully, I hope it comes down again so that I can accumulate more..... |

Dear Sifus,
Need your precious advice. I'm new to share investment (less than 10months). My bullets are limited and i'm only able to buy bit by bit. Below is my portfolio (units x average price bought): HARTA 1,000 3.500 ANNJOO 1,000 2.160 DIALOG 2,000 1.130 PANTECH 3,000 0.797 RCECAP 4,000 0.585 IOICORP 2,000 4.010 KNM 7,000 0.645 TEBRAU 2,000 0.805 SCOMI 3,000 0.698 UEMLAND 2,000 1.535 DELEUM 1,000 1.680 YTLPOWR 1,000 2.190 currently using hlebroking and current return is about 18%. so my questions are: 1) is my portfolio too diversified/spread out? 2) is it a "waste" to buy just 1000 units? what is the recommended minimum units to buy for those less than RM1 and RM2 counters? 3) I'm more a buy-hold fella, always missed out the "sell on strength". what is your average profit target before selling it off? feedback and suggestions are most welcome! cheers, kolabong |

QUOTE(kolabong @ Aug 11 2009, 11:13 PM) Dear Sifus, 1. Almost all ONG counters - not diversified enoughNeed your precious advice. 3) I'm more a buy-hold fella, always missed out the "sell on strength". what is your average profit target before selling it off? feedback and suggestions are most welcome! cheers, kolabong 2. The best is invest within your means 3. If you are more of buy-hold fella, no need to sell, if the profit too little. But then again, judging at your portfolio, you are more of hit and run type. Most of your counters are hit and run type. Believe me, if there is earthquake in KLCI, most of your holdings can easily drop 50% of your buy price. Only about 2-3 counters can hold tight Just my opinion though. Maybe you can reduce some ONG counters, but then again, I could be wrong. Just not my cup of tea investing heavily on one sector. |

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 11 2009, 09:34 PM) Well, if he is 100% correct, he will be the richest man in the world. Anyway, I just dun like the way he talk about certain stocks, but some of his principles are actually quite correct. To follow or not to follow him is our choice. I choose not to follow, because if market rally, everyone are actually making money, just how much we are actually gaining? 50%? 2x? 3x? etc... Actually one doesn't need to follow or not follow, read up other opinion (like or not like doesn't matter) is good to remind and enlight us for broader view. |

There is no right or wrong. 3) Never try to time the market for long term investment, market 'time' you back if one is looking for it. Can't say 20% margin is right or wrong. As we just have severe downturn which just happened in multi-decade time, so now it is bounce up on recovery. In norm time, over long term, a gain of 10~20% pa is considered a very ok and good performance already. Axreit is not a ordinary stock, it is a reit. Reit is never as same as normal stock. |

SCUMMY MARINE 2ND Quarter profit up 55%, will that help to push up SCUMMY ? They are independent in KLSE though..
David, what is ALLCRAP (3297) ? I cant find it on KLCI.. -- Most likely they'll dump the AS1M 1.6B into CIMB/MBB and soon to relist MAXIS -- Sentiment is going bearish again, Wholesale Inventories Fall, BDI Fall, Report Season is over, Wating for outcome of Fed meeting... since this month/sept could be the major turning point or what... i just give some posting which i found quite interesting to read
QUOTE As you can see, the NASDAQ recently hit an RSI of 75. This is the highest reading we've seen in nearly two years. In fact, the last time the NASDAQ had an RSI of 75 was October 10, 2007, right before stocks entered their first major leg down in the Financial Crisis, losing 55% in six months. As soon as I noticed this, I called up Ron Coby, a brilliant portfolio manager based in Medford, Oregon. Ron's one of the smartest guys I know and when it comes to trading short-term moves, he's one of the best in the business. What he had to say completely blew me away. Ron said, "Graham, you won't believe this, but I went back on the NASDAQ and made a note of every time it hit an RSI of 75. EVERY TIME, the market collapsed soon after. And I don't mean a "plain vanilla" correction, I mean a full blown CRASH." Ron then forwarded me the following chart. Suffice to say, I was floored. As you can see, the NASDAQ has hit an RSI of 75 or higher five times in the last 12 years. Every time, the market collapsed soon after with an average drop of -22%. In several cases, stocks suffered a full-blown CRASH. This is a very serious warning for the Bulls. A high RSI doesn't mean that stocks have to CRASH immediately. But it does indicate that the NASDAQ is more than ready for a serious correction. Again, an RSI of 75 or higher has only been hit FIVE times in the last 12 years. Two of those times were at massive historic bubble peaks. The others were all periods in which stocks were simply far too overbought. And ALL FIVE OF THEM PRECEDED SERIOUS CORRECTIONS. full article at http://www.kitco.com/ind/Summers/aug112009.html |

Sorry guys, my fault for bringing down the market.
Last week I called in to General Bears. He was awaken now but got diverted to China and HK and Japan. After ransacking the market there, he took a break in Taiwan because of the typhoon, yeah, his plane was delayed. But, he didn't forget my call. His 1st battalion managed scored some points at NYSE tonight. Yes, he and his red army are ready to storm the gate at KLSE. So be ready. But, I'll be compassionate and I'll pull the kill switch when the pain is intolerable. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Aug 12 2009, 01:53 AM |

