Whether it's literary fiction, fantasy, crime fiction, history, chick lit, a current bestseller or whatever, please dish about what you're reading right now and tell us how you like it nod.gif

I'm currently enjoying the 'The Man Who Walked Around The World' written by Dave Kunst right now as we speak, as he was the first man to travel the world, along with his brothers. At first, he just went off with John, but then John got killed in Afghanistan when they were attacked by bandits. So I'm now reading at the part of Peter taking over John's place to walk with Dave rclxms.gif

i think every book lover should have a collection of Sherlock Holmes. I (used to) have this thick kamus-like book of sherlock holmes stories that is really old - it uses those hardcover cardboard+ cloth kind of binding. and the pages are all super thin it was falling apart. I think my mom threw it away tho sad.gif

I love this book! It was so blardy grim, but I love it anyways. If you like this book, then maybe you can look for The Kid by Kevin Lewis. It's sorta like Angela's Ashes, but The Kid was set in the 1970s or something.

The book I am currently reading (or, rather, re-reading) is Cecelia Ahern's If You Could See Me Now.

I am reading "For One More Day" by Mitch Albom. It is about a man named Chick Benetto, that get a chance to spend one more day with his mother, who has died many years ago. Sad story, but in my opinion the book "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" is better.

Yeah I agree. The Five People You Meet In Heaven is one good read. Now I'm on Stephen King's Carrie. Nearly to the end. One good book I would say. Next shall be Blackberry Wine by Joanne Harris or Cell by Stephen King. =)

As expected, I found another chic-lit in my book shelf - Kinsella's Do You Remember Me? It has the usual pretty but awkward protagonist, the hot stud of a boyfriend, the dream clothing and accessories etc.

Pretty good read so far. Kinsella doesn't really ever stray from her formula's but this book may see our heroine actually ditching the 'hot guy' for the 'dark mystery man', which in Kinsellaverse is definitely going to be a first.

well, im sure this is a repost as there are a lot of people must have had read this book since ages..anyway, i had managed to finished a couple of books (thanks to my 1 week holiday of course)..
here are the list that i would recommend u all to read (if you got time and compassionate about it that is):

a) where rainbows end (AKA Rossie dunne):
this is a very "different" book where the whole texts are encrypted (or should i say based) on a text messaging, email, letters (majority of them) or even an instant messenger chat. it is interesting when u try to read the first few pages and it will get you going.a very page turner and hard to put it down.however, depends on your preference, you might thing it has a slow mid.but nevertheless, its a fun read.trust me on that.i wont be spoiling the ending however for those cecelia ahern fans out there, you might know the typical ending.

b) Tuesday with morrie:
alrite, this is really an old book been published for over a couple of years.i didnt really read it from one chapter up till the other so to speak, i got an audiobook from itunes-thanks for that. really inspiring kinda story, so give it a shot.Really give it a shot

c) 5 people you met in heaven:
again from the same author as (b), really inspiring.if you're looking for books that can make you feel touchy and sober for a couple of minutes (or days for that matter-not everyone has an egoistic heart), you might wanna grab this out

d) the alchemist:
this is again another audiobook that i managed to grab and listen to, though i doubt my ears for listening it over a couples of hour straight.ill re-listen to it nevertheless, no doubt about it.another inspiring story that might teach you about how valuable your life really is..it kinda fairytail though the journey of a young chap...

e) black (by ted dekker): i dun know wther this book is a mystery genre or a spiritual christian-based genre (caused thats wat the amazon and itunes shop classify them, accordingly).anyway, imagine your self being able to be in two different world at a time, and you cant really tell which one is real. it may sound cliche', but try this one, thats all i have to say.

f)the pillar of the earth:
o God.this book is a pain in the ass.the only reason as to why i bought this book in the first place was the thickness of it really matches the lord of the ring books i bought way back when i was 14 years of age.you really need a motivational (or an external push-up factors-or a bookworm DEVIL for that matter) because the book revolve around building a church.it may sounds religious, but it is not so.now i see why even oprah like this book so much...
it dwells with a conflict within a person and a responsible one could encounter especially when it comes to living in a renaissance era.
~fuhhhh, that really drains my tendon away of my fingers.

g)the curious incindence of the dog in the night time
funny how does it sounds-the title.....
and trust me on this, you dont want to miss this book.its about a kid who has a syndrome and it is wittyful. it can make you cry, laugh your throat out or even makes you stumble on yourself for a moment (well for me atleast). it is by far the fastest book that i managed to finished reading at one go.so try to imagine how A-page-turner this book really is...

i guess thats all that i can share for now..i now its a shopping list of books with crappy descriptions that i had put up up there.
anyhow, im off to read some good book from cecelia ahern...im halfway through her "if you could see me now"...so far so good i would say...

later.

