Mini Introduction

Announced at Nokia's Remix event in London, at the beginning of October 2008, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is a mid-range, music focused phone, running S60 5th Edition on Symbian OS 9.4, with a 3.2 megapixel camera, integrated GPS, WiFi and HSDPA connectivity, and a 3.2 inch touch screen. It's the last item on this feature list which draws attention to what would otherwise be a fairly standard mid range phone. For the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is one of Nokia's most widely talked about (and leaked) phones of recent memory. There's no doubt that it is going to garner attention, coming in the wake of the recent spate of touch phones, including, of course, the Apple iPhone. While it's not Nokia's first touch phone (Nokia 7700/7110) or its first recent touch device (Nokia N810), it is the first S60 touch enabled phone and is a significant landmark in Nokia's mobile device story. However, it is worth noting from the start that it is not "Nokia's touch phone", instead it is the first in a portfolio of touch enabled phones from Nokia. This is an important distinction because, while the 5800 can tell us much about Nokia's touch platform generally, it can only be fairly assessed in the context of its own market positioning (music focused, cost of 279 Euro before taxes and subsidies). Well if u wanna get a bluetooth headphones then go ahead.. But honestly if u ask me, the price is a bit steep. For the same price u can get those bluetooth stereo IEM which is more flexible cos u can sleep with it while lying on the pillow in bed. I believe the BH-503 is a backphones right (headphones that wrap behind ur head instead of top)? THats gonna have a problem when u lie down..

So yeah thats just my opinion. Of course its cool to pair Nokia and Nokia (and I know it comes in a sexy red colour) but seriously is it really worth it?

even so i think that built in chips inside a phone has a major role in producing great sounds and the dsp in the bh503 (if there is one) only enhances it further.. i think..

that chip is mainly to process audio that projected thru phone call, better quality on voice projection from phone call but stil cant compare with normal headphone.

yeah i get u now..the dsp in the bh503 is to process the sound because it's wireless..a wired headset doesnt have that because it's processed by the phone thus providing better sounds

lol the phone is transmitting the audio data.. if the audio data is crap, even if you use a high end headphones, ur just getting the best of the 'crap audio data' ?

I think everyone still says that its not worth going because its not a sure 100% win situation. Like I said, if its wires you're worried about, there are so many other stereo bluetooth in-ear earphones out there. It may not necessary be a big improvement from your IEM that you have been using. Plus summore aspire you said your ears are sensitive so what if it turns out to be a letdown?

and the sound projection quality is great.... barely notice difference when i play with PC

from what i understand, the dsp chip inside any bt headset processes the incoming sound for it to be heard...but not necessarily to enhance the sound....

the dsp inside the phone is the main thing that determines whether the sound is good or not

faiz... aspire ear can differentiate 192kbps sound quality with 320kbps sound quality... can urs?

Added on March 21, 2009, 12:18 amok here's the scenario:
Crap phone dsp processor > Crap sound to be transmitted to bluetooth (thru air) > Crap sound decoded by bluetooth headset DSP processor > end result = highest quality of crap sound

Crap phone dsp processor > Transmitted to wired headset (data transmit raw data to ur headset) > if your wired headset internal DSP processor is good u'll get execellent quality

reason why wired over wireless, Transfer rate, it's the same theory that can be apply to celcom wireless broadband vs suxmyx, doesnt matter how bad suxmyx is.... celcom wireless cant beat it...

