Just to share. So far my 2 500GB flashed to SD1A working fine (one is mine, the other my relative's). It almost 3 to 4 weeks now. But i did heard some sound one day from my PC...i'm not sure if it's coming from the HDD or something else, it was just once, but the PC runs fine.

But the funny thing is the sypmtons mentioned by some of the affected user...slow down, then BIOS not detected etc happened to one of my 250GB Seagate HDD which is not in the list. That was sometime last year and i've tried changing SATA ports etc, no avail...sometimes ok, sometimes cannot. In the end, i've changed the SATA cable and the problem hasn't repeat itself eversince.

So if you do have such symptons, try changing the SATA cable as well. It just might work.

i also have the 7200.11 series. 500gb and 750gb.
first i had a 500gb 7200.11 which failed which I then RMAed and they gave me a new 500GB 7200.11 which began to show failure 1-2 months ago. then i bought a new 500gb 7200.12 thinking problems are fixed.

unfortunately, im stuck. sigh. just within a week, im having problems with it. I try to copy paste between different hard disks, after a while it started to give like a beep sound. not a click sound though..

the 750gb 7200.11 harddisks are still working at the moment but not sure when those are gonna fail. Sigh.

i have a 160gb seagate hdd but that's been much more reliable than all the other hard disks.

western digital from now on.

OK guys...
It's already a month since Seagate release the SD1A to replace the SD15 firmware..
Anyone facing problem after update to SD1A?
Or,anyone here still using SD15 and feel their drive still strong even not update to SD1A??

*I'm on of the user still using SD15... No problem so far...

-My ST31000340AS which I bought from AllnGap (and exchanged once before because of problems) had been returned to him, and he refunded me back.
Thanks, bro. smile.gif

-Even though it had been upgraded to SD1A firmware, it still have some problems: freezing/slowing down once in a while, clicking noise (sometimes, randomly), and the latest, bad sectors!

-So, I thought that it (my problem) have nothing to do with SD1A firmware, but just bad luck (e.g. got bad batch units).

-Anyway, just bought another ST31000340AS from emailfhm and found that it's OEM also, but Seagate Warranty Validation page says it have warranty until 2013. thumbup.gif

Flashed my 2 500GB ST3500320AS to SD1A and still no problems after 1 month. It's noisier than SD15 but not loud enough to be annoying though.
