Ah, there was another topic on the Consoles Couch forum, but this one seems more active.

Was playing earlier today at Cineleisure (Outpost). Played with a couple of LYN members (I forgot your names sorry).

ZANGIEF REPRESENT.

EDIT: Just in case it hasn't been highlighted, you can practise at Outpost for free. Just buy some food/drinks and they'll let you practise.

There were about 7 of us there playing a lot:
- Me
- My girlfriend (noob, but won one match smile.gif)
- Some guy named Allen I think?
- Allen's friend #1 (lost a few times to this guy, uses Akuma quite well)
- Allen's friend #2
- Some guy whose real name I remember but I forgot his online name
- ^ This guy's friend

And, once in a while, one of the guys in charge at Outpost would play too. He used Ryu.

So up to eight of us, playing winner stays on. Lots of fun.

Come over if you wanna practise but don't have the ability to play at home!

I'll probably be going back there only on Wednesday/Thursday until tournament time. Will be busy till then. sad.gif

Like I said, I should be around on Wednesday or Thursday onwards.

Probably during evening till night. Say 4-9?

I'll confirm when I figure out exactly when I'll be back. smile.gif

EDIT: Apparently at least 60 people have already joined up? I dunno, that's just what people were saying.

About the tournament matches, I remember you telling me they were based on best of five, correct?

And want to confirm: can we switch characters between matches or are we supposed to stick to one character the whole tournament?

Me and my girlfriend never played SF4 before that day either. But I've played the older games so not so bad for me. tongue.gif

I shall be going down to Outpost tomorrow (Tuesday, 24 Feb) to practise. Around 4 pm onwards. If any of you are free, why don't you drop on down? smile.gif

Alan, thanks for the info. I dunno if you remember, but me and my gf told you that we might be a bit late (cause she has work). Is it okay if we call or SMS you on the day itself to confirm that we're on our way there?

Since I was playing Zangief the other day on pad, here's how I do it. First, I'll explain the standing/walking 360, which isn't really a 360. I do it from right, half circle left, then press upback or up and punch.

To do the 720 version, I just do the same thing twice. So it's from right, half circle left, up, right, half circle left, up, punch. The command is lenient like that. Only the timing is tricky.

Remember, when doing 360 motions, it doesn't matter where your starting point or ending point is. Meaning if you'rem ore comfortable starting from right and going down, left, and up from there, then use that (it'll apply on both sides).

Also, just to let people know, you can do an instant-air teleport with Dhalsim. It's forward, down, down-forward, up-forward, all 3 punch/kick buttons. smile.gif

Go Malaysia! Sangat Bagus Opera!

Barring any problems, I should be at Outpost again to practise tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. Thursday should be 4+ again. Friday will probably be after Friday players.

To do a charge move, hold the first direction for about 2 in game seconds first.

So let's say you use Guile's Sonic Boom, which is back, forward, punch. You then hold back for about 2 seconds, then press forward + punch.

For charge moves that are super attacks, same thing applies. Balrog (the boxer) has a super that's back, forward, back, forward + punch. So what you do is hold back for two seconds, then press forward, back, forward + punch.

You can charge pretty much anytime. If you're knocked down, you can charge, you're hitting someone, you can charge, you're in the air, you can charge, the round is starting, you can charge. Make use of this.

You can also charge two directions at once. All charge attacks start with either back or down, so if you press downback, you're charging both at the same time.

Oh! I forgot one more.

Balrog (the boxer) has a charge attack where you hold all three punches or kicks to do his Turn Punch.

Same as before, hold either all punches or all kicks for at least 2 seconds, when you let go it'll come out. Just like before,y ou can charge anywhere, but you can only release this attack when you're on the ground.

EDIT: More importantly, you can charge this, and downback at the same time... smile.gif

Good games to Kodanshi (+ 2 friends), TristanX, some dude who heard about it from his friend, some other dude that came by and registered at night, and of course Alan, who chilled with us for a bit.

Good luck tomorrow everyone. biggrin.gif

Alan told me everyone meets up just inside the main entrance (near the computer shop/Tony Roma's there.

If no one is there, I guess just go to Outpost. tongue.gif (if you don't know where that is, it's about 2 floors up, to the left of the escalator on the cinema floor level)

Tomorrow (Sunday) the tourney starts at one.

Just letting you know Alan, you got group B slightly off. I (B1) got 8 wins, not 7 (I think one of you recorded my first fight wrong).

Not that it matters since I advance, but just letting you know. smile.gif

Were you in the tournament? smile.gif

I was Aiman (B1), the mostly Balrog player (who uses Blanka against Giefs and Gief against Dhalsim).

Haha.

I met this dude who said he was studying in Japan. Is that your brother?

(Probably not, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask)

There was a separate machine for anyone who's not part of the tournament, so if you drop by, you can actually just play there instead.

...technically, there were two extra machines, but the second one was based on Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.
