Successfully updated 4 units of ST31000340AS and 2 units of ST3500320AS. Although, 1 month back I had 1 unit of ST31000340AS dead (under RMA at the moment).

*Thanks for the guides here. We shall see if this really fix the problem in near future.

I burn twice the image file to a CD...

After boot up from it, i get this error

Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or insert boot media and press a key

How to burn it to the disc r ?

its so easy...just select burn image..but actually u may use alcohol to open the iso file & then burn into black cd aswell

Successful Update my ST31000340AS OEM drive with P/N ending with -303 Made in Thailand from SD15 to SD1A frimware.

Update took less than 1 minute.

Download the appropriate ISO file for your drive model, burn it onto a CD (or a USB key if you know how), reboot and if your drive is still detectable, flash it accordingly.

It is not known if the firmware will stop the bricking issue (BSY/LBA0) or cause other issues, but I have successfully flashed the firmware to SD1A on my remaining ST3500320AS, and it has been running for 10 minutes now.

firmware functioning.. but dunno if there is still a timebomb embedded in it's microcode....

owned 2x seagate 500gb bought in last year, still working.
now i buy a WD green 1TB for backup, wait 1 more week, no negative feedback then flash my seagate, then after that i got 1TB extra doing nothing....
bye bye seagate, for good