Currently reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It's sci-fi/historical fiction. So far quite interesting, 3 separate storylines which I suspect will converge later on. But the language he uses sometimes feels like, he's trying to fill up space.

I recently have become a Jodi Picoult fan after reading her Keeping Faith.

QUOTE
You don't believe in God, but your daughter is seeing angels.

Currently reading another of her book, Mercy.

QUOTE
The one you love is asking for your help to kill them, what would you do?

As seen, her plots are interesting and her ways of writing are clean, fluent and evry bit of a page turner. XD For those who enjoy little side details such as the meaning of flowers etc will definitely encore her for the lengthy research she must have done.

A worthy book. biggrin.gif

One of my favourite. However, my preferred ending would be Santiago not finding the treasure at the end, but still he'd be happy for all the experiences he had from the journey itself...

Current Read : I am sad to say that I have jumped on the Twilight bandwagon. Just couldn't resist. Too early to tell if I'll be hooked on the series as I'm only about 1/3 through with Twilight. Mind you, I haven't watched the movie, so I'm savouring the book...

Anathema by Neal Stephenson - Sci-Fi, excellent book, but you must be prepared to pay attention and think especially given the language & maths theories he includes in the plot.

Farthing and Ha'Penny by Jo Walton - Alternate history novel, where Britain strikes a peace with Nazi Germany instead of going to war with them. Depressing, but well written series. Waiting for the 3rd book, Half A Crown, to come out in paperback.

Reading Guin Saga Vol 2 by Kaoru Kurimoto translated by Alexander O. Smith (also translated Twelve Kingdom & Brave Story)

The story revolved around a warrior with a magically affixed leopard head upon his own, his memories and identity lost. The only thing he remembered was his name Guin and the word 'Aurra'. Upon fate he meet up with the Pearls of Parros, the twins prince (Remus) & princess (Rinda) of the now fallen Parros Empire. Together they travel for the chance to rebuild Parros and to regain Guin's memories. But not before they fend off fiends of Roadwood and the pursuing Gohran knights!

Mostly based on the news covered in the UK but the intention of the book is to explain news coverage nowadays are with an agenda, whether it is to sell a product or to spread certain lies or control the masses.

Quite an interesting read.

I'm now finishing up on Generation Kill. This is such a great book because it's eye opening. Evan Wright, authored this book based on his experience while embedded with the US Marines 1st Recon unit, which spearheaded the initial invasion of Iraq known to us as Operation Iraqi Freedom. In this book, Wright talks about his journey to Baghdad with the unit, covering many aspects of the war itself, the suffering, bad decisions and the distrust of unit commanders, and the irony of surviving mission after mission due to sheer incompetence of their superiors.

HBO has made a 7 part tv series based on this book, which I bought too and I can't wait to check it out.

Breaking Dawn - Stephenie Meyers, the last installment of the Twilight saga. At times, Ms Meyers can be a tad bit long-winded but it's an okay read ('cos I've always got a thing for vamps... *sigh*)

Just finished Foul by Andrew Jennings about corruption in FIFA. Good read and just goes to show how many crooks there are out there.

Am attempting to finish Audition by Ryu Murakami... was too chicken to watch the movie which involves sado-torture so i thought i'd read this instead. The other book I read of his was 'in the miso soup' which reminded me of bret easton ellis's American Psycho.

I am reading Deception Point by Dan Brown

A very famous author, equally famous book tongue.gif so i'll just give a super short summary:

NASA has made an amazing discovery that has made history around the world. A young woman however uncovers the truth about the discovery and is trying to find out who is behind the deception..

My favourite Dan Brown book is still Angels and Demons though tongue.gif

Unputdownable Rating: 7.5/10

"Son of a Witch" & "Quite Ugly One Morning", but i can't remember the author's names.

the first one is a hilariously grim take on Oz, i recommend it to anyone who enjoys good satire. second one is just ridiculously funny. it has a few disgustingly visual scenes that made me a bit noxious, but apart from that it's a good book.

Reading Dreams from My Father by Obama and Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught.

