1 question: I believe almost everyone here upgrade to FW2.1 already. Anyone feels that its laggy when it comes to Contacts and Text and sometimes when you are typing a msg?

It happened in FW 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 but according to apple, they have fixed it in FW 2.1 but still some users claim that it is still laggy. For me, it has improved. But if u on ur ipod, of course it will lag.

that happened to me once when i was on 2.1 (first gen). but a subsequent restoration a week later, solved the problem. hence i can only safely assume that the first update to 2.1 didn't go so well.


however, if you are taking up my advice, it is recommended to set the phone as new (and refrain from using the backup as yours is the first gen)

Nope. Infact i hardly on the iPod. I usually play games to keep me entertained.

Before upgrading, everything was fine. But after upgrading to FW2.1, my text will lag up to 4 seconds.



That means... everything habis even my contacts?

Not really, u will only loose ur messages and some settings. As u have all the apps.music.movies.vids sync through ur itunes so u can sync them back after u do a restore. But if u dun have mobileme, u can sync ur contact to windows address book, then after u restore ur iphone, sync it back then. The point is dun del it/them from ur pc.

Another suggestion. You can manually backup contacts, notes, sms, calender. Head over to

After you JB, place those files back to the phone. had my smses, notes calender etc back on the phone.

anyway, looking at the rate threads are being created in specific to where/how/advantages and dis- of puchasing iphones from different countries et cetera, i reckon that it will be a good idea to create a pinned up thread. this thread will be dedicated to provide useful information to all prospective iphone 3g owners. hopefully there will not be anymore silly questions (fingers crossed) after this.


however in the mean time, i do need some input from our brothers/sisters who are currently based in HK/NZ/australia/singapore and those countries providing unlocked units (hence this will include users like psyeo, Clarencerx, mangoman (you guys know who you are)). kindly PM me methods/total price to obtain iphone 3gs from your respective countries and i will quote you for my upcoming thread. or any alternative methods/cheapest way (by hook or crook) will also be welcomed. for example purchasing it from another high street store and then obtain the unlock code et cetera.


i will then, use my own discretion to compile all of them up.
