This is true to what nokia2003 mentioned.
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 17 or 15 digit code used to identify an individual mobile station to a GSM or UMTS network. The IMEI number provides an important function; it uniquely identifies a specific mobile phone being used on a mobile network. The IMEI is a useful tool to prevent a stolen handset from accessing a network and being used to place calls. Mobile phone owners who have their phones stolen can contact their mobile network provider and ask them disable a phone using its IMEI number. With an IMEI number, the phone can be blocked from the network quickly and easily. It is important to note that swapping a SIM card will not stop a phone from being banned. IMEI numbers are stored in the phones themselves, not on the SIM cards. Source: http://www.gsm-security.net/faq/imei-inter...ntity-gsm.shtml |

QUOTE(jason111785 @ Apr 12 2009, 09:03 AM) Question.. the iValue 12 155 commitment package, does the 667 mins include sms charges already ? OR is it sms charges is in-additional to the monthly 155 ? for example 0.10/sms - send 100 sms = rm10, month end bill would be rm165? If you only take sometime to read the first post of this thread 'Rate Plans', the answer is already provided since March 24th and on Maxis site. Please read. @PeeEl and deepan84 Thank you for answering these questions but it would be great if you guys refer them noobs to the first post or Maxis site given that these simple answers already provided. @Mike3300 and PeeEl
You can buy the phone outright. Just called them last night and they confirmed that anyone can walkin to Maxis center and purchase the phone without signing up a prepaid plan, contract etc. You can choose to sign up the prepaid plan if you want and get the 500MB data for 12 months etc. 8GB for RM 2540 and 16GB for RM 2960 @lil_fuzz It works with the current plan you subscribed to. Your current existing plan + RM 99(3GB data) and choose either 12 or 24 months contract. You still need to purchase the phone too depending on the contract you are sigining up. QUOTE(jind86 @ May 20 2009, 11:01 PM) hi there guys, would like to ask two questions.. Hey jind86..the 3G iPhone has the same spec, no diff. The only differences is the either the iPhone is lock or officially unlock. 1) whats the difference between maxis iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G from overseas? 2) are there functions in the iPhone 3G which are not compatible in malaysia? if yes, which ones? thanks.. |

QUOTE(jind86 @ May 21 2009, 03:04 PM) besides spec wise, any other diff? like there's difference in terms of warranty also right? like if i get an iPhone from sg i wont be able to claim warranty here isnt it? Correct. Warranty claim from the country you buy the iPhone from. Sadly, there's no Applecare for iPhone available here. |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ May 25 2009, 12:09 PM) duh... i got a warning from davidgary73... my 1st since i was a member... I'm not warning you mate. You can "duh" all you want and feel that this is your first warning. I'm merely asking you to stick to the thread topic. We are staying in Malaysia and so happens Maxis is the only telco that offers 3G iPhone plan. So..this thread is made to facilitate to the upcoming buyers who choose to buy from Maxis may it be expensive(with warranty, repair solutions and one to one exchange for faulty units). BTW we are just comparing... i don think that is violating the rules... our price here is too high!!!! my fren just got it for $400 with a $65 plan... here... Everyone knows it's cheaper to get from S'pore but we are not living/having citizenship in Singapore which is required to signup a plan. Another option is to buy S'pore 3G iPhone units from Garagesale sellers. Simple as that. No hard feeling intended mate. Just prefer to keep this thread to help those who plan to buy/signup Maxis 3G iPhone plan. Cheers This post has been edited by davidgary73: May 25 2009, 12:47 PM |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ May 25 2009, 12:31 PM) er... hassle free... i duno woh... since there are no official Apple service center can accept this iphone... I reckon air is saying that it's hassle free as Maxis provides warranty, repair and one to one exchange for fault 3G iPhone units purchased from them without having to travel far and wide. Btw, Maxis does repair 3G iPhone according to xaw5126 post. This post has been edited by davidgary73: May 25 2009, 01:00 PM |

As for the trade in, there's a small catch.
Trade in only valid from 28thMay till 18th June 1) It depends on the condition of your iPhone and how old is the phone. 2) They require all items as per the Original box set (USB, Dock etc) APR, MEP and Maxis Centre will validate the condition of your iPhone and they will proceed to trade in with a certain amount. To trade in and get a 8GB 3G iPhone, you need to pay either RM770 - device and headset only RM 820 - no box but allUSB cable, dock etc available RM 870 - Complete Set To trade in and get a 16GB 3G iPhone, you need to pay either RM950 - device and headset only RM1000 - no box but all USB cable, dock etc available Rm1050 - Complete Set You don't have to singup a contract. Is optional. This post has been edited by davidgary73: May 29 2009, 07:36 PM |

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ May 29 2009, 07:32 PM) Oh my goodness, this is seriously a very catchy and good deal. I'm considering! Guess what..they gave me wrong info. Darn..Added on May 29, 2009, 7:35 pmI have a full set unit of my iPhone classic, so I have to pay just RM870 for an 8GB iPhone 3G? The latest updated they gave is ... You need to sign up a contract. So the break down is this: Your trade in price of your 2G iPhone regardless if you plan to get a 3G 8G or 16GB will be :- 1) RM 390 if you have everything (Full Box) 2) RM 340 if you don't have the box but you have all the USB, Dock etc 3) RM 290 if you only have the device and headset. So if you sign up a 1 year plan which is RM 1910, with the trade in price of your phone for only RM 390, your full payment will be RM1580. Can someone call Maxis centre to confirm this as i have made 3 calls to them. This post has been edited by davidgary73: May 29 2009, 08:14 PM |
