i like fighting your guile , makes me thinks of ways to move in and how to make u come out from your defense. Hope to play more with u soon smile.gif

Hi everybody, I'm Peter the one who using guile yesterday. Instead of crouching heavy punch  i use flash kick due to more damage so most of the time i was crouching. Sorry, I don't know if you guys was feel irritating. I'll put more effort on using guile to play more offensive and not to disappointed you all anymore. btw, I enjoy playing with you guys and i did learn something from all of you. I should hang out with you guys more frequently rather than playing online (tmnet su*ks) and robot. Hope to cya guys soon. ggs.

Wished you were there Mike. Never really played with you offline before. Only thru laggy PSN games.

Turtling is nothing new in the fighting game scenes. I don't really find turtling players irritating. As a matter of fact, I find it that they make the game more interesting, at least for me. I will find a million and one way to get them out of the corner and start doing something not-so-wise and punish them. I find that a challenge, a fun one.

And as for twwong, if you notice, other than Guile, the rest of the Charge-Based characters don't really have projectiles to throw. In other words, they are not defensive characters in nature. And of course, I believe I didn't play very defensively (aka turtling) during the casuals or the matches. I'm a rush down kinda player as I am very very used to playing Urien in 3rd Strike.

Aiman, there are A LOT OF 3rd Strike players in the scene and there are A LOT OF Yuns as well. Micheal is one of the better ones. Try rawfish's Yun, or any Old Klang Road's PACMAN Yangs as well. If you think Yun's is scary, try playing a good Makoto. NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

P/S: Alan, I have yet to play you in 3rd Strike yet. Hmmmm...... When ar?

Dude, I AM MAKOTO

A pretty bad one, but a Makoto still.

Makoto/Dudley/Urien/Akuma/Chun

Probably because I never met much competition, so I never bothered to get good.

Just to clarify;

Balrog is NOT a defensive character.  He's strongest on offence.  I just haven't practised with the game enough to get the most out of it.

Practising safe ways to attack is important though.  And when something doesn't work anymore, don't keep using it.  Remember when I mirror matched Balrog yesterday and he kept catching me with the Turn Around Punch (TAP)?  Had to stop doing attacks as he got up. tongue.gif

Btw, you should look into usin the Raging Demon as an anti cross up attack.  Not sure if it would work (if Akuma turns around or not) but seems like a good idea.

nope we didnt find your Guile irritating.
to be honest with you, we always liked Guile, he's a great character with great defensive tactics WITH great offensive damage if given the chance. We have seen great Guile around.

me and my brother are new and our bag of tricks are still quite lacking.
that's why we find hardcore turtles a bit harder to handle.

we just dun like turtles that even if you are stunned, or you have like 1 HP left and he still choose to camp at the other side of the screen and wait for you.
usually we go :"COME ON AND FINISH ME ALREADY WILL YA!"
hahaha

but then, game is like real life, it reflects how everyone take challenges. some take chances, some dun.
we dun have a problem in losing a fight to a better player, that's the bottom line wink.gif

Let me know if you want some matches. Can be easily arranged with some USB joysticks and my old trusty laptop. Been playing the games for close to 10 years and beginning the games is slowly dying off. Another 3rd Strike session in Outpost sounds nice. My Urien's charge partition buffer and partition's beginning to get rusty. Need some matches to train up again. brows.gif

You can be sorry if you're going against the fast-paced flow of casual matches where win/lose doesn't really matter, moreover among friends, but never ever, never ever - be sorry for having your own style of play. Don't let anyone tell you different. The only reason people get mad COULD be:

1) perhaps they don't feel the need to invest more effort or patience than you, to go for the WIN

2) perhaps they feel threatened that by blocking some/all/most of their block strings, it becomes ineffective hence reflect on their own character inadequacies. That way, you've already won the match psychologically

3) perhaps they have the perception that turtlers are boring to play against, which INFHO is indeed not interesting but also offers a unique challenge, as I am presented with more attacking options this way while the opponent figures out how to punish any of my mistakes. More importantly, it provides good training experience against similar turtlers. Face it, defensive players are around and here to stay so what can we do about it?

People who don't adopt and evolve will always be at the losing end - regardless if they play rush or turtle.

hatred, you got GGPO or 2DF? I might get on those if you want.

Actually, I haven't gotten GGPO to work on my new OS yet (Vista Ultimate 64) but 2DF should be fine. I'll check it soon and get back to you.

you defend nicely and when an opportunity comes you will go for it.
so it's not exactly turtle-ing.

Sifu Alvin hah hah, yeah I like the way you put it. My point on posting here is not to advocate or defend turtling, but sharing a bit my opinion that it's a way of life in the SF world. Even careless offensive play will cause lifebar-depletion symptoms hehe smile.gif

Just like a broken record... i repeat... damn it felt GOOD getting my A$$ kicked by that Jap Vega. Turtle turtle... poke... bait.. turtle... go for KILL... "YOU LOSE"!!

What game? And what's your name there?

I'll get onto 2DF after I remember what in the world is my login and password (didn't find many Malaysians to play with, so connection was bad).

Wahaha - true or not. That's why Japs are good. Many arcades = better competition. Evolved gameplay + innovation = pwnzage skillzzz!!111 We're not only far behind, looks like we don't have a good chance to catch up. Glad people like Alan and you guys are organizing/participating in get-togethers smile.gif

Hey Mike, Abel's your friend ok. Not the forgetful Frenchie... the REAL Abel haha smile.gif

Okay, I managed to log onto GGPO as "Darkstalker" and I'm currently redownloading 2DF on new OS as "Artelier."

I'll post again when the download's done.
