I just got my Maxis iPhone today. I was being told the Maxis Data Plan can be used on other fone. Eg. I'll use the iPhone for my DiGi line where else the Maxis sim-card (with data plan) to be used on my other 3.5G fone. Is it possible?

Reason for asking because the sales person told me the Maxis Simcard has to be tied to the iPhone and can't be used on other fone.

But the person who activated my iPhone (different day) at Maxis said I can use the Maxis Simcard on any other fone to utilize the data plan. So there's a conflict here. Anyone can comment?

I know I can use the simcard on my other fone which I am doing it right now. But can I utilize the 3G data package (500mb per month) with my other 3.5G fone?

I got to know the salesperson told me that the 500mb data CAN ONLY BE UTILIZED by iPhone and not other fones. If I still insist to use, I won't be able to utilize the 500mb but instead, will be charged RM10 per 1mb.

Wanna make this clear before I start surfing web with it...

Hey buddy,

Did u download the data using iPhone or other 3G phone. I was being told by the salesman that the data package ties ONLY to iPhone but I reconfirm TWICE with other Maxis personel, one the person who activates my iPhone and another one, the call center, they both said that the data package can be used in other fone as long as it's a 3G fone. I tried surfing web with other 3G fone and I was being charged under OUTSTANDING BILL. The outstanding bill is charged above the RM100 commitment per month, can only know when the bill comes.

a) Salesman - data package ONLY for iPHone for RM100 commitment. If use other fone, it will charge RM5 per MB.

b) Maxis iPhone Activator and Call Center Personel - data package of RM100 commitment can be used on any other 3G fones. Over 500mb of data, Rm5 per MB will be charged.

So I dunno which is true now, A or B.

iPhone 3G will automatic go online sometime without your notice, try to go to Settings - General - Usage .... check how many MB you have used so far... very accurately...

RM0.01/KB ... 1MB = RM10.00 ... my wife just complain to me her phone bill shoot up immediately after 1 week she using my newly bought iPhone 3G... I registered iValue RM250 on my maxis line but not her maxis line, that's why she being charged whenever iPhone 3G go online... currently the usage shown 4MB and already charged her account RM40.00+...

My wife just called 123 to cancel her 3G service since she seldom use that service, she only like the sleek design of iPhone and the iPod feature only...

while myself has the 2GB data usage because of signed up on this iValue RM250... everyday surf net on my HTC HD also won't hit that limit... hehe...

For your information, the Advance Payment already waived off by Maxis ... I got my iPhone 3G without the need of paying the advance payment... You can call Maxis 123 to confirm...

for you... good luck!

Daniel,

Can you please confirm that you can use the iValue package on other hardware (other 3G fone) and not being charged extra? Look at my previous message. Reason why I ask so much is because I got the package because of the fone, like yr wife but I do not want the data package, hence I passed the line to my wife to surf web on my LG-KS20. I only want the fone. So far, the fone is great!

just to clear here bro...

the data charge is follow sim card not phone this mean u can use the sim card to surf by using any phone as long as not more that the limit they provide for you.... don't worry about my early statement bout my bill shoot up to RM400++ that one is their system mistake now my bill up to date is just RM10++

one think t share is dont use more that RM50 for voice call (I-value 100 user)
if more then our bil at the end is not RM100 already and pls do register online for e-billing to waive for RM5 if not later they will send hard copy bill to yr house and kena buta to pay RM100+ 5% tax + RM5 (hard copy bill)  sweat.gif

Thank you very much for clearing the air for me, bro Alexkwlee. This question has been haunting me since I got the iPhone and my wife is using the line on my other 3G fone (LG-KS20). I dare not ask her to surf web because the salesperson told me the data package ties to the iPhone and somehow, Maxis is able to detect the IMEI number of the hardware to charge accordingly.

I also just got the confirmation today by calling the Call-Center again! (for the 2nd time) and also, I have a friend using the Rm50 +50 family value package, telling me that Unbilled Amount will be deducted from commitment I use, as long as I dont shoot above 333 mins or 500mb data download.