192 kbps and 320kbps has a difference only if the original format of the recording is in 320kbps..

usually bass reproduction and treble is the main thing that differentiate between a good, bad or great sound for a headphone.

someone comment on the BH-503

HasMan 09.09.08 at 2:45 am

i’ve got them long time ago… i upgraded it from the BH-501. Same great sound quality but wiz longer distance (nice sound quality till 8meters).
i enjoy da AVRCP profile…. the only flaw is dat BH-503 can not be be fold like the BH-501!
i enjoy music at da max…. even my friends who have iPhone are amazed by the sound quality over bluetooth!

the mp3 may be 256kbps...but maybe it was once 128kbps and then somebody else re-encode it to 256kbps..so no use...quality would be the same as 128kbps..and waste of space as 256kbps would be a bigger file but same quality...

the nokia 503 falls in a category i called middle range, not best quality, not worst, just middle.... cuz... u must remember... a headphone cannot change what is given... if i give u a 75x75 image and u resize to 1024 x 1024 it's still a crappy image... if i give u 1024 x 1024 then u can only view it in 800 x 800 it's no point getting it since u cant juice maximum performance out from it...

if u ask me... bh503 worth buying if u tested and it satisfied u, and u got extra money....

if u nid to have budget to buy bh503 no point getting it... since doesnt matter how u cant juice every single bit of quality from ur tube....

yeah... basically, if you have good song files..get good headphones..

if you got great song files like flac, get great headphones..

but keep in mind that your phone is the main thing that determines sound reproduction...if crappo phone=crappo sounds..

if from audio CD, usually if u're buying original music, their normal quality should be about 768, then sometimes it'll mention HDCD then the quality might 912 or higher, sometimes can even reach 1200 but i dont have knowledge till that extend already....

lol FLAC is big... haha... one song easily reach 50mb

once i downloaded 1 album 2 CD... total filesize is 2gb

someone comment on the BH-503

HasMan 09.09.08 at 2:45 am

i’ve got them long time ago… i upgraded it from the BH-501. Same great sound quality but wiz longer distance (nice sound quality till 8meters).
i enjoy da AVRCP profile…. the only flaw is dat BH-503 can not be be fold like the BH-501!
i enjoy music at da max…. even my friends who have iPhone are amazed by the sound quality over bluetooth!

I also upgraded my BH-501 to BH-503...Seriously nokia did some BIG improvements on the BH-503(sound quality)..Btw,BH-501 the e_trade_pj guy selling it at RM260 if im not mistaken

the dsp on the bh503 wont make a difference as the dsp on the tube will process the sound and send it to the headset...it wont make the sound nicer..because if the sound aint nice on your wired X3i headset...then it surely wont be nice on the bh503..surely

i think for 503... 192kbps would be enough... but it's also important what is the original bitrate for ur music... always remember u cant re-encode the music from lower bitrate to higher bitrate... that's just how physics is...

of course not. One is a bluetooth headset another one is not.

I saw someone selling a similar to itech bluetooth CLIP that can use 3.5mm earphones.

Its simple... because they spent a lot of money on it so whether good or not they will say good to make themself feel good about their purchase.

It goes the same with our tube also. Not everyone really likes the phone as much as the enthusiasts here do but they just say its a good phone to give themselves a feel good factor..

The real verdict.. is to test the headphones for urself before buying. rclxms.gif

okok... aspire see whether u trust me or not... i give u my honest opinion in general without bias....

1. for stereo bluetooth, i believe 503 is one of the top range product that can provide great quality...

2. comparing stereo wireless headset with wired headset... 99.99% no fight

3. Value for money.... 503 definitely worth RM300 but not more

4. Quality vs Value of needs.... its not necessary to use 503 since it cant give u best audio on your tube, mayb just give u a quality of 95%

if u wan go detail... when u purchase wired headset... it's best that you purchase a gold tip headset as it can eliminate noise from ur music (it's very minor noise that normal person cant hear unless you're highly-trained or using equipment). inside wired headset there's copper line to transfer the music... but when u talk about wireless.. there's no line when wind blow in between ur bluetooth stereo and handphone... there will be noise.... the risk of getting noise in ur 503 is higher comparing to a wired headset

different ppl different. Some prefer the freedom of wireless feeling.
Cable very annoying if u pull the cable too long sometimes it get tangle easily . Too short u must pull it then after awhile the earphone will spoil. When this bluetooth i can keep the phone in the pocket or handbag without attract too much attention.

