Hai, I'm new here and just finish my Diploma in Aeroplane Maintenance in MIAT. Done my OJT at SAE ''Sepang Aircraft Engineering'' for period of 6 month. Now, I've got a few option to take regarding my pursue to become a License Aircraft Engineer .

1. University of South Wales - BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and a basic license either B1.1 or B2 (Duration 3 Years) (September 2013).

2. MIAT - EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License Aeroplanes B1.1 (Duration 2 Years) (September 2013).

3. APR - TRAINEE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERS' (TAME) PROGRAM DCAM Part 66 Category B1.1 (Duration 3 Years) (October 2013).

I'm currently 22 years old, all option is going to the right path but which one is the best for me. When i ask my lecturer for guidance, some say to take option 2 or 3 and never go near option 1 and some say to take option 1. This really give me a huge headache . I really need some assistance on this.

I have no idea about Option 1.

But I do know one thing is to avoid Option 2. Even though Option 2 gets more vote from our lecturers like Mr. Ghaffar of OJT, but avoid Option 2.

I know but no where in EASA-66 mentioned it for recording your so called work schedule.
Even under CAA they did not encourage that document to be purchased. Of course if you want you can order it through their publication section. However that is not the issue.
Understand the syllabus and the requirements.

Actually, no one is doing a proper guiding to the students in MIAT. Most students there are still blur about the course and their future and what to do during and after the course ended.. Their best bet is a junior tech job in the industry... as a first step of a long journey if they are not careful to be a licensed engineer..

JohnMax may be he has the money but I see he don't have any other options... I'd say most of MIAT's lecturers and instructors there (the so called Aviation Specialist) do not know the subject matter well and have lost touch with the industry. I said that because I know them all.

xnoob13, you do not require to beg/buy/borrow/ or steal the CAP 741. Ask your instructors/lecturers or your QAM. Come back here with their answers.

Hello and Assalamualaikum wbt,

I'm a MIAT student, and already in fourth semester of the bachelor programme. You know what, after all the four semesters, the things getting more confusing. Some lecturers told that we are an approved bla bla.. some said that you can personally take the DCAM, and some said that the EASA of the Aero Building is an approved one and some don't.


What do I planned before entering MIAT ? I was like " I WILL BE AN LAE ONE DAY "

I did a plan of how many years and what should I finish before I graduate. Normally, people will say that I will take any DCAM exam of the module after finishing the class of it on each semester. So do i. ( example : sem 1, I completed the Material Hardware class and should go for the module exam but I don't ? because there is no DCAM exam conducted or guided to do so. )

Last semester, I did read a notice ( from the management of MIAT or something ) that whoever wish to seat for DCAM exam need to go for some kind of tracing exam. By now, I also did heard of it conducted once last semester and no news about that anymore.

I've heard that much of the students that graduated from MIAT went for oil & gas. Its true that there will be a money making job but why bother to study as maintenance a/c engineer. Anyhow, this is one of my plan too if what I'm trying to seek is a failure.

So, is there any opinion for me to get my plans going ? ( the truth is my ambition ) Thanks in advance and sorry for any grammatically errors.

dont think there are vacancies.. no news from media... OJT, i suppose u have to get in touch with training school. my frend submitted directly to a company (without the lecturers help) and she got it with a small allowance even.

Just to give some information, International college of Yayasan Melaka already an Approved Training Organization - ATO since 2011. This is the 1st ATO within south region of Malaysia and 1 of 7 ATO in Malaysia.

You guys can refer to DCA E-Exam portal for list of ATO.
