BeejiveIM - $15.99
Many say it's the best IM app out there. I went straight for it without trying other other IM apps. Works great

Air Sharing - $4.99
Makes your iPod touch a storing device through WiFi. You can only add/remove files via your computer. iPod touch can only store the files and also view selected file types.

WifiTrak - $0.99
Better than the built-in wireless network detector, though those undetected by the built-in ones would most probably not be of any use (insufficient signal strength for a decent connection).

1Password - FREE
eWallet - $9.99
mSecure - $2.99
Password managers. Personally I prefer 1Password as it has an auto-fill feature in its built-in browser. Even at sites that it fails to auto-fill, a column will show on top with your log-in information. However, its built-in browser does not sync with Safari's cookies and all. It also doesn't support multiple pages IINM.
eWallet and mSecure seems quite alike to me, but I never really got to use much of it as I'm just too used to auto-filling (Roboform on my PC for years now). These two allows you to keep other information such as credit card information, bank accounts information, etc. encrypted. 1Password is only for website log-ins.

Graphing Calculator - FREE
A 2D graphing calculator. It's decent, though I feel kind of limited as its y variable can only be linear.

PCalc Lite - FREE
A more comprehensive calculator than the built-in one.

Wiki Mobile - $2.99
Pretty obvious - A Wikipedia app. There's a number of free ones out there, though from the reviews I just went for this.

WordBook English Dictionary & Thesaurus - $3.99
A pretty good dictionary app. Pronunciation available offline. Two other variations of better pronunciation available via Internet.

myLite - FREE
Flashlight - FREE
Torch - FREE
Variations of flashlight apps. myLite and Flashlight offers several variations of lights. Personally I prefer myLite for its ease of use. Prefer Torch when all I want is just a white light.

Crazy Pumpkin - FREE
What its name says. A crazy pumpkin.

Notespark - $4.99
Syncs notes through the Internet. Able to view, edit and delete on the iPod touch. Synced notes will be available offline. Connection to their server may be slow at times (I believe this is Streamyx's issue). Decent, but probably not really worth the price.

iHandy Carpenter - $1.99
Bought it 'cause I thought it's pretty cool. Has 5 tools: plumb bob, bubble level bar, steel protractor and steel ruler. Wonder if it'll actually come in to practical use one day..

FullBrowser - FREE
A web browser that displays websites full-screen (tap to show address bar and bottom back, forward and refresh buttons). Doesn't share cookies with Safari though, and no multi-page.

Free Memory 1.4 - $0.99
Frees up memory (RAM) of your iPod touch when it is below 20MB. Works pretty well.

WritePad - FREE
A decent text editor.

Google Mobile App - FREE
Basically a shortcut to Google's variation of services.

PayPal - FREE
PayPal on-the-go. Rather limited, probably better to just log-in at Safari.

iXpenseIt - $4.99 (Lite available)
Balance - FREE
Expense trackers. Haven't utilized them

TapDefence is my favorite game so far!

fieldrunners is good but i have to wait for my itunes gift card...

It's a app where you can read 10+ Classic genre books. GREAT user interface with just 0.99 USD. I just bought it. It's so cheap for so many books and it will update more books in the future. Definitely worth it and highly recomended.

1) Trace - very nice game .. 100's of levels so you won't finish the game so quickly ... gameboy/classic like game ... can draw and play at the same time ... erm dunno how to explain juz dl it haha

2) ESPN cameraman - Ever played PHOTOHUNT ? .. or aka "SPot the difference game" ? This is exactly it Updates pretty often to include new photos too !

3) MotionX Dice - Much of a gambler ? Practice Sic-Bo at home

4) Blackjack Teacher - Gambler again ? Always wanted to learn that perfect move ? This is the app for you

5) Eyetricks - just for fun ... shows a few optical illusion things and explained properly ...

6) Balance - I use this for the money management things ... free and quite ok la so far .. no problem

depends on the game, if its free, then don't need to pay. if there's a price (e.g. $0.99) then thats the price u pay. same goes for non-game applications

eh tht, dictionaire is really good, i've been using it ever since i got my ipod from u hehe
try using translator too, if you ever need to go out of this country to another whose language you don't know. needs wifi though.

Balance? it's a free app and quite simple.

Hey, those of u who were Palm users in the past should go for Bejeweled 2, which was introduced to the iPhone and touch platforms this year... It is one of my favorite games of all time (more so than tetris! ) and btw, check out my review of the game in the iTunes Store...

It's crazy, but Apple calls everything an app on the iPhone.

Imagine you walk into a Low Yat store looking for GTAIV, the samseng sales guy (actually they have to be samseng to be working in those stores) tell you: that is not called a game, that is called an APP. What about Nero Burning ROM? you ask him. Also APP lah, he snaps. What about Windows XP? Also APP! Will that be all?

Then you think: wah lao wei, why can't games be just games and apps are more like Microsoft Office. And why can't apps be proper business programs that give you 1/2 of equivalent usability as a desktop computer version? Ok maybe even 1/2 is too much, since this is a handphone software, so how about 1/4? No, apparently a USD9 "app" can't give you even that, because the developer can't give a shite. It's only 9 bucks, what do you want it to do for f--k's sake?

Everything is an app on the iPhone. And sometimes those apps can be simple webpages wrapped into a little program icon that sits on your welcome page. When activated it goes to the requested website, retrieve some trivial javascript function, then spits it back out on the iPhone. Thank you very much for your 9 bucks.

There's even an "app" called "pull my finger". Whatever happen to your little baby boy that follow you around, and you pay the little guy 20 sens, he pulls out a finger, you pull it and he produces the appropriate sound?

BTW your "app" collection is not complete without Brothers in Arms, Hero of Sparta and Asphalt 4: Elite Racing.

Incidentally all the games above look a whole lot nicer on the PSP and NDS, and will function better with proper controllers. But what people don't know won't kill them.

It's PAID app. But if you compare with the Anatomy book that's selling outside, it still worths the price

I will NEVER put Bejewelled into my iPod or iPhone (if I ever do get one)...

i see will it drain it's battery? because its similar game like Tap Tap Revenge will drain your touch alot

I think Guitar Rock Tour will drain more battery than Tap Tap Revenge. Mainly because of it's awesome graphic, sound and loading time.

Guitar Rock Tour I give 4 out of 5. There's something lack in it. maybe just on the eyes of the beholder. I just cant get out of Guitar Hero.

guys , to use the apps mentioned in this thread , do you have to use firmware 2.0 or newer ? did you guys pay to upgrade your firmware ?

i think it depends on the app itself. some apps state there, that its only meant for ipod touch 2nd gen, and some apps don't.

I just notice some bugs in Guitar Rock Tour. In some songs, even though I tap the right key at the right time, the system won't recognize my touch. Thus, make me can't do a full combo for a song, even NORMAL one!

Warfare incorporated is an rts game. Looks good to me.

there's another title that plays like Bejeweled... ChocChocPop Lite... i tried it and kinda like it, coz it gives a little bit of twist to the original game... some example would be when u run out of moves, you can use a special item to remove a tile to continue playing... give it a try... AppStore, FREE...

ultimate noob question, how to remove app that i don't need anymore from my ipod touch?

The same way you move them around, just press and hold till they shake, then just press the X on the app that you want to delete.

finally i can buy apps,tv shows n music at itunes..btw,monopoly n uno really good games..

I just got Bloomberg, I like it cause it allows offline reading. Basically it downloads selected category of news, market etc and stores it for reading any time later.