Sometimes u listening using wire u accidentally stand up the bloody wire will pull your phone and fly to the floor. And u will be excited to pick t upp.

if your original mp3 is in 128kbps, 160kbps, 192kbps or what ever in between.. you dont need to RE-encode it to a higher kbps because the sound quality would still be the same and it would just take up more space..

i would suggest re-encoding a higher kbps mp3 file to 192kbps to save space and because usually it wont make a difference in quality.. because most people out there re-encode it from a lower kbps to a higher kbps..no use..

Wired = Copper line (it can minimized possible noise that intefere)
Wireless = No wire (Only possible way to eliminate noise or lower the noise is thru internal DSP like how 503 built)

Wired = Try to maintain unpolluted sound wave
Wireless = Try to eliminate possible noise from polluted sound wave and reproduction of how the sound would be like using technology..

Wired = Landline phone, ur house phone.
Wireless = Mobile phone
Difference? try to make a call to ur overseas fren with both your mobile and your landline, you'll get it...

Basically it's all about, Speed, Reproduction, Pollution, Noise, Sound that used to form a music for both wired and wireless music output

Agreed... hmm.gif

Really guys, whatever headphone you use, whatever brand, specs etc., A2DP (or whatever bluetooth variations of) WILL COMPLETELY BUTCHER your SQ (yes, Google will say as such)... So, IMHO, it's worth it for the wireless freedom (just got myself a handy Gigabyte wireless mouse due to this), never for the SQ... hmm.gif

Again, I take that most DSPs on wireless A2DP headies are there to process the noise due to this fact - just to make it bareable, nothing more... hmm.gif

If you want GREAT sounding wireless, get a set using KLEER technology, of which I know only the SleekAudio SA6 Wireless Combo, the Opera what's-it's-name and the Senn something or another... They are crap expensive though (though the SA6s are not bad for a mid-tier wireless IEM solution)... sweat.gif

But again this depends entirely on the source (in this case, the Tube, which again, sounds just fine to my unanalytical ears - I agree it sounds CRAP on flat EQ because it ISN'T really iPod flat... Tweak for best performance)... hmm.gif

Nope, no FLAC... Not even OGG IINM... sweat.gif

As for AAC, it can be compressed more without losing as much quality (compared to MP3) supposedly, yes... biggrin.gif

I'll just stick to crappy, sempit freq-ranged MP3 (oh the butchered bottom and top end) just for the convenience of not having to REENCODE my ENTIRE library (most of which in MP3, some in FLAC/APE/MPC)... icon_rolleyes.gif

Lossless is lossless, crap MP3/AAC mana can fight? But same as how VHS (crap quality) won against Betamax (best tape quality), MP3s is everywhere, for some Godforsaken reason... biggrin.gif

I'm just goin' with the flow... brows.gif

Blame Apple for not making the iPod play only FLAC... If so everyone might be sharing FLAC files right now (NOT taking into consideration the fact that the iPod might not even be THAT successful if it didn't play AAC/MP3... Look at what happened to the Sony Walkmans and their ATRAC3? In the end they had to add in native MP3 support asso what?)... sweat.gif

Be very careful when you're buying the tube. Seriously after my experience there I can tell its the most easiest place to get cheated cos they either charge really high price or if they give u a good deal, most likely they replaced the accessories.

Btw

I tried playing the FLAC/CUE file on my PC and compare with the same song but on .mp3

I can't tell the difference... maybe I need special audio equipment to unleash the full potential on the FLAC files sweat.gif

Now now redscorpion I know you're very tempted to start your magic but I think its quite unfair to promote ya know.. jack sparrow? I think we shld recommend everyone to get their product key from Garmin. I mean if they want to look for it, they will eventually do it on their own. No need to teach them

Btw before I turn in for the night.. wanna share that Killme v1.35 is so much better than v1.30. If you can sign your v1.35 I say go for it because when i terminate all processes in 1.35 I can recover back 52mb of RAM. But previously in 1.30 I can only recover like 45mb.

