QUOTE(ericpires @ May 21 2009, 06:06 PM) I've heard from someone in Maxis that they've only sold 11,000 pcs, this is not up to the target they set about 100,000. Seems the `buzz` about the Iphone have died down with their truly ridiculous priced packages. And they will be revising their packages soon... to overcome the slow sales.. but this is yet to be confirmed I am sure they are desperate to get rid of the 150,000 units that they have commited to apple. Since new iphone 4G is around the corner. However, I am sure they have a limit that they must maintain in terms of pricing. I am sure apple will not allow them to simply throw pricing to spoil the image of iphone's target on highend market.I doubt there will be anymore "significant" price difference. Maybe slightly better plans offered with the phone. If you intend to get, the latest iplan seems to be quite reasonable. At least for people already using value plan 50 like me. |

I believe the respective telcos in the countries where iPhones are available are left to their own devices to package them with their plans to meet their commitments to Apple. Just look at Japan....they resorted to giving away free iPhones as it was not popular or in demand there. Who knows, if you want to chance it and do not mind waiting, Maxis may, when the new version is lauched, just do likewise. Otherwise the likes of DiGi or Celcom may be appointed as well or in replacement, by Apple for the Malaysian market. Needless to say, Maxis does not want that to happen.I doubt there will be anymore "significant" price difference. Maybe slightly better plans offered with the phone. When I got my iPhone at Gardens Mid Valley Maxis center, I was directed to a corner where the service desk activation counter was. They will also help you to copy/sync contacts from your old WinMo or Symbian fone if you want to.
I am sure Maxis will not jailbreak for you, especially at it's center. |

if it's true that to date maxis only sold 11,000 units, then they still have stocks about 139,000 units. in terms of value that's RM139 million (assuming maxis cost is at dirt cheap of RM1,000 per unit). at this rate they will lucky if maxis can sell another 50,000 units. if the maxis new plans doesn't push sales, i'm sure another plan will be introduced or maybe maxis may just reduced the price. if we can be patience for another 1 or 2 months, we maybe we'll in for some better deals from maxis. i maybe wrong but only time will tell. anyway not able to use iphone now does not make your life miserable, no money makes my life miserable.
its inevitable for us to compare prices, even with neighboring country (i don't dare to uses the taboo word S**g**l). it help us decide whether we want to buy iphone from maxis. In my opinion that's not off topic. PS:i have mentioned maxis many time here so that some people does not think my opinion is off topic. i rarely write so much, i hope some people does not get offended with this statement and decided to flame me or delete my post. i am just like all low yat forumers, just wanted to express my sincere, honest and humble opinion. thank you and have a nice day. |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ May 25 2009, 12:09 PM) duh... i got a warning from davidgary73... my 1st since i was a member... I'm not warning you mate. You can "duh" all you want and feel that this is your first warning. I'm merely asking you to stick to the thread topic. We are staying in Malaysia and so happens Maxis is the only telco that offers 3G iPhone plan. So..this thread is made to facilitate to the upcoming buyers who choose to buy from Maxis may it be expensive(with warranty, repair solutions and one to one exchange for faulty units). BTW we are just comparing... i don think that is violating the rules... our price here is too high!!!! my fren just got it for $400 with a $65 plan... here... Everyone knows it's cheaper to get from S'pore but we are not living/having citizenship in Singapore which is required to signup a plan. Another option is to buy S'pore 3G iPhone units from Garagesale sellers. Simple as that. No hard feeling intended mate. Just prefer to keep this thread to help those who plan to buy/signup Maxis 3G iPhone plan. Cheers This post has been edited by davidgary73: May 25 2009, 12:47 PM |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ May 25 2009, 12:09 PM) duh... i got a warning from davidgary73... my 1st since i was a member... Please do some research before you simply compare the iphone cost by mistake.BTW we are just comparing... i don think that is violating the rules... our price here is too high!!!! my fren just got it for $400 with a $65 plan... here... RM1510? Don't be kidding, you need to pay RM400 more for prepayment. In total you need to pay 1.9K to get the iphone on the spot instead of 1.5K. Price too high? but hassle-free... |
