I wonder how many folks are waiting for this. The dangers of pioneering software unlocks versus the possibility of using your locked Aifontriji without blowing up, HyperSim style!
I'm not sure about others, but I'm super excited for Google StreetView. Hence my motivation to get 2.2. Holding out 2.2 because you want to try out version 1.0 of an Aifontriji software unlock sounds like a painful pill to swallow. Thank God for fully unlocked units. |

Okay did mine, and immediately tests the phone functionalities first. Everything works fine, and just needed to set the voice mail back using the *5005*86*xxx# trick.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then went into Google Maps, did a search on "Times Square", because I wanted so bad to go back there but no chance yet, and clicked on the "Times Square Alliance" drop pin. Make sure you click on the little guy icon on the left, not the arrow icon. The viewpoint drops immediately down to street level, rotates it to landscape, and you are free to do a 360 degree view around that drop pin! Bloody awesome and smooth too! I did this on Wifi at home, so on 3G, it may a while for the Street View Image to load as you pan around. When you tap the circular map icon on the bottom right, the camera pans down to your feet, and whisk you away up to the original map view, like being sucked into the heavens and viewing it from the sky. Awesome, and I was under that neon display a year ago, the exact same spot! As expected, there are no Google Street View around Malaysia, unless anyone sees the Google Street View car doing its rounds here. Other changes include the Safari address/Google search window shrinking and expanding to size when tapped for usage. Nothing much on other fronts. Holy shit, they have one on Newport Beach! Not close enough at the starting point, to go to my place there, but brings joy back to see it nonetheless.
Just the intersection between West Coast Highway and Newport Boulevard. Funny how it is on Newport Boulevard, to go into the county, you basically have to reverse-streetview, because the Newport Boulevard is a one way street! |

![]() ![]() My place is up that way, well...not err, that bike trail, but reverse the traffic flow you see there. ![]() Nope, no Street View for London. ![]() ....but there is one for Paris! ![]() Paris's Street View starts from here. You can explore by going up and down the available highlighted intersection/road by pressing the arrow buttons on screen. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Nov 21 2008, 03:57 PM |

I had not any SMS lag since 2.1, I believe the lag is attributed to the signal coverage/strength around here. I get massive lags also when the 3G signal drops, and had to turn off 3G to regain whatever semblance of normalcy I have before.
I'll test the Safari bounciness later when I go out. |

Patience Nokia, mine was like that too. As long as the activity/progress meter on the iTunes on your PC/Mac still shows activity, it is fine. Just wait a few more minutes.

Those New Yorkers are a lucky bunch eh. They even have departure times for public transport. I wonder if the information is updated real-time by the transport operators. Added on November 21, 2008, 5:44 pmBlackberry's new phone called Blackberry Storm is not an iPhone killer but it has an interesting feature that i wouldn't mind seeing in the next gen of iPhones: I'm guessing some sort of flex-display like what was mentioned in a recent Apple iPod Stick rumor. Wow upgraded to 2.2 wow! Excited too wow!
To each his own, the few of us who are excited about 2.2 more than Cydia, kept out opinions to ourselves, as our sign of respect and not to kill your joy, when you had your party on all things Cydia. At the very least, have the decency to return that favour. I certainly kept my opinions to myself to not stir the pot, but if someone else is stirring it, don't blame me if I stir back. Friendly advice before things gets any hairier. You know who you are. |

QUOTE(LEO1989 @ Nov 22 2008, 12:04 AM) What kind of help do you you need, boss? The steps are pretty clear to me. You just need to connect back to iTunes and activate it back again using your iTunes account. If you have not had one, create one. If this is a locked version, then you have just locked yourself out of your iPhone. |

Is'nt the picture self-explanatory? It is asking you to connect to iTunes to unlock it. Do as it says.

After putting it through its paces, at the moment, 2.2 feels much faster. I had none of those sloth-like lagginess when typing a response via Safari on the virtual keyboard. Perhaps this is because it is new, and things may change once I filled more of the browser cache/history going on, but for now, it is fast. No SMS lag whatsoever too, but that also could be attributed to my Celcom 3G behaving nicely without line dropping. My suspicion on the SMS lag is due to the line drops while in 3G network.
A nice addition is to having the ability to click the Home button and return the page to the first page, when you have swiped to other pages of apps. Handy, and avoided the need to have to swipe 6 or 7 pages to go to the first page, just simply press the Home button. Street View, as predicted, takes a little bit more time caching the 360 degrees view of the drop pins, while on 3G. Otherwise, works as how it was on Wifi. |