Over the weekend I read why we buy by a french american author. Forgot the real title and author since it was my friend's book but really good read on discovering why we behave and associate things with certain ideas.

I guess nowadays I'm more into history, memoirs and less on fiction. the judith mcnaught was just a continuation of me collecting her books. It's funny though, I thought I never will progress on that kind of type but now I'm enjoying more and more getting those type of books and understand why people have these literary type of book on their shelves.

The Night Angel Trilogy - Brent Weeks

Finished Book One - The Way of Shadows.

Tomorrow going for Book Two.

Was curious as normally they dont release a unknown author first publication trilogy series in a span of a month or two.
so far pretty good writer. OCT 08-Nov 08

Also curious was the book seems very assassin creed like.

For those who are bored and want a fresh new author on fantasy totally recommended.

My fav writers are to see what my taste is like

Eddings, Goodkind, Gemmel, Tolkien, Pratchett,Feist,

and what i rate as bad writers is

J.K.Rowling, Stephen Meyer

cheers

LOL.

i think you're gonna offend many (not something unusual).

however J.K.Rowling is probably the richest among the names you listed by now. i never bothered to touch any book of Rowling or Meyer.

J K Rowling is ok la, not to say that she writes badly but just that imo her storyline isn't as deep as what you'd expected. But it was just one of the books that kept me flipping page after page to find out what happens next.

I just finished reading
What They Teach You at Harvard Business School - Philip Delves Broughton.
It's quite interesting in a sense that he left his successful career as the head of the european newspaper bureau, thinking to enter HBS to get a change of environment and possibly continuing one in the business/finance sector when he finished. It's quite a light and easy read, and it's sort of like his diary of what happened during his 1.5 year of his MBA life. The thing I liked about this book was that it was of an opinion of a non-finance guy of the financial world and its capitalistic ideals, being a business student myself, and how he eventually found himself unable to cope with the ideals and expectations of what HBS had initially promised to give him.

And just re-read Q&A by Vikas Swarup. Definately better than the movie Slumdog Millionaire.

hi there!

just found out LYN has this sub forum on books;)

anyways, here's my reading/recommendation thingy:

currently reading:

1. Outliers: The Story of Success -Malcolm Gladwell [read it when i'm in the mood for non-fiction;)]

2. The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture- John Battelle [same reason as no 1 tho i much prefer this than no 1 due to its 'IT' speak;)]

3. Mounting Fears- Stuart Woods

4. Rough Country-John Sandford [have yet to start this one since i still haven't finished no 3 d;)]

5. An illustrated biography of the World's most successful investor:warren buffet-translated from Ayano Morio's original Japanese edition

some recommendations [in no particular order]:

1. Ed McBain's books of the 87th precint.

if you like good police/investigative stories, you'd love this one. i've read most of his books and they are quite hard to find.
he's also writing under 'Evan Hunter' and some pseudonyms.

2. Stuart Woods- espionage/thriller

read his earlier books since they are much nicer and well written. the latter ones like the one that i'm reading is just so-so and hence the delay in completing it;)

3. Andy McNab-war/espionage/ thriller

if you like the army type stories, u'd love this.

4. Chris Ryan - same vein as no Andy Mc Nab

5. The Google Story -Inside the Hottest Business, Media and
Technology Success of Our Time - David A. Vise and Mark Malseed

6. Ridley Pearson-suspense thriller

7. John Nance-aviation suspense thriller

8. Vince Flynn-suspense espionage thriller

9. William Heffernan-suspense thriller

10. Evan Wright - Generation Kill [true story of a Rolling Stone reporter who tagged along with the US Marine Recon @ Iraq]. check out the 7-episode series as well.

Am looking out for:

1. Nathaniel Fick-One Bullet Away [the liutenant in Generation Kill]

2. Vince Flynn-pursuit of honour

cheers

5. Dead as a Doornail
6. Definitely Dead
7. All Together Dead -- Reading --
8. From Dead to Worse

I just finished The Book Thief today. I must say I was a little disappointed, maybe because of all the great reviews, I had higher expectations. Still a good book though. Recommended for everyone! Especially if you like Nazi-era stuff.

Open by Andre Agassi.

Its actually a biography of a famous tennis player, but it tells more than the conventional biographies we have in the market.. It reveals alot, maybe too much to the extent that it hurts his reputation.

Its really refreshing. Great read. =)

The Little Prince is indeed excellent. Never thought I'd like a kids book so much.

