I got 500Gb SD15 firmware .. damn, I need to buy another drive to do a backup .. when will they upload the firmware?

Which one is better, send for RMA and let them swap it with a second hand certified repaired HDD with the new sticker SD1A, and then sell it or reflash the old thing SD15 to SD1A and keep it myself .. confuse confuse ..

If those newest SD1A (January 09) firmware for SD15 user to upgrade still got a problem, what happen to the HDD that origininally came out from factory with the SD1A firmware (as early by December 08)?