Thank you.... yay, can surf web openly now with my other fone. biggrin.gif

PS: will register for ebilling right away!

Thanks for explaining. The iPHone is using DiGi line now and I just checked my DiGi, zero for GPRS. Yeah, when I run my Safari, it says NO DATA CONNECTION AVAILABLE, then it's fine. Thanks for sharing brother!

Anyone experiencing problem with the new iPhone? As in, unusually low reception and frequent disconnections with your line. Sometimes my friends can't even get me when my phone is on all the time. Or when we talk, got disconnections and like, sometimes they can hear me, then cannot hear, then can hear. I don't know if it's the phone problem or my SIM card problem. This is because when I changed to the new iPhone plan with Maxis I also gotten a new SIM card from them that can store more contacts.

Anyone experience this problem before and can help me relieve my problem? sad.gif

It depends a lot on the area which you're in. If the signal line is strong, then it's fine. I face similar problems in office but not else where. If yours is happening all the time and anywhere you go, then u might wanna send it back to Maxis and check.

nothing biggie... I registred for a new Maxis line to get the iPhone. I told the guy I am NOT gonna use the Maxis line, I just get it for the sake of the iPhone. I told him I use DiGi. So out goes my DiGi simcard from my KS20 into the iPhone for activation. THey don't care much la... as long as you pay the RM100 contract per month for 12 mths.

After consideration of the iPhone price from 'grey market' and warranty issue, I am willing to pay slightly more. The extra line is lying at home, at time will be used by my wife to surf web and for my daugther to make calls.

As the matter of fact, I do... I doubly-save each contact with 2 fone numbers. 1 with 01xxxxx and another one with +01xxxxx. With this, both my SMS and Caller ID will appear. This is not the first time I had this problem cos last time, my MotoSLVR has the same problem.

My case is different.. cos I inherited the old contact setup from my very old fones last time, eg. Alex@HS and Alex@OFF and Alex@HP.. so Alex has 3 contacts in my fonebook. House, Office and Handphone. So what I did was to save double number for Alex@HP, one with 012 and one with +6012.

It has been like these for me since my Mobikom days back in 1994.

Guys, can someone confirm please.
I've asked this before, but no one responded yet.

Can we use the iValue Plan features (airtime minutes & data) on non-iPhone phones, like Nokia, etc?

Or must they really only tie to the iPhone unit itself.
*
I was being told that the data plan MUST BE TIED TO iPhone when I inquire initially but then, I called up Maxis twice and made an official inquiry thru email, they replied me and CONFIRMED that YOU CAN USE the iVALUE data plan on any 3G phone! So don't worry.

I am using DiGi on my iPhone and have the 3G line in my LG-KS20 leave at home for my kids and wife to play and surf web. 1st month billing cut off, no problemo!

I already paid to the maxis guy but that guy said need wait post laju send the phone to my house, cos avoid lost. is that true?

I got my set right on the day I registered a new iValue plan line. It was The Gardens Maxis Center at Mid Valley. I went to those 'smaller' centers and they told me I need to pay deposit, register for the line and wait 24 hrs for activation. Upon activation, ONLY I collect my iPhone. In other words, smaller Maxis centers DO NOT keep stock for iPhone, so they put it this way. They order it and send to you later.

U need to get yr iPhone activated, so it's better to open the unit in front of Maxis iPhone helpdesk and activate it.

1) U dun need to charge for 8 hrs for first use. Just fully charge it and yr good to go.

2) iPhone is smart, it has 'proximity' sensor that when u talk on the fone, it disables the screen so that ur cheek will not accidentaly touches the screen that causes any 'input'. Hence it goes blank. After u talk, wait for 2 seconds, the screen will come back.

Advised you to download the manual from Apple webpage to learn more about the fone.

So if I were to sign up for iValue 100 Plan, I've to pay RM1910 (8GB) on the spot during registration for the first time and pay RM100 monthly? Is that it?
*
Tht is correct. U missed one thing, u also need to pay rm200 more as deposit. Hence altogether rm2100.
