QUOTE(samngcheesan @ May 15 2009, 03:41 PM) the light green will be RM 50 for 500MB = iPhone 2000 / Dark green will be 99 for 3GB = iPhone RM 1700 nice, they just updated the page for http://maxis.com.my/personal/iphone/rateplan2.asp#ratelooks like theres no more two different pricing on 24months/12months or RM50 for 500MB data... just RM99 for 3GB data now. |

Maxis is trying to get rid of their old stocks. They got the contract at the wrong time. Anyhow , they have managed to secure some of its customers for a long time. If you come and think about it , its worth it (if you're lite user like me who makes use of 500MB data on the go). I tried of thinking of getting SG unit (but then saving few 100 bucks isn't good)
michael9413, its somewhat wrong to convert like that . RM 1500 here and RM 900 there. You must understand Singapore's cost of living , plus take a look at how their plan over there works. Even my Singaporean friend says its overpriced there. Their call rates sucks , you'll be charged for incoming calls (notice there it says outgoing only not for incoming). So do your maths and see. People just seem to get carried away when iPhone is cheaper in country x and country y. Its a different case if you want to buy the iPhone outside instead of Maxis and would like to save money and so on |

when the Maxis release the Hotlink Prepaid plan for iPhone 3G 8GB with RM2540, no contract? released recently only? quite attractive! as now forum seller selling SG unit at RM2400. better add few hundred buy this Maxis unit, as warranty claim is convenient. but 3rd generation iPhone is coming soooon... must hold on first... if later the 3rd generation iPhone, Maxis also come out this Hotlink prepaid plan, i sure will get one unit! So how the Prepaid plan works actually? I'm curious on this part, it's not like we pay RM2540 for 8GB model and just top up every month on any amount we want and Maxis wouldn't make things simple isn't it?

I think it is that simple.....even with your existing prepaid account you can just purchase an iPhone and they give you free data usage for a period as well.I believe Maxis is embarking on a dilution of stock exercise to meet their commitment to Apple and of course in anticipation of the imminent appearance of the new version. So, it is basically an out-right purchase of the iPhone albeit you have to buy their Pre-paid package which of course you can choose not to top up after exhaustion of credits. That is why to discourage that, they give free data usage for 12 months. |

@Mike3300 and PeeEl
You can buy the phone outright. Just called them last night and they confirmed that anyone can walkin to Maxis center and purchase the phone without signing up a prepaid plan, contract etc. You can choose to sign up the prepaid plan if you want and get the 500MB data for 12 months etc. 8GB for RM 2540 and 16GB for RM 2960 @lil_fuzz It works with the current plan you subscribed to. Your current existing plan + RM 99(3GB data) and choose either 12 or 24 months contract. You still need to purchase the phone too depending on the contract you are sigining up. very attractive prepaid plan...
but if Maxis really sold out all their iPhone3G stock, then if the buyer iPhone faulty within the warranty period, that means no more 1 to 1 replacement on the spot! because they have no stock already! or they will replace us with 3rd generation iPhone? 1 year warranty only seem not really enough, some more no Apple Protection Plan for iPhone. i will endure until June WWDC, wait for review of 3rd generation iPhone first. (and maybe until 3rd generation release, Maxis still have a lot of iPhone3G on hand, maybe price will reduce! hehe) |
