hey guys...
i dont really know deeper regarding this iphone, just normal usage like normal phone atm. nvr sync to my pc more than 3 times.
been sync to my pc once or twice when 1.1.4 FW. and sync to my pc 2 days ago when 2.1 FW.

so couple weeks ago my friend help me to upgrade into FW 2.1 as some of u ady know.
then 2 days ago i just thought of sync to my pc thinking to put some video clip inside. so then i sync it to my pc.
they ask me 2 option... about my iphone. "1, sync as new iphone" "2, sync as old iphone". or something like this.
initially im not really sure what are all those. so i just click sync as old iphone. or what exact sentence i couldnt really remember.
then the next thing i notice is all my stuff inside are back to the moment when im on 1.1.4 FW.

when my friend help me to upgrade to 2.1FW, he use iphone browser... back up my contacts, sms, photo. restore and JB. upon upgrade he put back those my contact sms and photo thingy.
so then this time after i click sync as old iphone, all my stuff back to the moment when i sync in 1.1.4 FW. i lost my most recent sms. i lost some of my contact which i add in later. lost my notes too. back to old notes. back to those song that i sync on 1.1.4 FW... etc...

im not here to ask how can i get back my stuff which i add it later on. guess i cant anyway.

but just for my knowleadge. i hope to know how do we back up our iphone data into pc through itune? i know i sync into my pc when im on 1.1.4 FW. but i dont know what exactly i click which makes my pc back up those stuff. i right click on the eject icon beside my iphone there. i saw there is 1 button back up or something. i click that and i saw it write back up. but does it means it back up everythings??? contacts, sms, notes, photo, song, movie, etc etc??? or they just back up certain thing???

if we can back up in this way, so means we can just restore on our pc? restore then unlock jailbreak then after settle everything we can simply click sync as old phone to get back our old data??? or? should we save another back up files out through ssh before we restore??

also may i know where are those back up files from itune goes?? coz if we format pc? we got to keep those sync data right??? where can i make copy of it?

then is there any way for us to view our contacts number on itune without sync?? i mean... now u plug in sync into the pc. after that u plug out. then can u see ur contacts and their number over the itune?? coz i remember there is once i saw my colleague contacts over the itune on his pc. @.@ ask him but he tells me he also unsure how he made it =.='''



for my case, after my friend help me restore, unlock, JB... once i sync by sync as old phone. it instantly overwrite my data, include message wo... seems different from u say a bit? i mean i know is good can get back the sms upon restore but anyone knows how? coz i dono what i did last time on 1.1.4FW. i nvr right click eject button and click back up.
even my song also auto sync back for me as i nvr change the file location on pc.

can anyone clear my doubts pls???

Added on November 4, 2008, 9:48 am a long question..
Sync will do backup, everytime itune backup is backup your setting.
U ask your friend to help u upgrade firmware, means everything is in ur friend laptop.
Meanwhile, your pc's itunes still with your old 1.1.4 backup. Of cos, when you plug in and choose backup in ur pc, it will restore ur 1.1.4 data.

I have a quick question regarding for 2g iphone about network provider problem.

iPhone Generation : 2G
Current Firmware : v2.1
iTunes Version : 8.0
Jailbreaking software : quickpwn
Problem Encountered : the iphone is running well under maxis and digi, but not compatible with celcom..
Steps Had Taken (list down) : had check with phone settings, the phone can detect the sim card and show the sim card phone number, caller id is turned on.. just cant receive any signal from service provider, cant even make call or sms.
Problem Screenshot (if any) : n/a now
Other Info / Remark : the celcom sim card chip is bigger one, do i need to replace a new sim card from service center?

What do u mean by the bolded sentence? If the sim is not the same like others, it might mean that its not in contact with the sim reader in the phone hence no signal. Changing the sim to the normal one would be one way to solve it.

I mean the size of the golden plated chip on the sim card

Just notice that, there is a option to click if the sms is too long. "Load Earlier Messages"

If its not the same size as the other sims then better go and change.

is there any apps for iPhone that we can sync to our outlook calender using bluetooth which samsung smartphone has on it. With this software we can sync our calander where the phone able to detect the laptop bluetooth +-10m meters away from our laptop and don't need to dock our phone and use iTunes to sync with it.

don't think there is any apps that work with Bluetooth...afaik the bluetooth on iPhone is purely for headset.
you can try Mobileme, it will push update ur calendar, mail, bookmarks and contact via wifi or cellular data network