Most ppl often question is this HP worth it or not... comparing this hp and that hp function and tings like that.... so i decided to write some simple guide below

Mobile selection and purchasing guide:
1. Money/Budget: How much money you have, what's your budget for ur new phone, this is the first constraint, what u buy is what u willing to spent... if you do not have budget constrain then you can go to next step.

2. Functionality and Performance: If you do not have budget constraint, then go for the best hp in the market, despite the price is skyrocketing till 2k-3k... if you thinking about issit worth it or not... then you can go to next step...

3.Value for money: Simple calculation on how to select your phone, 1st: List down all the function you hope you can acquire, 2nd: List down all the function that you must have, after u list down, then you can start comparing....... how? how to compare? below is the steps:
a. Put separate pricing for all the things you wan according to importancy. eg. GPS: RM200, WIFI: RM100, this is to quantify what you need and dont need.
b. Add up all the value together and you get a total price, the one with the highest price using this method will be the one that can satisfy you the most, however if you thinking worth it or not you will have to look at the difference of your ideal estimation and the actual price, lowest difference between ur estimation and actual will be the one u looking for.

according to information i provided, the combination should either be option 1 + option 3 or option 2 + option 3, either budget+value or without budget+value, following is an example i will show u all:

My pricing according function to my preference (Must have list):-
GPS = RM500 (Most important to my liking)
Wifi = RM400 (2nd to my liking)
MMS = RM350 (2nd important to me)
3G = RM300 (3rd important to me)
Video Recording = RM200 (not that important already)
Camera = RM100 (I got SLR with me... not really important)
Total = RM1850

My pricing according function to my preference (Additional component):
8 megapixel = RM20
5 megapixel = RM10
With flash = RM10
VGA Video recording = RM20
Additional card slot = RM10
HD Video recording = RM50

1. Phone A Original Price = RM2000:
Function: GPS = RM500, WIFI = RM400, 3G = RM300, MMS = RM350, 5MP Camera with flash = RM10+RM100+RM10, VGA Recording = RM200+RM20
Estimated Ideal Total Price = 500+400+300+350+10+100+10+200+20 = RM1890
Original minus Ideal total price = RM110 (lower price for better value)

2. Phone B Original Price = RM2400:
Function GPS = RM500, WIFI = RM400, 3G = RM300, MMS = RM350, 8MP Camera with flash = RM20 + RM100 + RM10, HD Video recording = RM200+RM50
Estimated Ideal Total Price= 500+400+300+350+100+200+RM50+RM20+RM10 = RM1930
Original minus Ideal total price = RM470 (higher price for best value)

For those who got dont mind paying or without budget constraint they should got for Phone B, for those who wan value for money, they should go for Phone A, as it can provide best satisfaction at a lower money for value.

Yea Omnia is twice the price of tube. Furthermore its WM6.

Ive decided to go for Nokia BH-503

Echo I think u miss out the part of OS. You should include limitation of software. Example S40 can cost up to 4K because of design.

Example WM6 ? Symbian? Its some advantages as well.

Thanks for the guide Echo. I guess camera is still quite important for me as I dont have a SLR or even a semi sad.gif I think im so used to the user-friendliness of Nokias sometimes im not willing to try other brands. I.e sms to multiple contact or MMS etc. Guess i just have to keep testing other phones before i actually commit. I have no questions about the software or functions of the 5800. Now the problem i have is that the 5800 looks cute and nice but 'cheap' compared to the Omnia but I dont like Omnia's design neither. In terms of design I love the iPhone, but the iPhone's specs and features is, SIGH.. the iPhone is just a outdated device with an extremely high $ tag. So how? Dilemma leh sweat.gif and like you guys said the Omnia is double the price of the 5800... rclxub.gif

