if ur macbook battery is empty, then need to charge at least 8 hr long. If ur macbook battery is full, u can remove the battery out and plug into socket.

Someone suggested me to remove the battery first before letting it run on power as it will affect the battery life. Any idea?
I read somewhere that Apple advised NOT to do this!
This is a MYTH.

there is higher possibility of hardware failures such as motherboard fries if u dun plug in the battery while using AC. It's because sudden variation of electricity (from the electric socket) may produce voltage peak which will damage ur hardware.
Don't you notice sometimes at home, the fluorescent light seems like blinking in short interval? probably 100ms? which u'll hardly notice.
So best is plug in battery all the time no matter what. It won't overcharge since apple battery will only recharge when the battery level drop to below 95%.
To those who think that they have zero or low cycle count after a few years of usage will make ur battery life longer. NO, the chemical inside the battery will deteriorate after a couple years, perhaps after 5 years u'll change another laptop already. So don't be stingy on using battery smile.gif

@tanjq87 Thanks for the useful info.

@ghoul88 I think that is way too cool for 19 month old macbook battery. Just look at mine. 25 months and registering only 181 cycles but already left with only 53% battery life. But that's not too bad actually. I can still live with it ;-) In another 2 years, I could change to a new macbook.

Totally agree.. the battery will start to deteriorate right after it is being manufactured. This is no doubt the case in all battery lifespan. But with proper care of the battery, we will be able to prolong the lifetime.. smile.gif

Hehe. Even if you run the machine without plugin in the battery, you have that gut feeling that its wrong / something could go wrong. Previously I was under the assumption that Apple will cut the supply to the battery once its full and will run the macbook on direct power instead. That's how advance I believe Apple is and that's why I never took the battery out even sitting on the computer whole day while its plugged in. I could be wrong though. Haha.

my MBP's (bought June 2006) battery can go as low as 18% sometimes, then the notebook would have problems booting up a few times in succession (had to try like 10 times) but when it does boot up, the battery is at 38%.

after a few weeks, it'll slowly do gown to 18%, has the booting problem, then up to 38% again. any ideas? tongue.gif
