SMS them save your cost. Don't call because your phone credit will finish very fast.

Do you bring over your handphone, I mean 3G phone. If yes, just go to any shop and buy sim card and insert inside you phone. It takes 1 to 2 hours to activate.

I brought my 3G phone along, and i just bought a line from optus, still having trouble activating it.. lol

try to find from your monash marketplace; there is heaps when i look through.
Just go to J2K; in clayton campus ..i`m sure they can find you a plan or suitable price to your budget.
to apply for a rent is just easy; saw the ads get the number of plc or room to rent & then go inspection. If agree; just take it.

Unless you want to get a rent from agent; that's another story.

You will need to look up your place from real estate agents; success of email & phone is low; the best is approach them in office.

then the agent; will need copy of passport; banking; enrolment letter etc to be submit.

hope this help.

this help me alot! thanks! so if i'm not taking a rent from an agent, so there is no paper works or anything that gottaa be done??

well there is always some paper work. a small contract. at least. if the owner doesnt sign anything. whats stopping him from cheating you. if you can. sign a contract at a police station and have the policeman sign it. it will be a valid contract in case anything happens.

i prefer renting from an agent. because its more efficient. such as if the toilet breaks you tell the agent and they have to fix it within 2 days i think. if not you call whoever you want to fix it and send them the bill. if you renting from just the owner you might have a bit of a slow reaction on their part unless you find a really good guy. otherwise they will usually stall.

yeah maybe next time. if you are like me. i move house every year. heheheh. just for fun. and also kept upgrading nicer place everytime hehehe.

make sure in your first week you keep a lookout for all defects, problems, marks and all that and write them down. then you mail it to him or see him and get him to sign that to acknowledge the condition of the place. you could also take photos.

my agent before mailed me photos of the stuff in the house and i had to sign a paper then mail it back if there was no issues.

You don't need a policeman to witness it for it to be valid. If there isn't a proper contract, then at least confirm what you agreed it via email - commencement date, rent payable, when payable, how are bills paid, expiry date, how and when can rent be increased, termination, bond (if any).

Yeah Agreed. And also you can go to your uni ( student body and ) ask for a number in regards to answering your queries of rental, bond, unlawful termination , etc etc etc. I forget what it is called already.

for my Uni, HD =7, D=6, C=5, P=4, etc.........

lets say normal subject is 2 credit hour, in 1 semester = 8 credit hour

If I got a D, 2 C, P it would be equal to (6x2 + 5x2 + 5x2 + 4x2)/2+2+2+2 = 5.0

Current gpa is 5.0

If your uni uses 4,3,2,1 its probably the same way of calculation
