@he-sham,
Just contact them and make sure they do it next month.  The only thing I don't like about all these automated system is that by default it shows ur late and hence ur interest rate increases tongue.gif

I love to see my Interest Rate level at 13.5%! But really it makes no difference to me because I pay my bill in full each month.
*
hehe, now that you've mentioned it, i just noticed all my 3 scb ccs are at 13.5%, even though i just applied the cards on last march and may respectively shocking.gif

is it because i used to hold their cc a few yrs back ago??

Means that you have been (highly likely) paying SCB promptly in the last 12 months. You should know this yourself.

yes, i made full payment before due date every month on all my cards

but for SCB, that can't translate to 13.5%, as i held their cc back in 2003 and terminated in 2004 and the three cards i have now just 3 and 2 months old

i thought when you apply for new cc, it will reset back - until you've made 12 continuous prompt payment

my guess is..

CRM database = Existing customer
Credit Card Database = No Late Payment in Last 12 months

Bam! You get 13.5% for a 3 month old card

Whatever interest rates, to me, is meaningless. For people who ensure full payment is done before the due date like us, the so called "lower interest rates" never benefit us. I'd rather be awarded with more cash rebates and reward points.

Ok.. On Thursday i have received a weird call from someone Claimed (From MBB) that asked me if I'm Interested to apply for a AMEX card (gold)...

I'm Still a Student at this point of time ( 1 year moar to finish my studies), but I'm amazed with their Job in searching my profile... +_+ and they say.. no problem smile.gif, you can apply based on your current Supplementary Credit card "limit" (where it's my dad that sub-ed the card to me with a limit of only 1.5k for Emergency Purposes, and MOST of the time i used it to pump petrol as lazy walk to counter and pay back my dad accordingly biggrin.gif)

Now... this is the weird part... I wonder... How good is their *Info Mining* team.. where.. they can even Know my Approx In-Out $$ from my other banks Transactions.. and also not forgot the maybank savings account transaction (that can go UP to XX-K in-out) per month and with Just that.. they say I'm qualified to Join the credit card..

Is It that... All the banks are such Informative? lol.. i don't wanna own another C.C... except they can "show" me the benefits of owning one extra and gain extra $$ while using their credit cards EXCEPT through point redemption smile.gif

Some banks offer CC if you deposit substantial amount with them in FD/Time Deposits.

HLB also give complimentary CC when you open a SmartLink Account with them. Click below:

http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/dep/depsmacc.jsp?flag=depsmacc

As long as you can proof you meet the minimum income, I see no reason why you can't get a credit card. Source of income need not necessary means from employment, income can come from dividens, rentals, royalties, etc. If your parents give you X amount monthly/yearly and the total is more than the minimum required, technically you should be able to qualify. Go ask the bank that you have an account with and if they find your account to be maintained to their satisfaction, you may be issued a CC.

Alternatively, you can get a Visa/MC Debit card that can be used just like a credit card except that transacted amount is deducted from your savings/current account almost instanly.

Or you can put some time deposit into the bank and then apply for one. However, you must be AT LEAST 21-year-old.

You can try with Public Bank or AMBank. Open a time deposit account with RM10,000 and you can apply for a Gold Credit Card with a credit line of RM10,000.

Agreed. And hopefully more banks will offer cash back credit card. Cold hard cash is way better than some stupid point. Not to mention those banks can save on courier fee too.

@Kazachok,
You're a student and u still take ur money from ur parents; so how then is it that you're going to manage your own finacials and expenses?!

Also, I see no reason for U to need a CC of ur own unless U intend to make purchases ur folks do not approve of!

Hey...for some people, owning a cc is easy, but managing it is difficult. You shouldn't view cc as a tool to extract easy money.

Absolutely right. He should own a dc first, and apply for cc when he has entered the job market later. If he really needs a cc for emergency use, getting a supp card with small CL is good enough, at least for the time being.

I seriously wanted to laugh my head off when I read this bro's answer. I don't want to be rude but if you are thinking to start a debt at such a young age, (somemore cc debt) I think you better take a hike. I could have used a more "interesting" choice of word to reflect my annoyance at such attitude and arrogance towards the purpose and idea of owning a credit card.

I saying this for your own good. mad.gif