This is what I observe. So, I will just buy if the price is right, I don't wait for correction or whatsever, thinking the market could collapse as low as possible, because I'm no God. UALA LUMPUR: Templeton Asset Management Ltd is targeting emerging market consumers and commodities as its investment themes.
“With consumers, there’s simply more of them in the emerging markets (than the rest of the world), and they shop. The potential for sales of new products, in markets such as China and India, is tremendous,” its executive chairman Mark Mobius said on Aug 11. He said equities markets were in a very bullish trend now and cheap emerging market stocks presented attractive investments. Addressing the World Capital Markets Symposium yesterday, he said commodity prices, which had retreated since record highs last year, would trend upwards, judging from the recovery in prices. “We will continue to see lots of fluctuations, but the trend will be going upwards,” he said. As for commodities, he said palladium was trading at a great discount and it was needed for car manufacturing. The price of palladium had risen from US$192.50 per ounce in January this year to US$273.75 yesterday. Mobius said confidence in emerging markets was on the rise, as shown by emerging market bond yields over US treasuries, which were shrinking. “Confidence in emerging markets is increasing, and we don’t see an end to that anytime soon,” he said. However, a risk to emerging markets included inflation, as central banks would have a natural inclination to hike interest rates and that would dampen interest in equities and debt markets. Mobius was upbeat about the outlook for corporate earnings next year, describing the way ahead as “very, very bright”, as the downturn forced companies to be cautious on costs and expenses, which would boost profitability. He noted companies would report disappointing results but there would be a recovery next year, leading to very impressive percentage increases in earnings, which would in turn, drive optimism higher. Speaking to reporters after the presentations, he advised banks to resume lending and assist companies, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises and reschedule loans. On the continuing stream of “bad news” about the global economy, he said this was “looking through the rear view mirror.” However, he expected more good news, while stock market prices would also be a good indication of an economic recovery. “In the emerging markets, keep an eye on prices. Stock prices are up, in tandem with expectations earnings will improve,” he said. |

Traditionally bulls would be sidelines before any Fed meetings. So bears took the advantages but the volume traded is thin. After Fed meeting , the bulls would be back in full swing. Bears could have some Happy Hours, but not too long. Added on August 12, 2009, 8:18 amKUALA LUMPUR: Trading is expected to be lacklustre except for a few stocks on Aug 12 as investors' sentiment is expected to be dampened by the overnight fall on Wall Street. On Wall Street, stocks fell after a prominent banking analyst warned the sector's fundamentals have yet to improve, and an unexpectedly large drop in wholesale inventories raised worries about an economic recovery. The drop in US wholesale inventories in June, which was nearly double expectations, showed businesses remained sceptical about a return in demand. At Bursa Malaysia, stocks which could see some trading interest are banks including BCHB and AMMB. BCHB is scheduled to release its second results after market close while AMMB put up a strong performace in its 1Q results ended June 30. AMMB's 1Q earnings rose 27% to RM258.24 million, up from RM202.91 million a year ago, boosted by its strong investment banking business UAC said its net profit rose to RM5.9 million for 2Q ended June 30, 2009 from RM4.9 million a year ago due to stronger demand for its products due to restocking of inventory by customers and also the substantial gains on disposal of shares. The board declared a gross dividend per share of 12 sen. Scomi Marine's 2Q net profit rose 55% to RM22.48 from RM14.52 million a year ago, underpinned by improved margins through better operations management. Gross profit margin for the quarter was wider at 26.2% on lower bunker and docking expenses. NSTP and Media Prima should see some trading interest on expectations that Media Prima would take the newspaper publisher private via a share swap exercise. AmResearch said Media Prima's FY10F's net earnings should improve 20%, resulting in net effect of 5% earnings dilution. "This would also avoid earnings leakages from NSTP as we expect NSTP's earnings rebounding from an estimated RM5 million in FY09F to RM39 million in FY11F. In its Bursa Malaysia filing after market close yesterday, the property developer did not indicate the material development it would be announcing. Market watchers, however, said it could be related to a sizeable acquisition. As at end-March this year, Mah Sing had cash and bank balances of RM26.4 million while its deposits with licensed banks stood at RM127.9 million. With its strong cash hoard, Mah Sing could boost its landbank via acquisitions. For the first three months of financial year 2009, Mah Sing posted a net profit of RM22.6 million on the back of RM150.3 million revenue. Compared to a year earlier, Mah Sing's net profit was only marginally better despite revenue increasing by 6.8%. In the notes accompanying its financial results, Mah Sing said: "The group's healthy balance sheet and low gearing of 0.13 times as at end-March 2009 allows it to plan ahead and acquire good landbank at the right timing." Mah Sing had seen a run-up in its share price in recent weeks. However, its share price closed unchanged at RM1.99 yesterday. On Monday, the stock hit its 52-week high of RM2.02. Since end-July, the stock has gained 15 sen or 8%. souce:http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/business-ne...suspension.html |

Actually Maybank is not that bad a company.
It has largest Market Cap, GLC. It gave good dividends. The thing is that they made a boo-boo with that Indonesian bank fiasco. I believe that has already been written off, and judging by the reports from large banks like Commerz and PBBank and smaller banks like AMMB, Maybank should report some good earnings last quarter and probably announce some yummy dividends...Hehehe I also got Maybank...at 4.50 one...hehehe... |
