Cube... full quake style fps, but controls are hard. free though.

What's the song list for Guitar Rock Tour like?

also on a kinda unrelated note, can i download any extra media players? want to play avi files. if not can recommend a good free converter?

hehehe I've just been on an app spending spree the past few days, here's what I thought of my buys:

Galcon - Really slick real-time risk style gameplay, take over planets and wipe out the enemy. Downside, is it cost $3 (on sale, 50%), which I didn't mind as I enjoyed the lite version so much, but I would say stick to the lite version, as the full only adds a few simple new game modes (such as making enemies invisible and other very basic ideas) and online play.

Wolfenstein 3D Classic - A straight port of the grandfather of FPS games. Fun if you feel like some old FPS goodness. on sale at $2

Bloons - Loved the flash game (available wherever there are internets), so got it straight away. Lives up to the original, controls are slightly imprecise sometimes thou.

Glyder - If you like flying games, you have to buy this. All the levels are contained in one massive overworld, above average graphics, tons of achievements to do and secrets to unlock. on sale at .99

Doodle jump - had this one a while but thought it deserved a mention, one of the best pick up and play games in the app store. My highscore is 32235 =D

Leaf Trombone - I'm not sure what to make of this app. It's essentially Guitar Hero done right on the touch, song library is composed by the users and continually updated online (you can download your favs, fast speed too). But I just can't get over a) the annoying whiny sound made by the 'leaf trombone' and b) the controls. The notes come sideways, and you slide up and down, or tap at the right place, to play. Online play is available and performance is given a score by other online users who are judges. worth checking out at .99

thanks playboy, I appreciate the positive feedback =)
might write a few more later.

Just thought I'd add a final thought on Glyder as I've just finished it. One thing that really makes this game stand out (aside for the great value for money) is the level design and variety. You get to explore everything from sunken underwater caverns, to a clockwork satellite in the sky that houses a tiny domed town atop it. On top of this, the graphics and beautiful skyline makes exploring the levels even better.

also has anyone bought Alien Abuse yet?

On another note, I just got "Must.Eat.Birds". Very nice game for US$0.99, very nice graphics and just fun to play

I got it too, it's reallly nice =D well worth a dollar. the faux Japanese design suits the game really well, and the soundtrack is catchy without being annoying

Also just got F.A.S.T. on sale 80% off, seems good so far, definitely worth getting it at the reduced price if you want a dog fighting game. Only complaint so far is that the menu doesnt look as nice and polished as some =P

I got Mevo and the Grooveriders yesterday, and I don't think I've ever been more disappointed with an app. It's a game that puts itself somewhere between Mario and Guitar Hero, keep the rhythm to progress thru the platform style level.

There are only 3 songs, meaning completing the game takes about 15 min, 45 if you try every song on every difficulty. The levels themselves are uninspiring: you run from left to right on one dimension, jumping up and down ledges, onto monsters to bridge gaps, and slide along. No cool combo monster killing or dynamic level paths that depend on how well you play or anything you might hope for.
Controls were an issue for me, as there is only left and right beats, plus the buttons are tiny. Because there's a huge power-up bar dominating the middle of the bottom that holds your 3 power-ups, all of which do the same thing.

The game stinks, playing it feels like finding a treasure chest with a curry puff in it. Sure it's delicious, but you were hoping for treasure, not a little snack.
Hopefully it'll get buffed up a little with new updates, as it's greatest weakness is that it's just far far too short and slightly on the easy side.

Hi guys .. anyone using any good translator / dictionary app that can translate simple sentences between languages ? I'm looking something similar to babelfish by yahoo but that's of course online only ..

I've found 1 app for free ( forgot the name and my touch is out of battery after installing that app haha ) ... does everything good BUT needs to be connected to the internet to use ... susah la like tat ...

Would be great if someone know of similar app that does it OFFLINE .. don't mind the price coz i'll travel alot for work to "non-english" places

If you only need 1 specific language to another, there's a number of dictionaries available (mostly paid) that don't require an internet connection, and have gotten some good reviews.
There's also iTranslate which offers a number of specific dictionaries and and ultimate version (which has a lite version). You can only translate with an internet connection, but you can save some phrases for later.

I'm particularly interested with Thai and German for now .. do you have any experience / recommendations ?

iTranslate is the one I've got, can't seems to "save some phrases for later" like u've said. HOWEVER, I've found this another app called "myLanguage" which does stuff like you said, you need a connection to search but the results are saved in your touch ... pretty neat ..

If anyone has other suggestion for all-in-one OFFLINE translation map, kindly recommend me thanks ! Else myLanguage seems okay for now

Sorry, no experience to offer yet, just been checking out translators for a trip in Europe. iTranslate has an ultimate edition (just search itranslate ultimate) which offers 5 dictionaries, it's 80% off at 2USD at the moment; but there's no Thai so don't know if it's any use to you. The lite version of the ultimate seems worth a download at least, as I couldn't find any limitations in the software, just ads.

edit: just found a free thai-english dictionary called "Thai Dict" that says it can be used offline: haven't managed to check it out yet though, ipod isnt with me

What's the deal with Beejive IM?
Everyone says it's super highly recommended.... but is it really better than the free alternatives? =S
I want to download and try, but I'm happy using Fring so a bit reluctant to waste money..

hehe also has anyone else noticed that camera related applications seem to rocket to the the top of the app store without going thru the top ten, then fall off just as quickly?
which is made even weirder when you think that the touch doesn't have a camera (yet =P) so at least 25% of app store users won't be downloading it (I actually have no idea what the ratio of iphone to ipod touch users is but I think 25% is a lowish estimate)

I only bring it up because pretty soon after "Asian Boobs" made number 1, "Camera Genius" seemed to appear out of nowhere to take the number 1 slot... (I'm pretty sure "Flash for Free" has just done something similar in the Free top 10 list as well, although you don't need a camera for that)

Can the mod that deleted my initial post about the App "Asian Boobs" please explain the reason behind it's deletion as it seems petty

lol, i've not seen nor heard of that app, but come on, it has something to do with boobs right? If yes, it should not be posted here, maybe somewhere else as this is a section where there are many young members seeking help on their iPod's. I'm sorry if the app has a different functionality, but my guess is that it contains material that is not suitable for all ages, which should be the reason why it was swept off this thread.

I would agree this is a totally valid reason, but I was only pointing out that it had reached number 1 in the (Malaysian) app store, which I found quite humorous. And the fact that it's still on the top 10 means that those younger members have a high chance of seeing it anyway even if I don't explicitly point it out

That I definitely agree with, as most iPod users would definitely check the top apps, but by posting or informing others regarding the app with explicit content, i'm sure more people would have the urge to check it out, especially the young ones. We can't blame anyone if they check the App Store top apps chart, but we for one can reduce the amount of explicit apps downloaded by youngsters. I don't even know if my reply makes any sense because i'm dead sleepy, but I hope you get my point of view on this issue. Again, no hard feelings, just voicing my opinion mate

Yea that makes sense, if those are the rules then I apologize and in future shall refrain from mentioning such topics =P
Although any mods passing by, just consider the redundancy of forbidding discussion of material easily accessible in the subject of discussion (and also the internet in general). Perhaps the rules need a tiny little rethink to be brought more inline with those of the app store. Although I also do acknowledge that this probably won't happen for the same reasons as Playboy mentioned (what a great name for this discussion btw =P)