Design wise, I have to agree... the iphone is the fashion choice. But it is just so outdated. And the plans that maxis are offering are a joke. They are selling a one year old phone for brand new prices. And I think a lot of people on this forum might be used to symbian. So there is the OS issue. As for the samsung hd, if you are thinking about that price range, and want the symbian os, then the n97 will be another option when it officially comes out. The good thing about the n97 is the onboard keyboard. And I just read that samsung is launching 13 new touch screen phones in the coming months. So... choices choices choices smile.gif Haha... personally, satisfied with the value for money of the tube, provided you can overlook the quality issues (earpiece, lcd, etc)

Hey aspire,

Got it working. Had to uninstall and delete the config.dat files from both stepcounter and sportstracker. It does not list 5800 there but it does work with our phone. Many users have used the software. It is pretty cool. Can track exercise, sleep, food, stress etc. Also can sync with stepcounter if you install that. Stepcounter can count how many steps you do in a day. Install and try it out smile.gif Me gonna start using it today, see how many steps i take in a day (using the accelerometer to determine how many steps we make)

Why don't you try both and you be the judge. And btw if you want to compare, download the latest

MFM = v1.46
MSM = 2.30b Gold

Then you can make the comparisson smile.gif

I think MSM not free tho'. For the MFM, it frequently update, but not so good with Borneo map. Besides, MFM is FREE. smile.gif

not only borneo actually.. MSM singapore map is still more detailed than MFM.

But for me I am using malfreemaps because I like the custom POI icons in it.. and the road names is more proper

I'm only using it for KL/Selangor so yeah their central region is awesome

OIC, for that, MFM should be suitable for you. Pennisular, get MFM, for Borneo, get MSM. But I will cost u a penny. tongue.gif

Look at the dust.. haha thats how sharp the camera is.

@ tachlio

Actually the technique is very simple.

1) MOST IMPORTANT. Set your ISO to low. If you set it to auto confirm got lots of noise. Auto ISO should only be used when there is low lighting.

2) Golden Rule of Photography - Always have enough light. Always.

3) Set the correct scene mode. The tube has several scene modes and each of them gives special advantages depending on what type of shot you are doing. My macro shots were taken using the 'Close Up' feature.

4) Press half way and ALWAYS wait till the camera focus (the reticule turns green). The phone will also beep when it turns green.

5) Steady Hands. The camera button for the tube is a bit plastic-ish. The button tactile response is not that good so a lot of times after pressing half way then wanna press to shoot, the camera will shake. So you have to train your finger la laugh.gif

Another trick you can do with the tube.

COLOR TONE <--- w00t

Normally phones have black & white / negative / sephia

The tube has one extra one which is called Vivid. Wanna see what vivid does?

user posted image
Look at how colourful the objects become. Take note, the items are not actually that bright in colour but with the vivid mode turned on, the colours are even more enhanced!

This technique can be used to take lomo style photos brows.gif

Hey guys I wanna ask a... what colour plectrum did you get with your tube? I bought my Avaxx red tube but got an ugly grey plectrum.. anyone wanna sell or swap their red plectrum?  blush.gif

What is a plectrum? smile.gif

Btw I went to Low Yat and Sg Wang today to play around with the 5800 and also the Omnia & iPhone. Besides the UI and design of the iPhone, its crap, no offence to the Apple fans. The Omnia has more 'functions' but the price is too steep compared to the 5800. Therefore, the 5800 is definitely more value-for-money without a doubt.

I'm beginning to like the 5800 very much. Spent 30 minutes at the Nokia shop playing with it tongue.gif
For original set the lowest offer I got is RM1,320. Anyone got a better bargain to recommend?
Im also trying to sell off my n95 first. Trying to get rid of it for RM700-800.

Also, i enquired about the BH-503 headset at the Nokia shop, they selling it for RM499 rclxub.gif

It looks like a guitar pick that is given with the phone. Actually it is used as a stylus.

