well, at least Malaysian gamers are getting a Malaysian PSN store, that should at least provide us with options. Think of it like buying stuff from Sony Wings, a bit pricey but hassle free.

some of the games r cheaper in the sg store than the us store.......for example wipeout hd.......n we must not forget that US PSN card cost so much more than SG PSN card.....some dlc for instance burnout paradise r released 1 or few days earlier than US PSN.....its not that bad

yup that sucks big time. i was checking out some games i want to download, realise it comes up to rm107. imagine i gotta pay rm110 for a rm100, if i got my rm110 fully, i could buy those games from one top up, no two top up cards. well finally can download DLC for my R3 games.

lucky i dont even bother the my psn... already expected this will happen..
besides about the posts above....the psn card do need tax, RM 100 is just like US$20...with tax is $21++ so means that you paying the tax for the card then redeem it into psn store and purchase it will get tax again for digital purchase....well....using credit card is the only choice to save tax from psn card.... not i want to be offence but seriusly be smart little bit...it will be expensive and the psn card will sure have tax on it....why make such a fuss when it does not appear what you wish for? and dont even dream on getting the same rates as US psn price tag....the reason why US getting all the cheap stuff is because multiple reasons on economy and investors bond with other countries....while malaysia?......at least I did saw singapore selling R1 US game with similar price but different in currency....such as SF4 US$59 = SIN$59.... again still i want to stress that out....if you really think the my psn store price going to be same as US price tag....what about the rest of the R3 region psn store....and are we malaysian on par with Americans in United States? although our land is bolehland still.....is third world compare to theirs first world.....  |

comparing the prices to EUR and Aus PSN, we're just a couple of ringgit more. we dont hear them complaining. Finally Sony has delivered the Playstation Store to Malaysia. It shows that we're an important market to them. Maybe for now, the prices will be expensive, and even if it's brought down, many will complain that it will be expensive. We can never compare it to US PSN prices, nor prices there in general. For USD$50k i can get myself a BMW M3, here i can only get a camry 2 litre, do we hear anyone complaining? we should be glad we finally have our own playstation store and keep ourselves up to date with the DLCs.

bionic commando -rm42 mortal combat -rm21 but some are totally ridiculous sky high price such as: watchmen --rm86 sf 2 hd remix -rm42 i think sony msia is going to hear us....but will they do anything to improve on this????MY set ps3 is already selling at high price compare with neighborhood country such as spore or hk. besides,the game selling at sonystyle is ridiculous unacceptable.......can sony MY do something to grab back msian consumer? |

i have asked someone before from sony style at the curve why their game prices are so high. he told me that sony have to pay government tax on every game they bring in. so that's the reason why their game price is high and that is probably also why their price on psn is also high.

Yes, that is correct. There is a 10% sales plus 30% excise duty the govt has to charge for any retailers who wants to sell imported games/movies/software. The excise duty is discretionary depending on volume. Sony (M) also have to pay for dealer network, servers and bandwidth to serve digital downloads. This is not cheap yet in Malaysia and there are few competitors in area to offer competitive rates. The local PSN card (RM100) actually requires EPAS (Elec. Point of Sale Act. System) but not all dealers have this comp ability, there a surcharge of RM10 is needed. Once the network is established, you should be able pay at the same rate. Bear in mind, there is very very little profit margin for selling PSN card, some dealer may not want to do this because of the high cost of activation. As for credit card, it will be coming soon but again this is not easy yet. Banks want those high service fees (2%-5%), Sony needs to eat those fees (or charge you for it). I think they already did, therefore some games you're seeing are already price higher that you would see at overseas PSN. Yes, US PSN seems to have the cheaper DLC for now. The goal for Sony is local consumers to enjoy local download and consume less international bandwidth - but right now, they have to operate at higher cost.. just give it time.. (one year or more), the price may come down later. Enjoy your new local PSN! P.S. I'm not a Sony dealer but merely a 3rd party private reseller who has deal with them before. It is much easier to deal with Sony USA than Sony Malaysia for now. |

Since when FF7 has voice over? And FFX International doesn't have jap voice over. And FF7 was before Squaresoft actually thought of going global... like for real. |

Malaysian in general still perceive gaming industry as kid stuff. But we can't blame general public. It is SONY fault that lack initiative to promote/advertise gaming. How many times hv u seen a tv ad for any video game in Malaysia? In the US, SONY advertise during super bowl, the most expensive advertising airtime.
The Gov also at fault. Gov state full fledged war against piracy, saying how ruthless and violence the pirate DVD/CD sellers are. But do nothing to promote buying/owning original DVD/CD. IMHO Gov hate piracy not bcoz pressure from commercial companies. It is bcoz they can't tax the pirate DVD/CD seller |

Zeliard, you forgot to ask sony, why the heck we cannot use credit card to pay and why almost all the games are japanese version?! this is malaysia, not japan!!!!

They may or may not be English version of the game available. They just open the Japanese games section up to allow other users to purchase ahead of time - and yes, you're expected to know some Japanese if you want to play the latest stuff being released over there. All Asian provinces are to adhere the content of Asia, which is NTSC-J. This has been so since the days of the PS1. The policy hasn't changed.