Currently reading A.C. Grayling's Ideas That Matter. Next up is The Time Traveller's Wife (finally).

why on earth does this thread looks dull?

well, just read the time traveler's wife. i really like the book as it is not an ordinary kind of love story. u actually can put yourself in his shoes. all people would have their fair share of problems in their love life smile.gif i give this book 4/5.

and now, currently reading the kite runner as 2 of my friends give two thumbs up for this book. we will see in the end whether it is good or not but for the first 4 chapter, this books look great smile.gif

Some of the REALLY notable ones are

The name of the wind - Epic stuff! Damn good read.

The way of kings - Very good stuff. 10 book series and now its only on number one!

The painted man book 1; The desert spear book 2; - very nice darkish magic and mayhem stuff.

Hi requiem73. never tried Wolfsangel (never heard of it) but finished Hundred Thousand Kingdoms earlier last year & just ordered the follow-up Broken Kingdoms. It's certainly verrry good non-traditional fantasy - no farm boys growing up to fulfil ancient prophesies of overthrowing a wicked overlord here....

How's the Blade itself? Is it a completed series? Heard some good feedback on it & don't mind giving it a shot if all the books have been written & are available.

Anything non-traditional is a plus for me, so will look forward to Kingdoms smile.gif

As for Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy, all 3 parts should be readily available [The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged, Last Argument Of Kings]. I haven't finished the 3rd book yet but I'd consider the trilogy as a whole (so far) to be well above average though not quite deserving of the accolades it has garnered. If you're feeling adventurous, just try out the first book and if you like the style, pick up the rest.

am now reading House of Night Book 2; but it seems like the story gets more complicated for the time being (and will get more and more complicated in further books!) i guess it's time for me to switch back to Sophie Kinsella books biggrin.gif might try Cecelia Ahern's books too! well at least the stories are lighter and less complicated

i gave up House of Night series...the story is more towards guys and "who should i pick" moments; and it seems to be moving away from the purpose of the story. i've just picked up Vampire Academy book 1. Hopefully it's a better story than the House of Night smile.gif

Currently reading A Long Walk by Stephen King. Picked it up due to the overwhelmingly good reviews. But it's such an odd book. Only Stephen King can write a book entirely about a marathon and make them interesting and weird at the same time.

Just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

I really enjoyed Oskar Schell's story and quest to find the box that is opened by his father's key but I must admit the grandparents' subplot bored the shit out of me. Thank goodness the film adaptation will most likely tear this out of the film but all in all, an interesting read. Kids with Aspergers' always make good compelling narrators in my view.

It's a tragic love story.....
high school guy (Landon) desperately asked the last girl he thought he would fall for (Jamie) to prom on their final year of school....
the only thing that jamie asked from landon is not to fall in love with her and landon agreed on that because he thought it was easy...
they're also in the same drama class for some sort of christmas show...
Jamie is like an angel to everyone because of her sweet n innocent personality...
different with Landon who is a bad guy (not really bad actually)....
day by day of their spending time together working on the drama, they get closer to each other...
his live changed a lot since he knew her....then landon felt in love with jamie.....
and after that he got to know that jamie had a leukemia....she only had a few months to live...
because landon so deeply in love with her and he knew that jamie's dream is to get married, he didn't care if she was sick....
finally he proposed her when she's very sick on her bed....they married by jamie's father (reverend sullivan) in church...
Jamie slowly made her way down to aisle with his father supported as she barely walked on herself and that was a walk to remember...
well....the ending is, jamie is dead of course n landon grew old with the memories and love that never vanished....

Hi Reveur, not yet a fan. I got a few Brandon Sanderson lined up but I need to slog through my Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy first. Am in the 3rd gargantuan book. So many stories, so little time!

But feel free to gush about it. Maybe I will bump him up my reading list. BTW, for fantasy fans, Brent Week's Night Angel Trilogy is released in omnibus form. Have not read it but heard good reviews. Available in good old Kino's.

Edit :
On scrolling through the previous pages, I noticed a lot of ppl trying out George R R Martin! Yea!!! What do you guys think about it? I am not opening a separate thread for it, I can't remember enough of it since I read his books ages ago, got no time to reread them. And reread them I should as there so many nuances and plotlines I have forgotten. I need must try and get hold of Dances of the Dragon *envy*

Spoiler Alert !! Don't read onwards until you have read Feast of Crows.