The cheapest I found in lowyat is RM1280 Zitron set but it is only for blue colour.

LOL, I agreed with that also. The bottom line is, the scroll function is not so good.

Sometimes, when I deleted a sms from my inbox let's say the 50th msg. After successfully deleted it, the scroll go back to the top (the latest msg). It is quite annoying though for inbox that have many msgs like mine 3++ msgs in my inbox for the reason of maintenance of my msg. =(

Sigh just close the SMS and reopen you will be back on the top. Why do you want to scroll up?

Tips Longer finger nail very easy to scroll up and down or just use the guitar pick or stylus

The curse of v20. Was on a call then after i finished the call, all the lights lit up and the screen went blank. Only fix is to remove the battery. Cant restart the phone. Happens maybe twice a week. Only with v20. Really hope nokia releases a new firmware. My friend who is using v20 reported the same prob.

Happened to me once only. That time the GPS was running on the background then suddenly the call ended and it hang the screen become white. Then i took out the battery then suddenly the phone cant detect the memory card. After rubbing the memory card then its ok again.

Btw reference for those who want to knw

Garmin Mobile XT = USD$99.90
Garmin Malaysia/Singapore City Navigator NT Map = USD129.90 (But we usually urge people to use the free maps of MFM or MSM)

lol.. that's rude.. but i think u r the one should learn to read..

original poster said, given a situation he have 300 sms in his inbox, then he scroll down to the 50th sms , then he delete it, then the scroll go back to top.. that's annoying coz he will need to scroll down back to the 51st sms to delete next sms that he don't want.. he prefer if the scroll stays there only..

close the sms and reopen will bring him back to top, and that's what he don't want..

The map is not up to date. My house is not in the map at all... but there is one version quite good. The South East Asia City Navigator NT this combines all countries in SEA and it includes Thailand so those driving up north can use that but that map is even more expensive.

Hey guys,
I guess we could pay for the official maps. However, mfm are updated every 2 weeks and so far i have been using it and it has not let me down. I am sure the official maps are not updated that frequently. It is like windows vs linux. Just because we pay for windows does not mean it is better. Open source is the way and mfm is doing that well.

Btw I posted this in some other forums but I think it is only fair if I share with my fellow tubians here. Those who want a Chinese version of Garmin Mobile XT v5.00.40 you can download it here..

Download!

Maybe some of you might need it... I dunno.

The interface looks like this:

The official maps are probably outsourced to malaysians to make. And prob to those involved in mfm. So at the end of the day mfm is the way to go cause its done locally, updated frequently and is free. I am not a mfm spokesperson, just love their maps

If Nokia come out with a new firmware that allow us to use the touchscreen to unlock the phone instead of using the physical slide on the right, that would be better.

My slide getting loose as times go on. Kinda worried. It will 'mati pucuk'.

Bro how bad is the light leakage? Actually if under the light you don't see it, that is not light leak. Yes in pitch black dark we can see the light leak but the real people who face light leak can see it even in broad daylight. Is yours that bad?

Btw I have mentioned this before in the previous thread. The gap there is actually for heat ventilation that is why u see the light leak. If it is tight shut your phone is gonna heat up like a hot air baloon

Mine is not the one at the side of the phone. My lcd was fading/turning purple so I took it and got it fixed (they replaced it). Now I am having light leakage at several areas at the top of the phone. Not very obvious but I am guessing it is cause they did not fix the lcd perfectly. So the light leak at the side is not something that we want them to fix, might heat up the phone? Cause I was gonna ask them to fix all the light leakage. . .

