Something happening on my HDD today, BIOS warned me for some bad sector, luckily it just my storage and backup HDD, going to Update firmware later

Got weird noises coming out? SeaTools for Dos will corrected the wrong sectors successfully

Not detect never mind. Burn the SeaTool to a CD and then boot up your pc using that CD.

Then u can go for Long DST check and will be prompted for repairing after some time.

Yes, it will really take some times!!!

hi guys, i have this Seagate hard disk 500gb 7200.11, previously bricked once and sent in to update firmware and working fine again
but recently, the same harddisk seems to malfunction again. sometimes the bios able to detect it but sometimes unable to, i tried to use it on enclosure, in windows xp it can't be detected, in windows 7 it shows in disk management, but when i click initialize disk, it will say "the device is not ready", downloaded seatools also unable to detect it, is it dead? sad.gif

Agree with you, should have checked this forum before sending my HDD to RMA...damn, all data gone. I should have flashed my HDD fw.
Why can't they build HDD like those day...np at all. My Maxtor 20GB still working since 2003.

1 word, HDD now is cheaper than those old days...tongue.gif
I have a Seagate 500GB 32MB SD15, bought because of its large cache size, din do any homework, greedy me, a few month later onli known it have firmware issue, read-surf-learn-download-flash, after a year d HDD with SD1A loaded give up, but data i still able to transfer d data out...claimed warranty, send me back with a new 7200.11 SD15, but firmware already loaded with SD1A, been using it almost 9month

My cousin still own and using his old Quantum Fireball 10GB 7200rpm series...its still alive...XD
d time he bought his 1st PC, AMD Duron 800, at tat time d HDD cost him around RM400-500...

i will have hiccups if d HDD price now is still at tat range...tongue.gif

this time is the 2nd time i've sent my sickgate expansion ext hdd to rma due to 'clicking' rubbish hdd head... frustrated! mad.gif
3 yrs ago bought a 500GB barracuda, also went to RMA twice in a short period..
bought 2 hdd frm sickgate, RMA 4 times.. wtf is that.. quality gone to hell..
If the xpansion failed on me again, i might just consider it a write-off and no more sickgate frm me