The story focuses on the life of a little girl, Scout Finch in Maycomb, Alabama. She lives with her brother (Jem), Father (Atticus).
Atticus is a lawyer and is appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man who has been accused of raping a young white women.
Although many of Maycomb's citizens disapprove, Atticus agrees to defend Tom to the best of his ability. Other children taunt Jem and Scout for Atticus' actions, calling him a "*-lover". Scout is tempted to stand up for her father's honor by fighting, even though he has told her not to. For his part, Atticus faces a group of men intent on lynching Tom. This danger is averted when Scout, Jem, and Dill shame the mob into dispersing by forcing them to view the situation from Atticus' and Tom's points of view.

Well, most part of the story is how Scout lives her life with Jem and Atticus.

just finished a gem of a book called "Atlas of Remote Islands" by Judith Schalansky. i found it in Borders quite by chance and to be honest had never even heard of it - since it it is a translation from German of a 2009 release. it is a beautifully bound book with the entire book designed by the author herself.
if you like Geography and History and love atlases - this will be right up your alley

The Catcher in the Rye. The writing style of this book was ......weird. Kinda like how I would express my thoughts lol.

Aside from that, I am looking forward getting John Green's books especially Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars and also Michael Grant's Gone series.
There are a lot of books that I freaking want to read but lets just save that after my big exam because I have a total of 2months++ of free time to be spent on reading amazing books.

You need to be a fan, he is epic, the thing i like in his storytelling is his foretelling of what will happen which you will only get at the ending. Its there but you just didnt see it till he reveal it. The endings of his book are always a huge twist and none of his book of different worldbuilding are of even the same style. Meaning, you can expect different thing from each of his series.

Brandon sanderson in my opinion is one of the best epic fantasy writer.

Brent weeks Night Angel triology are slightly weak compared to Brandon sanderson's book, i read brent week's book first and by the 3rd one its just a bit mushy and the ending is just, i mean, its too perfect. That said, i like the ninja sword wielding mage concept though.

One other writer that writes gritty and no holds bar fantasy is Peter V Brett, his daylight war series tells a good story of an evil sort of anti-heroes. I would rank it also higher than Brent Weeks.

As for George R.R Martin, I got to admit I have not stepped into that world yet and are therefore enjoying the tv shows instead. It is a place to start for new readers due to the movie and what not but I am not sure if this is a good thing or not.

That said, I am right now in Robert Jordan epic fantasy novel, Wheels of Times series, the first 4 books was good but by the 10th book the story is getting a bit stagnant and a lot of loose ends untied. He died before he finish the series and my favourite author Brandon Sanderson has taken over the job to finish up the series which is book 12, A memory of light (f i am not mistaken) out next year.

Lastly, if you want to try a fantasy novel of different sort. I would suggest Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the wind. That is Epic.

To end, here are in top to bottom order of books that i think are the best.

1. Patrick Rothfuss - The Name of the wind
2. Brandon Sanderson - Mistborn & The Way of kings.
3. Peter V Brett - Daylight War
4. Brent Weeks - Night Angel trilogy

Just finished:
1. Land of Laughs, Jonathan Carroll (not too bad)
2. Packing for Mars, Mary Roach (dull, surprisingly, until she got to the part about 'contributions' (aka human crap), which is towards the end of the book)
3. Among Others, Jo Walton (pleasant, and not what i expected)

Now polishing off Dance with Dragons and the incredibly dull/difficult (but can't leave it unfinished!) The Traitor by Michael Cisco.

After much delay, moving on to Memories of Ice now.

After reading GoTM and DHG, somehow I prefer GoTM more. Weird of me laugh.gif

The end of DHG feel kinda rush, but then its already 800+ pages and still got loads of question marks unanswered. Hope that there will be answers on the later chapters books. unsure.gif

This Book is Full of Spiders

About 60%+ in and it's a really nice read. Author David Wong is the senior editor of cracked.com

His first book John Dies at the End wasn't so good though. Thankfully the story in the second book is independent of the first book, so can skip it.

Honestly, I don't think it's worth buying >_< <-- my opinion.

If you don't like author killing off character after character, then this might not be for you.

