Still a LONG WAY to go mate. It's only February. If it's April and 3 games left in the competition, I know I can say that. And that is the conditions remains the same, Liverpool 8 points below us and our GD is superior to theirs.

ferdinand is actually played good in the game.. but he need to cover rafael's asses all the time.. doing 2 jobs in the same time is harder rite?
*
Yupe. Was a tough task for Ferdinand yesterday. He covered Rafael's task so many times.

Rafael needs to learn about positioning. He suck at it. At least, learn something from Evra.

Good win for the team yesterday, but like what SAF said, we didn't win it by much. Every time before a UCL match, SAF seem like will play mind games with his formation, especially when we will face Maurinho's Inter. The defense is a concern, without Vidic we can't win any air ball, Rio was pawned in the air by Santa Cruz. Vidic came on and start winning header and get rid of the air threat. Right back is a concern too, Rafeal kena exploit kao kao yesterday.

With Zlatan and Cruz that strong in the air, the defense need to buckle up and to keep those striker at bay. Midfield is not a concern, Carrick and Scholes can't always have a perfect game, their class is permanent, form is temporary. I think we will have a lone striker in Milan, either Rooney or Berba.

If it's going to be a 4-5-1 formation. I reckon for something like this.

VDS
O'Shea - Rio - Evans - Evra
Ronaldo - Fletcher - Giggs - Carrick - Jason
Rooney

Subs :
1. Foster
2. Tevez/Berba
3.
4.
5.

I second that whoopa, Fletcher always perform at the big games, SAF always trust Fletcher when it comes to big games.

Its been awhile since we have a UCL match, kinda nervous for it laugh.gif

against inter we will have big problem..no vidic and with rafael still not so experience in champ league..inter have big striker in Ibrahmovic and big stiker in adriano.. not easy for man utd defence though...

just our defence can cope with it..

Jason Park laugh.gif I second the formation too. Park can give cover to the defense and he can cope with the Italian temperament and tough play.

Zlatan is on form now, Adriano is so so but he has his own class so better watch out for that. Mourinho wont put 2 strikers against us, he wanna win the midfield battle so to be expect that Cambiaso, Veira, Stankovic and Muntari will play, laugh.gif those are one of the best DM is the world right now..

Aren't there injury worries for both JOS and Evans? sweat.gif

Some major reshuffling needed should that be true...

I'd settle for a 433 (assuming the defence are all OK):

VDS
O'Shea - Rio - Evans - Evra
Fletcher - Carrick - Giggs
Ronaldo - Rooney - Berba

Could switch easily into a 442 with Rooney-Berba up front, though Giggs might struggle out wide. Should be quite solid along the flanks. But it's through the middle that I'm worried, esp with Vidic out.

With the shortage of fit players, we'd go 4-4-2. Just a question of which 4.

My opinion:

O Shea-Evans-Ferdinand-Evra

Park-Giggs-Carrick-Ronaldo

Tevez-Berbatov

SAF seldom played 433 in UCL match, he always take extra precaution in big games. 442 is ok but he can't fill Fletcher, Carrick and Scholes together if so unless Fletcher play on the right and Cr on the Left, Rooney and Berba on top. Giggs wont have chance playing if Scholes played.

I doubt kamikaze is the way to go... Inter have hardworking midfielders and a good striker pairing. Battle should focus in midfield... which is why I think Carrick/Scholes alone cannot cope.

Return of Giggs-Fletch anyone ? tongue.gif

Giggs and Park were rested and will be sure in the line up this mid week, as for Scholes, I think he will move to bench and let Fletcher or Carrick play.

Perhaps...but from what we saw last night, SAF has no real reason to unleash vidic unless Evans is really struggling. Genuine knock, but I do hope he can recover for the Inter match.

The contingency plan is to go all out attacking for the second leg at home, thus a cautious approach at the san siro would be crucial.

remember...we not only play against Inter Milan, we play against Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan. Although their result is typical Mourinho's style but do remember one thing. SAF's Man Utd only beat Jose Mourinho one time only with all the encounter..let it be Porto or Chelsea.
SAF knows that.
