Arcades only have 6 buttons all the while. Console arcade stick has 8 buttons because: -
1. since long time ago, playstation has 8 buttons. It's to cater to people who plays other games with the arcade stick as well. I recommend not putting shortcut buttons when you play SF4. It's a very bad habit cause tourneys always disallow shortcut buttons as well as turbo.
2. look at the tournament edition button placement. The six buttons on the left is the layout for Japan arcade machine button placement. The six buttons on the right is the layout for US arcade machine button placement.

QUOTE(pmg @ Jun 14 2009, 08:05 PM) Yes I was there on Saturday but didn't join as I would not like to get raped in public Didn't stayed long as had to be elsewhere at 2 PM which means I missed those matches with 3 rounds. Yup, those buttons looked like the ones I saw at Virtualand outlets in Singapore last week i.e. 6 instead of 8. Playing on 6 buttons made my scrubby gameplay even worse than usual, not to mentioned the fact that there was a Zangief player there who thrashed everyone. You see, once you insert a token, the connected arcade machines will automatically duel you - you can't choose whether to play against the AI or a human. Unfortunately I got to play that Zangief dude EVERY TIME I slot a token in. I was hoping to fight the other casts in SF4 there but in the end, 10 SGD was wasted on fighting Zangief alone ( that's 20 plays in Virtualand arcades). The funny bit is the reaction on other players when they too were automatically matched - then subsequently raped - by that Zangief. I think I know which Gief you are talking about at Bugis Virtualand. He's the guy with sunglasses above his head with tattoos all over his body. He's the well-known resident Bugis Gief, Chun Li, Guile specialist. His Gief is a monster! Back on track, eventhough I was not there for the event, I appreciate all the work done by the organisers to promote SF4 in Malaysia. It's not easy to organise stuff like this. Kudos to you guys! Appreciate all the work done!

QUOTE(fevercrash @ Jun 30 2009, 10:05 PM) juz bought the game..tried online but quite laggy and has minor delay, is there a choice to choose which server to play? like can we choose to play in a malaysian server? Look for games 3 bars and above. Best is look for locals or people in neighbouring country. Check the PSN list. But most of it is due to the crappy local ISP connection. Can't really help you there unless you move out of the country....

QUOTE(Darkstalker @ Jul 27 2009, 11:31 PM) I actually have a PSP too. I just normally don't bring it. /thread derail post The PSP is great if you love arcade games. Shadow over Mystara and other side scrollers, the KOF series, SvC chaos, etc...all can be emulated on the PSP using CSP1PSP, CSP2PSP, MVSPSP, NCDZPSP. /back on topic Damn...another gathering I'll miss!

Kudos to the organizers for bringing the tourney to the people!
It's pretty tough to get good competition with the lack of SF4 machines in the arcades. Hopefully these events will bring more people to the game and increase the level of SF4 competition in Malaysia!
Great pics! Hopefully videos will be a norm in the future events!

I happen to think that SF4 has more mass appeal than T6 though. It's exactly due to this mass appeal that SF4 has been so popular recently at international events.
hatred's suggestion on volunteer helping is a great idea. If I were back there attending these sessions, I'll gladly help out as well. Even the tourneys here, there are a lot of volunteers helping out the organizers. It's become a community that helps out the organizers in the event as well.
As for Sony's support, I just want to say that their marketing department sucks. No point expecting any form of support from them. If you make the event big or someone from the event participate in international event, they will automatically come to you to support.