IF the gap is TOO BIG = light leak in broad daylight = NOT GOOD... A little light leak should be acceptable, the heat ventilation thingy I stumbled upon on the Nokia Forums, in the worst case it should be partly true... biggrin.gif

When u ask them to fix light leakage they won't replace you a cover. What they do is tighten the screw that holds the cover then making the gap smaller. Actually the hole there is meant for the media button's light to disperse heat. If u look carefully in it, u will see the gap is just for the media button part. If they can seal it out they already did that in production

U look carefully in the gap u will see the hole is nicely cut just for the xpressmusic media button. The size is too precise for it to be a mistake

Thanks man,

Will prob go but just ask them to sort out the light coming out from the top of the screen and not the hole that is present for ventilation. Mine is a unique case, cause after the lcd was changed there is slight light coming out from the top of the screen. Think they just have to tighten the screw on the top or something (hope: fingers crossed smile.gif

You click the cross arrows u will be brought to 'Connectivity' and you can turn on stuff like your bluetooth and wifi. Kinda cool shortcut

Although it would be cooler if the UTMS/GSM switch can be done through a program, like BTSwitch... Highlighted this over at Symbian-Freaks but nobody really knew how (or was interested to code something of the sort)... sweat.gif

Oh well, am sticking to EDGE data while in Mobile (read: casual walking around surfing = most of the time) mode anyway, only switch to 3G if it's really important that I have the speed (aka, watching FRANCE24 free streaming TV, crap cool!)... sweat.gif

EDGE seems speedy enough for me and keeps the battery from dying TOO quickly... biggrin.gif

@ tabletennis

lineout is actually used to play the tube with external speakers... I don't think there is a bad effect except maybe ur ear's health because the earphones are only meant to take a certain level of sound you know?

lineout suppose for TV. Maybe its to prevent your bijou earpiece burst. Because TV speaker/ WIFI or bigger output device can support high volume

Found this stats about the tube from gsmarena

Stand-by Up to 406 h (2G) / 408 h (3G)
Talk time Up to 8 h 45 min (2G) / 5 h (3G)
Music play Up to 35 h

Looks like standby time for 3G is higher than 2G but talk time is less by almost 4 hours difference.. shocking.gif thats a lot!

And 35 hours of non-stop music... sure anot? laugh.gif

it means that lineout has higher volume and would probably damage a small-med sized headphone plus it would probably make your ears hurt

Im using bijou3 earphone n i notice something..its when i plug in the earphone to my tube, they will prompt me with 'lineout','headphone',music stand'n 'tv out'...i've been choosing lineout for my bijou3 n it sounded vry loud but when i choose headphone ,the sound will be vry soft...anyone noe y?? N is there any disadvantage of choosing lineout n not headphone while using earphone?
*
if i'm not mistaken, for 'lineout' mode, the audio will bypass the internal amp, so it's more suitable if u wanna couple the DAP (in this case 5800) with an amp (with or without DAC).. if u wanna plug in just the earphone/headphone, it would be best to use 'headphone' mode as it will use the internal amp and stuff, making it suitable for ur listening..

No offense, but u really need to REREAD IT again... Dont be so cocky...

[ADDED]
Let me explain in details incase some kids doesnt know what the problems faced by the user.

The user explained that he/she has a lot of SMS and required to delete some of it. After he deleted some of the SMS in the middle of the list, the phone scroll back to the top of the list. He DOESNT want this to happen.

And one smart guy suggested him to close inbox and go back in. It's still showing top list of the inbox. Doesnt even answers the question.

Fyi, i'm been using Symbian since it's launched. This problem not being fixed yet.

Hi, anyone's tube has such problem:

i can't use the AD-54 to make handsfree call?

I tested the AD-54, mic/headphone working in recording/playing..
just when I make a call with the handsfree on, the sound still from the earpiece on the phone not the handsfree. Mic also from the phone one...

e_trade_pj bestest offer was 1330.
but the guy who attend me was very nice and catter good service, so i straight away buy.
im not good w/ freebies bargain, so i only get screen protector
*
should get e-trade_pj his service is not only good but the price reasonable in the market.