The characters in the book are characters we can relate to people we know or maybe ourselves, if you don't mind J.K.Rowling shoving hard reality into your face, then you might like it =]

But I read this because it's written by Rowling and I didn't like it, not one bit. You can try reviews on Goodreads too, for more opinion of that book.

yeah, cause it's Rowling's book that's why I plan on giving it a chance, but if you're saying that, and I've read the reviews on Goodread too btw (thanks for that btw biggrin.gif ), I gotta say I agree with you, I don't think it is worth buying, for me anyway. This book is just too depressing for me, I'm depressed enough as it is.. *Sigh* I better off finding Ahern's books that I haven't read yet. Thanks though! rclxms.gif Appreciate it.

Just finished Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.
It was complicating for the first 100 pages or so and made me feel like giving up. Luckily I didn't though. biggrin.gif

Now with American Gods, The Book Thief, House of Leaves and A Song of Ice and Fire in the line, I'm going to start with American Gods. biggrin.gif

Just finished this science-fiction, Michael Chrichton's last novel before he passed away. In fact, he didn't get to finish this work and it was continued by another author. Just a brief review. This is my first novel by him (he's behind Jurassic Park), but I was blown away by how much effort he put in to make things so believable. Of course, some stuffs need extra imagination but when I threw myself into the world of the unforgiving Mother Nature, it was amazingly real. I'm in research myself so it feels kinda at home as I read this. I sure hope it gets a movie adaptation in the future. It can really make a good one.

NEXT book. I picked this up during my recent visit at Kinokuniya in Bangkok.

Since I'm playing the game for vita, I thought of reading this just to get a deeper understanding of the series.

I always thought this book would be a little heavy for my liking, I picked it up anyway... Since I finally got it in my hands, might as well read the whole thing. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

I just hope I don't get too depressed by it. Hell, even The Catcher in the Rye gave me that hint of sadness. ><

BF!!! blush.gif biggrin.gif

There isn't any substantial plot for it. The novel itself is just Holden's diary entry - how he viewed the world and people around him, things he went through and essentially, what one would experience if one were attempting to grow up too fast. 20++ pages through the book and I already adore the goddamn hypocrite. laugh.gif

Catcher in the Rye is definitely not for everyone (not to mention linguistic wise, stuff is infested with informals/ american lingo). Maybe you couldn't relate to him and/or his journey?

Perhaps I couldn't relate to him. Or maybe I just don't like books without a plot.
I forgot most of that book already. I read it quite some time ago.
Man, now I feel like reading it again. Maybe I'll enjoy it more now than I did last time. I have to admit that I wasn't really matured yet when I read it the first time.

Have you read The Perks Of Being A Wallflower?

I don't really see how one's level of maturity correlates to .. reading a classic. You don't need maturity to feel attached to a nonexistent fictional character whom you imagined to be oh-so good looking and cute.. *ahem* sleep.gif

Holden is definitely someone I can very much relate to at the current moment, which is why I enjoyed his story-telling so much. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to read it again.

No. Do you think it's worth buying? It's thin and expensive. user posted image

Hmm, perhaps maturity wasn't the right word... hmm.gif

What I meant is that I didn't relate to him or understand him at the first time I read that book. Perhaps I do now that my thinking is different.

To me, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is similar to Catcher In The Rye in the sense that it is also a... what do you call it?... coming-of-age book.
I enjoyed it because I felt like my thoughts were achingly similar to Charlie's.
Honestly though, I don't understand what's the hype about it. I liked it, but I didn't LOVE it.

I would say it is worth reading. I didn't buy it, I borrowed it from a friend. I borrowed Catcher In The Rye from a friend too.

Btw, I tried searching for TFIOS in a bookstore nearby and I couldn't find it. mad.gif

To be honest, I'm still baffled that these books are part of the American Literature - books that teenagers like us are encouraged to read and then reflect upon. They're like so deep imo. I mean if you were to compare The Great Gatsby with The Curse for example, you'd think the latter one is something that belongs on a 9 year-old bookshelf. The fact that these fictional works translate to the truths that are happening in the real world, hence making them feel far more relatable and close, is what the hype is about to most Americans. We're fairly sheltered as an individual growing up in Malaysia. Eh, enough baffling.

I found the book at MPH... Good God, it's about RM65 for a paperback I think. *faints*

Sure. Though that may take a while.

Now that you said it, it is indeed quite baffling. Not only is it deep, the language is very powderful too. I suppose only a handful of people will appreciate it. No wonder most Americans hate school lol.

I went to MPH, Harris and three Popular bookstores all over my city and none of them have it. mad.gif sad.gif
I think I'll just download it... It's very expensive anyway.
