as i know jail break means allow u to use 3rd party software in ur iphone.

but what does it means? does it means if u don jail break means u totally cant use any app from cydia/installer???
only can use those app from apple store?
*
A non JB'ed iphone will not be able to install any apps from Cydia/Installer will not be availble to you but you can purchase apps or download free apps from AppStore.

A JB'ed iphone can have both Cydia/Installer and Apps from AppStore.

Cooliris

Previous update:
We’ve temporarily pulled the application out of the iTunes Store, but will have a new version up shortly. We were recently alerted to a bug in Apple’s firmware v2.1 that affects a small number of applications during the uninstall process. Unfortunately, our app fell into that group. Because we’re unsure as to when Apple will be able to fix the bug in its code, we decided to create a workaround for our app. The good news is, we already have a new version submitted, and we look forward to getting it out to you at the iTunes Store or at apple.com/itunes/.

Cooliris is available again(Free). Link Below.

Another suggestion. You can manually backup contacts, notes, sms, calender. Head over to

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/830708

and look at No 15.

After you JB, place those files back to the phone. had my smses, notes calender etc back on the phone.

Clarifi: Your iPhone is Ready for its Close-Up

Griffin, purveyor of fine plastic add-ons for iGadgets everywhere, has released the Clarifi, an iPhone case with a small close-up lens that can be slid into place over the crappy built-in objective.
As things stand, the iPhone's camera is little more than a tick on an internal Apple spec sheet -- if the company could have gotten away with shipping a camera-free cellphone, it probably would have. But despite its limitations, it is at least useful for taking notes, and scanning barcodes. Or is it? The lack of autofocus means that the iPhone camera can't get close up and stay sharp.
Thus, the iClarifi was born. The pitch is that the slide-over close-up lens lets you scan barcodes and snap pictures of text. This is useful for programs like Evernote, which will whisk your pictures off to its servers and return them with optically recognized characters baked in.
The irony is that these kinds of plastic slide-in lenses are extremely old-school. I used to have a little 110 format camera (a Halina, if I remember correctly) which had a switch to flip between the lenses (both of which were poor). By leaving such basic functionality out of the iPhone, Apple remains a darling amongst the third party accessory makers, although for the customer, all these add-ons do is to add-on to the cost. $35.

Simport only works on Fw 1.1.4 or below, not on Fw 2.0.x - 2.1. An option is available to port all contacts from sim card with Fw 2.1.

Refer to this thread.

iModem (Windows Only) Now Lets You Tether Over USB Cable.

Tethering your iPhone for internet use can be a real life-saver when there's no Wi-Fi around, but for those who aren't the most tech-savy, the tinkering with proxy settings and the like can be a little too complicated. Thankfully those times may be coming to a close. Unofficial tethering app iModem has just released an update that lets you tether your iPhone via USB cable.
Previous to this, tethering apps used the iPhone's Wi-Fi capabilities to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot that was connected to the cellular data network. The new iModem is the first tethering app to change this. Instead of messing with settings, you can just connect your iPhone to your laptop through USB cable to share internet.

Discover (AppStore - Free)

- allows you to easily transfer files between your iPhone and any other iPhone or computer via a Wifi network. You can set a password to protect your private files and only share public volume to your friends.

The app is quit simple to use, by launching Discover it will find your friends iPhone’s wifi network, and after authorizing your connection request you can browse his/her iPhone content, select the content and swap it onto your iPhone.

Can you check the phone under Settings/General/About and look for IMEI. Is there IMEI any number? Yes or No? Don't type the number. Just yes or no will do.

iPhone firmware update 2.2 in 10 days?

iPhoneHellas.gr claims that the iPhone 2.2 firmware will become available on November 21st based on what they describe as a "reliable" source. Meanwhile, Gizmodo also describes the iPhoneHellas site as "reliable" but we at MacRumors have had very little experience with the site.

iPhoneHellas.gr also recaps the new features that have been found to be in the early 2.2 iPhone betas:
- New look for the Safari with the Google search bar now occupying its own space on the title bar
- Toggle On / Off to disable the auto-correction
- 461 Japanese emoji icons
- Support for new languages.
- Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack
- Google Street View, Google Transit information - Routes public transport, Walking directions, Location sharing.
- App Store: 'Categories' now shows the icons of the applications instead of the list, In each page of the application has been added by a button 'Tell A Friend' & 'Report A Problem', Added the possibility of scoring the application when the user chooses to delete from the device.
- Added the possibility for direct downloading of podcasts from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.

Will we possibly see a cut and paste feature in this version? One can only hope. Such a large addition is very unlikely in only 10 days. We are going to be spending a lot of time testing out the new iPhone firmware 2.2 , with all the new additions, this release will keep us busy for a while.

From Slashgear and macrumors.

iPhone backup extractor(Mac Only)

Developer Pádraig released a new application called iPhone/ iPod Touch backup extractor. So what does this application do? Well it gives you the option to extract or unzip in another word the iPhone backup files that iTunes creates during the backup process. There’s only 1 problem, the application is only compatible with Mac OS. Hit The break to get the developers information.

What does it do?

This application converts the iPhone / iPod Touch backups that are created by iTunes into readily usable Mac OS X files. It is designed to run on Mac OS X Leopard only.
What’s it used for?

- Extracting application resources for developers to help them investigate bugs.
- Exploring files that are created by third party applications using Finder.
- Decoding the SQLite database files that are stored on the iPhone / iPod Touch, such as Call History, SMS messages, and Notes.