2ndly its not how good a person attend to u its how honest and reasonable the person is. Let say he treat so good before u pay? After u pay he treat u like ure an enemy how? You get what i mean. As a buyer we pay for after service not before service.

In my past years i met some seller very good before purchase i didnt even know he remove some stuff from the box. I went confront him back the next day he said to me who ask u didnt check properly.

There is no such thing as a perfect thing. Furthermore ask yourself can u get all the tube features from another brand? Like HTC? Be glad u got one.

My fren got HTC cruise cost him like RM2800 and the camera worse than 5800 XM

yeah,

there is a walkway between times square. The NCC is at the walkway level. What are you going for? If you are going for ur lcd you should call and make sure they have stock first.

Step 9 - You should have received your device unlock code from the manufacturer of Garmin, however if you haven’t, there are instructions on the Internet to guide you on how to get yours.

My only can last two days (the most and I off my phone while sleeping).

Only used the phone to call, receive call and surf net (for 30 mins)

Turning it off and then on will greatly suck the battery life out. The phone needs to search for a signal and boot up necessary operations and get itself ready for use. This uses up more power. Use offline mode while you're sleeping, it'll save more power.

2.5 days should be within reach. Mine can last 3 days normally with 4-5 hours a day of music playing and putting it in offline mode while playing music and at work.

Why? 2 days is good.
Surfing the net is another batt sucker. If you just put your phone in offline mode while sleeping it should give you an extra half a day or so.

Right, so has anyone sucessfully signed KillMe Ver 1.30? Apparently signing with devcert doesn't work as it needs some 'Power Management' cert which I have no idea what exactly is it.

Actually there is a cheaper alternative Garmin XT USD$99.90 that doesn't come with the City Navigator street maps. Then they can just use MFM or MSM. Save money that way.

for 5.00.40, considering u have already set TSR to off in the Garmin app settings, u may need to restart ur phone once or twice for TSR to behave correctly

note:GARMIN is paid application. you have to buy in order to use. there's alternative but that's piracy. that's one's option. up to you but dont promote it to others. as for the usage, GPS is free and aGPS is chargeable. get ur map from MFM or MSM.but i prefer MFM.

is the power consumption of using headphones compared to using the speakers of the phone same ? less right ?  unsure.gif

Speakers consume more power than headphones. The exact difference I dunno. There was a discussion on this in the earlier versions of this thread. Try getting more info from there.

If I send the phone to ZItron, will they update the firmware to latest one for me?? Is the V21 the latest?
*
V20 is the latest firmware. V21 is only a rumour that has yet to be confirmed.

My tube can successfully sign into MSN everytime. You need to use your Fring account to sign in the first time and then only select MSN or any other messenger to sign in.

Well this morning went to the NCC at Plaza Berjaya. I went downstairs and there was no customer but the lady at the counter (who looked like a new staff) told me need to wait 1 to 2 days before I can get back my tube because they need to diagnose it.

I said screw it. I went upstairs to the 13th floor to their HQ and tried there. The lady at the counter there immediately took my phone to the technician and asked what was the problem. Immediately she came back and told me this is not really a problem but all the handset is like that for Nokia no matter what model. Lucky I went up straight if not I would have waited 1~2 days for nothing.

Oh well at least my tube will still be a virgin... no operation on it yet rolleyes.gif

When using normal handset, the phone works fine. WHen turn to loudspeaker, my friend will tell me my voice like choppy then cut cut.. then got buzzing sound.

The lady told me, the mic for both handset and loudspeaker is the same but they work differently under the 2 modes. When u use loudspeaker, the mic has to know when to silent the mic when ur friend is talking (cos the speaker is on loud) and turn it on again when you are talking. So sometimes the mic will screw up.

You guys can test with your tubes and see if it is the same.. if not then maybe I am just one of the many unlucky ones. Cos she said many Nokia 5800 users already complained about this and actually prior to this model the same issue already surface.
