I think I know which Gief you are talking about at Bugis Virtualand. He's the guy with sunglasses above his head with tattoos all over his body. He's the well-known resident Bugis Gief, Chun Li, Guile specialist. His Gief is a monster!



Back on track, eventhough I was not there for the event, I appreciate all the work done by the organisers to promote SF4 in Malaysia. It's not easy to organise stuff like this. Kudos to you guys! Appreciate all the work done!

On the day before the tourney Alan phoned me asking if I can provide sticks. I told him my gameshop friend (Freddy.. the 3rd place Blanka player in the Cineleisure tourney) will be having stock as more will come soon on that day itself and the price would be reasonable (definitely less than the going price of RM400+ now).

A lot of phone calls were exchanged and in the end Sony will not sponsor 2 HRAP3 sticks as it's not their product - logically. So after more calls, Alan convinced his partners and decided to get it for his Outpost Cafe for future use. Then, Freddy got back to me saying stock is delayed and really apologized. So I passed the message to Alan and told him not to worry as I'll be loaning mine for the tourney and am pretty sure others can spare theirs too. Thanks to TristanX, WhatWhat, Darkstalker and Wongbrothers for sharing their HRAP3 and VSHG sticks to the public.

P.S. Alan sorry if we missed the desserts when the event was over. Was it after prize-giving? We were not aware actually but thanks a lot for the effort. Also, I think I made you guys look bad by selling water to the participants (made RM4 profit - yay!)... but everyone should know by then to prepare for a marathon event right? Plus it's not like we're in the middle of the desert or something

And Alan's so right about Andrew. He was bugging the living hell of EVERYONE within 2 metres of him. He kept asking me about the things I was referring to OTHER people and just ask questions which has no answers to:

"How do you beat that Viper? Tell me.." (after I lost)
"Sagat also can lose???" (in your face after taking a good beating)
"Ryu can lose???"
"Your Rufus lost!"
"I really find problems doing Ultras with 3 buttons. I keep pressing 2 buttons max only".. or something like that
"That Cammy is copying me!!!!" (seeing a better Cammy in action)
"HEY! You can't be standing here!!" (to a stranger near our queue)
"Watch my place in the queue... I NEED to take picture with them!" (after the cosplayers come out)
"WHY must you perfect me???? I was just testing out Chun Li's moves. YOU KILLED MY CHUN LI!!!!!" (playing him for the score)
"HAHA! I got you now!" (I ate his random Ultra)

MAN.. this guy was so entertaining!!!!! But seriously he was very bothersome and no one told him off out of courtesy. Actually one of my friends did... but he came back and was his own self again.

P.S. I did not mean any offence to DS3 users in my previous posts. But people complaining about the tourney should understand the whole picture first before commenting, just like leongteng.

So, his name was ANDREW. I think he seriously got some issues. I think by describing him as entertaining, you meant irritating? LOL. I think if it was a marathon for thrash-talking and motor-mouthing instead of SFIV, he could have easily won and brought back the PS3, PSP and Mr Dhalsim, himself as well.


Another issue during the event would be the joysticks.

Firstly, Fighting games are meant to be played with JOYSTICKS. Period.

Secondly, the sticks provided there are not from the sponsors but from the GENEROSITY of our fellow gamers. And mind you, those are not your average or cap ayam sticks. There were HRAP3, Madcatz TE and Sega VSHG. All 4 sticks put together actually cost more than RM2000! Please, please, please learn to appreciate others' effort and also belongings. Don't go abuse the stick by constantly doing 360's even when you're playing KEN or CAMMY and you're being knocked down. Doing that doesn't result in anything but showing others what a noob/scrub you are. This is not an arcade where you put in RM0.50 and you can bang away at the machine. REMEMBER!


All and all, it was a good outing/event despite being a bit tiring (that's how a marathon's supposed to be anyway). Met some new friends, the SHADOLOO GANG and caught up with some old ones. I don't really see there's any major issues with the event. Went very well. The only missing element, A SMOKING ROOM! LOL!

I would say this format of tournament is very interesting and brought back a lot of memories for me. It reminds me a lot of the good old arcade days. The anticipation, the queue, the intense moments, the misses, the curses and most importantly, the THRASH-TALKING (courtesy of Mr ANDREW).

Two thumbs up for everything! And thanks for feeding me the fries when I was playing. Helped me beat *someone* LOL! POWER UP FRIES!!!!. But should have at least gave some small token or gifts to those came participated lah. The only thing most participants got as consolation was their parking receipts. Lucky I got my Loco Roco umbrella from the game named after Mr Andrew, THRASH!

THANK YOU to those who were GENEROUS enough to provide the sticks. ALL of them were FANTASTICLY FLAWLESS sticks despite complains from certain parties. You can't really get any sticks better than these at all. You want something better? Make it yourself!

THANK YOU to everyone who came and kicked my a$$. Gained lots of experience and tips. LOL! GGS!

THANK YOU to Mr Andrew being such a pain in the arse. You've definitely showed us ALL the DON'Ts in a tourney. You've successfully turned from PAIN IN THE ARSE to PRICK cum PAIN IN THE ARSE cum PATHETIC LOSER overnight, so famous! Now if there's anyone who's rajin enough to document down all the DON'T's Mr Andrew was kind enough to show us thru example. LOL

Don't neglect us, please.

The winner was WhatWhatInMyButt with about 85 wins.

In second place was Tristan with 57 or so wins.

Those two were the only ones announced.

Alan told me after the prize giving that apparently I was close to Tristan's score, hence why I was like NOOO TRISTAN in the previous page.

And Andrew was that kid with the glasses that talked waaaay more than he should with a loud voice and no sense of self restraint.

I was thinking of something like Kangaroo from Shadoloo. More environmental friendly. And it's cute. LOL! And Kangaroo can BOX also. Instead of RUSH PUNCH, HOP PUNCH!

So what happened to the Vega user? He won a lot of matches on the first day. I lost to him 4 times in a row and I couldn't even win 1 round T_T..

Name wasn't Roger though punches like Boxer;
Then there's Andrew who's a psycho yahoo,
Can't shut up and plays like a masher;
His Ken met his end, by an ageing Gen,
By a long string combo - ending with Super.

I dunno about the others, but I came on day 2 with specific anti-Vega strategies and beat him, and I think most others also fared better against him on day 2.

Technically speaking, I also came with anti-Ryu and anti-Viper strategies on day 2 but those proved to be nowhere near as effective as the anti-Vega one.
