Perhaps Sony thought Malaysia is like Japan. 1 Ringgit = 100 YEN? tongue.gif

Anyway, looks like Sony is also ready to release the PSN CARD in Ringgit (100 RM) denomination only.

GT5P for RM189! It seems that PSN Malaysia is selling the digital copy of the game as the same price as the Blu Ray disc in Sony Style.  doh.gif
But hang on a second, if one were to buy GT5P online, he/she have to buy two RM100 PSN cards for RM110 each. Then it'll be total RM220 spent on GT5P! Of course he/she still has a balance of RM11 in the PSN wallet. But is there any games in the PSN store which costs less than RM11 if the person decided not to keep topping up his PSN wallet or buying other titles in the future from PSN Store?  doh.gif  doh.gif RM11 down the drain for that fella. That's a whopping RM220 for GT5P!

Ahem..US PSN selling GT5P for US$39.99. biggrin.gif

For US PSN cards, see my .sig file brows.gif

Hi all,

Yes, that is correct. There is a 10% sales plus 30% excise duty the govt has to charge for any retailers who
wants to sell imported games/movies/software. The excise duty is discretionary depending on volume.

Sony (M) also have to pay for dealer network, servers and bandwidth to serve digital downloads. This is not cheap
yet in Malaysia and there are few competitors in area to offer competitive rates. The local PSN card (RM100) actually
requires EPAS (Elec. Point of Sale Act. System) but not all dealers have this comp ability, there a surcharge of RM10
is needed. Once the network is established, you should be able pay at the same rate. Bear in mind, there is very
very little profit margin for selling PSN card, some dealer may not want to do this because of the high cost of activation.
As for credit card, it will be coming soon but again this is not easy yet. Banks want those high service fees (2%-5%),
Sony needs to eat those fees (or charge you for it). I think they already did, therefore some games
you're seeing are already price higher that you would see at overseas PSN.

Yes, US PSN seems to have the cheaper DLC for now.

The goal for Sony is local consumers to enjoy local download and consume less international bandwidth - but right now,
they have to operate at higher cost.. just give it time.. (one year or more), the price may come down later. smile.gif

Enjoy your new local PSN!

P.S. I'm not a Sony dealer but merely a 3rd party private reseller who has deal with them before. It is much easier
to deal with Sony USA than Sony Malaysia for now. biggrin.gif

why the games are mostly in japanese? does sony expects us to learn NIHON-GO???!!!
*
The Japanese games are meant to Japanese users.
They may or may not be English version of the game available.

They just open the Japanese games section up to allow other users to purchase ahead of time -
and yes, you're expected to know some Japanese if you want to play the latest stuff being released over there.

Again these releases are meant for those 'otaku' type who wants the latest of everything.. tongue.gif

I think you mean Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong Limited. Not SCEA. That one is for America.
*
I've seen it for dual use.

SCEA = Sony Computer Entertainment America (more common)

SCEA = Sony Computer Entertainment Asia (less common)

I believe SSBen meant the latter, ie. Asia.

Sometimes, I also confused by Sony marketing.. they lumped Asia into a central area.
covers 6 countries: HK, TW, SG, TH, SG, KR

Japan being the motherland is unique of course - SCE Japan. biggrin.gif
