@vin_ann,
Er.. the Amex Gold that gives 5X points on Petrol is a CC so this is the right thread.

@David83,
Haf U done manual calculation to see which CC gives the best petrol rebate?

Nope since I don't want to have some many cards.

Those are just two cents. As you said earlier, I have no interest in short term gain. tongue.gif

If you talk about benefits from petrol purchase purely, I think SCB Just1 stands out in the crowd, followed by DA/CIMB, Amex Gold cc, MBB Petronas and Alliance. Other banks also give rebates or extra points, but the promotion is only temporary.

A friend of mine was introduced to this company/website which claims that they can help lessen the burden of CC holders by reducing the instalments or something like that thru' an easy payment scheme. How true is this? Appreciate your comments:

hi, i just want to ask some opinion regarding credit card. i'm planning to apply my first credit card. what are good cards should i look at?
i don't travel that much so i don't think i need card that gives me back petrol rebate.
i normally use cash for all of my transactions.
the purpose of the card is just for convenience if i need to buy stuff that requires online banking or involve huge sum of money of more than 1k.
or any card will do to serve my purpose?
any good suggestions? thanks for helping.

@brutus,
No I never bother about payment date because my #1 rule is to ensure I have sufficient $ to pay for the item I'm buying; hence the cash is always at hand and so when the bill comes, I'll have the $ to pay for it.

@kilazilla,
There's no best card out there; it really depends on what U want. My sister applied for the SCB Character cards because she liked having those cartoon characters on her card. Some others are Platinum collectors hence collects all available Platinum CCs tongue.gif

@Fala,
It should be usable but forummers in the past did meantion U will need to make payment at the counter instead of at the pump for Amex Cards.

The new Maybank AMEX Gold credit card can it be use in Petronas stations? If yes, means i can dump my old Petronas card?
*
The self-service kiosk won't recognise AMEX.

You need to swipe at the counter.

@MilesAndMore,
Er.. it's small matter and it doesn't mean that as a PB with those banks, U have minimum RM300k FD in the bank; it could be RM300k in an Investment Portfolio or something biggrin.gif

Also, most of these people probably don't need so much CL - and if they need extra they could always put in a request and I'm sure the bank will look into it biggrin.gif

I've also heard that some banks have capped their limit for Platinum cards(applies to individual cards only as all their cards have seperate credit limits anyway). Recently one of my friends who worked inside Citibanks told me that the CL for citibank cards have been capped to 100k. However,I will be curious to know what's the cap for CL when it comes to Platinum, visa infinite etc?

Shell can use AMEX in the kiosk itself? Time to switch petrol & cancel the Petronas card nod.gif

Yes it is. AMEX can be recognized at Shell and Caltex self-service kiosk.

but with the proper statement dates, one can fully maximize the credit facilities given. what is the point of having 2 seperate CC having same statement dates beside the obvious higher combined CL?
