i have the UOB ONE card, the most significant advantage of it is the 10% rebate at Sushi King (spending above RM50) & 2% rebate at BHP Petrol.  However this rebate is not in cash, it will be accumulated and you can only claim the rebate the next time you visit those stores

it force u to spend more. best is set off against current balance. icon_rolleyes.gif

is this new requirement?

NO Annual Fee

Enjoy annual fee waiver by just charging a minimum of RM50 per month, every year on your UOB VOX Card.

-  Admin fee of RM6 will be levied on month not fulfilled.

Any credit card can pay TNB bill online more than around 5k per month ?
So far only CT bank can do it.

So I use
CT Bank for TNB bill monthly about 7-8k (company bills) <-- redemption points sucks keep increasing yearly.
Streamyx/phone bill around 3-4k per month - use Maybank Plat CC, but now no double point .Zzzz ..Applying Amex awaiting approval.
Petrol - I pump BHP using UOB 1 card so I can enjoy free movie at GSC.
Grocerries - sometime uob, sometime CTBank.

Any advise to maximize my benefit out of plastic money?.
I'm card collector, I have almost all banks CC smile.gif

Standard financial charge (interest rate)

Retails purchases: 18% p.a or 1.5% p.m from statement date upon paying the minimum amount.

*Malaysia had adopted tiered pricing interest rate: BNM Press Statement
18% p.a. (now, most bank had adopted 17.5% p.a. starting Apr 09)
17% p.a. (now, most bank had adopted 16% p.a. starting Apr 09)
15% p.a. (now, most bank had adopted 13.5% p.a. starting Apr 09)

Cash advance: 18% p.a from the date of withdrawal.
Late payment: 1% of outstanding or RM 5 whichever is higher.
Minimum payment amount: 5% of outstanding or RM 25/RM 50 whichever is higher.

can I know what those mean?

This portion is applicable if you have any outstanding amount that is not cleared after the statement due date. You'll be charged accordingly from the due date onwards on a daily basis. The advertised rates are per annum fashion and you need to convert these figures in daily rates fashion.

The tiered interested rate is offered to those who have a good payment record; meaning didn't carry any outstanding amount for at least 10 months. 17.5% is for fresh cardholders, 16% for at least 10 months (if I remembeder correctly) and 13.5% for 12 months and above.

QUOTE
Cash advance: 18% p.a from the date of withdrawal.

This charge will be imposed if you withdraw cash from your credit card under cash advance transaction. You'll be charged at this rate in daily basis from the date of withdrawal till you clear this outstanding withdrawn amount. Same as the retail purchases interest rate; the advertised rate is per annum and you need to convert it to daily rate. On top of this, you'll be for upfront processing fee called cash advance withdrawal fee which is 5%o of the withdrawn amount or min of RM 15 to RM 20 (depending on the bank).

QUOTE
Late payment: 1% of outstanding or RM 5 whichever is higher.

This charge will be credited into your next billing cycle if you didn't pay for the billed outstanding amount after due date. If you pay for the min amount, you won't be charged for this.

QUOTE
Minimum payment amount: 5% of outstanding or RM 25/RM 50 whichever is higher.

This is the min amount need to be paid from your outstanding amount before you're being charged for the late payment. Some may opt to pay min amount instead of full outstanding amount. Bear in that, any outstanding amount will be charged for retail purchase interest rate.

All these won't be a big headache for you if you're a good paymaster and didn't use the available fancy features of tricky credit card.

These min requirement using existing cards to apply are non-published (and in a way not official) by the banks and may change from time to time. If the banks are so quick to offer you Platinum card at so low entry level then likely they are desperate for your business and their promos will not be good at all.

Yup you are right. If you have been paying in full then all the tiered interest does not mean a thing to you.

I think the disadvantage of the Islamic card was this, it is even worse when you don't have enough cash in your wallet

Wow serious? Wonder if it's just a coincidence, or they really do block of places. I mean, they like, identify such places, black list it and block it off in their system? Must be pretty tedious for them to come up with such a list (talking bout the bank).

I am a bit surprised too. Ever since the system is so advanced and could detect non-halal entertainment outlets? Perhaps the cardholders could try dining at high-end restaurants and hotels, and order wine or liquor. Do let us know the outcome. smile.gif

To all new MBB Amex Gold CC owner, are most of you using MR points for cash rebates? Just curious how frequent do you call Amex 1800 line to convert MR points to rebates. Do you do so after received monthly statement?

I guess each card terminal has an ID and bank have records of all card terminals in order to collect payments. I think bank also keep record of what business type each terminal ID belongs to in order to filter non-halal terminal from able to swipe...

Actually it is quite simple. The banks had it for quite a while already - these banks are allocated a certain merchant ID code/class thus it is easily detectable by the terminal open they swipe the card. This system was already in place when AMBB introduced their Islamic cc several years back.

Hi all, would like to know more regarding CC overseas transaction. Currently MBB offers the lowest admin charge at 0.5% is this correct?
Let say if I charge SGD$ 100 in Singapore using my MBB Master/Visa, is the charge equals to ($100 x exchange rate) x 0.5?
