Thx WanderX,

I have taken a look n google ard for bth D60 n canon 1000D..Both quite decent entry DSLR; Yet I still a bit curious on Olympus E-420 which i stumble at lelong.the following r da link----->
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

BTW, another offer at 1000D form lelong-->
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The price quite tempting, yet i dun fin any IS feature on E-420(or i maybe just miss it)... So, does Olympus offer lens like Nikon where its lens got bulit in motor thingy?

N Omlypus use Zuiko lens with a think might quite a little limited choice compared to Nikon n Canon.(correct me if i wrong). Zuiko lens quite alien to me; so is it reliable?

Soli, i might seem a bit too persistent toward Olympus, but feel free to recommend any other brands.
*
IS is in lens for the lenses I think.

Anyway, Zuiko lens is EXTREMELY unpopular. Even Olympus DSLR users opt for other 3rd party lenses like Sigma or Tamron because of the unavailability of lenses, and they aren't as good compared to the Canon or Nikon lenses, that's why we recommend you to get a D60 or a 1000D.

Olympus is an ok-ok brand for digital cameras, but a no-no for DSLRs.

notworthy.gif Thx for all da advices, notworthy.gif I far more clear now.

I think i can start survey for good bargain for D60 or 1000D. but now i get another dilemma rclxub.gif ; I can't reli make up my minds. i read few side by side comparisons for both DSLR. Both hav almost da same features. Pricing also no big gap. I scare i finally end up compare both pricing only n regret l8r on. doh.gif

i plan to stick/tag along one brand to save da hassle of switch which is also would be costly l8r on.

BTW, i also read be4 sumwhere in LYN tat dere r warranty 4 stolen or dropped DSLR? is ta true? N between Canon n Nikon, which offer better aftersale service?

This is an extremely bigoted statement.
Unlike Canon or Nikon where their camera bodies only accept lenses that have their own specific mount, Olympus is trying to create a universal mount where one can fit lenses by different manufacturers. And given the fact that this system was only introduced fairly recently as compared to Canon's EF mount or Nikon's F mount, the range of Four Thirds lenses would be considerably smaller.
But given time, this range will increase and probably surpass that of Canon's and Nikon's, since manufacturers will be competing for the same consumers.
And, Olympus DSLRs have sensor based Image Stabilization, not lens based.
The E-420 does not have IS while the bigger E-520 does have.

Better to get 1000D to start off, and get another lens.

Given time, you have mentioned it. Anyway, I do not base my statements on what I believe only - I have read about these before and thus then only I can comment.

Talking about the present, there's not a wide range of Zuiko lenses and you can see that it is still very unpopular as 99% of the shops I walk into don't sell those lenses. What's for the future, happens in the future.

I'm looking for my first DSLR. I've read a number of reviews on them, but seeing that I know little about DSLRs, I can't really judge which is better.
Although I am pretty attracted to Canon's 1000D, can you give me a better comparison with other brand (Sony, Olympus, Nikon)'s entry-level DSLR? Which one would better worth my money? tongue.gif

Sony + Olympus, the lenses are hard to get as they're newbies to the DSLR market. Settling with Canon or Nikon would be better as you can upgrade later on without any worries.

Get the Panasonic Lumix FZ28. Best for your budget. If you can fork out RM300+- more, you can get an LX3.

Any specific features u want? : Cant decide between these 2, I love the FF of the 5d and some of the new features the Digic 4 gives.

But I also like the 1.3 focal length conversion, super high fps for candid and also the many many AF points of the 1D mk3

Sifu here notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

We cannot help you la. If you like point A of product A and point B of product B, you'll just have to compare the pros and cons already.

A good thing to do is to list out what you think is good in the 1D MkIII, and then the 5D MkII, and then compare both lists. Which one has more advantages? Are these advantages beneficial or just for showing purpose? Are they really going to help you make the most out of your lenses?

You have to do the thinking on your own because it's your money.

SLR? To point and shoot?

I'd recommend you go for a prosumer first, get used to it, get fond with it, get experience from it and then only consider a DSLR.

In my opinion you should get a Lumix FZ28, or if you can increase your budget a bit, get the Lumix LX3.

G10 is not a semi pro camera.
It's just a high end compact camera with a lot of features.

Hi guys, i love to take photograph every where i go, but my current camera cannot not satisfy me. Im using Sony T-200 now but the image produced is not nice. So i would like to try DSLR cameras. However, i totally have no idea about DLSR cameras. So i want a simple DSLR but yet packed with lots of features. Nvm the lens kit which allows u to zoom farther or whatsoever...coz i juz take photos at normal distance.

Type of camera/lens/accesories: DSLR
Budget: Below RM1000.00 to RM2000.00
Your Location: Kota Kinabalu
Preferable brand : no idea....u suggest
Type of photography u want to do : outdoor, shooting nice scene, potrait
Any specific models in mind? : Lx3
Any specific features u want? : erm..like enables u to focus on 1 object so that the background is blurred. yea i knw...most SLR are able to do this.

First things first. The LX-3 isn't a DSLR. So if what you're interested in is something like the LX-3, you're probably looking for a high end compact camera that's packed with tons of features. Or if you WANT something that looks like a DSLR but not so complicated and expensive, you could look into bridge cameras.

About that feature that you wanted. Even the camera that you're using now can produce those kind of shots if you know how to. It doesn't depend on the type of camera used. It only depends on the aperture used when the shot was taken.
