QUOTE(SevereSuffering @ Dec 15 2008, 12:41 AM) If I'm not mistaken Panasonic LX3 goes for much more than RM1500. And according to this digitalcamerainfo.com the LX3 performs average in comparison to its high price. I've never even touched one before though so wait for more expertise on this biased review LX3 is cheaper than g10 & ricoh Gx200 RM1520 can get LX3 + 4GB SDHC + pouch + mini tripod + sp |

QUOTE(Carlos_XP @ Dec 20 2008, 01:19 AM) Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR if u not intend to buy any lens / flash. better go for high end compact such as LX3.Budget: <RM 2000 Your Location: KL Preferable brand : Canon (or any equally as good model(s) ) Type of photography u want to do : All-rounders Any specific models in mind? : EOS 1000D Any specific features u want? : nope...... my current camera finally broke on me....which further fires me up to grab a new one....as a ex-powershot owner,i enjoy tinkering here and there with settings, which a dslr comes into mind. however...i have few doubts to clear.hopefully can solve it here lah.... 1) Judging from the budget i have...i found that i could afford either (a) a high end compact camera. or (b) an entry level dslr. since my photography preferences are all-rounders. a high end compact seemed more cost effective to me (such as zoom, macro capabilities, and maybe wide angle).although these situation can be fixed simply by changing lens on DSLR....but i do not have few thousands laying around waiting for me to spend there...although i do impress of what a DSLR can do....but how far could i go with kit lens? (which should be 18-55mm for 1000D Kit) 2)Based on several sources there are 2 point on 1000D that bothers me with cheaper A 200 i) 7-point AF Point (1000D) vs. 9-point AF (A200) ii) without (1000D) spot metering vs. with (A200) iii) CMOS sensor (1000D) vs. CCD Sensor (A 200) as i'm not very into DSLR thingies (but do know bit theory about those technical jargon lah) do you think problems above makes a lot of difference to me? and in what kind of situation? appreciate all help from you sifus the fast lens on LX3 allows u to shoot at much lower ISO than the kitlens on DSLR. DSLR is bulky, u won't bring or use it quite as often. else if get DSLR, go for 1000D. its high iso performance is much better than a200. and u can get a cheap 50mm f/1.8 for lowlight shooting. if u gonna buy cheap long zoom lens, a200 in-body image stabilizer will help alot. QUOTE(qiuhuek @ Jan 17 2009, 01:50 AM) Thanks for your comment. Probably I will get a Nikon D60 as my CNY gift & bring it along to Bali on end of March. i would advice u get 1000D instead. or save more for d80.Happy Chinese New Year. d60 can't autofocus with 50mm f/1.8 no live view on d60 3 focus point vs 1000d 7 This post has been edited by daruma: Jan 17 2009, 09:56 AM |

QUOTE(lokgotz @ Mar 5 2009, 02:32 AM) Type of camera/lens/accesories : Professional PnS if u intend to use SB900 for indoor pic, sure P6000 will get better result.Budget: I have the models in mind, see below Your Location: KL Preferable brand : Canon, Panasonic, Nikon Type of photography u want to do : N/A Any specific models in mind? : Canon G10, Panasonic LUMIX LX3, Nikon Coolpix P6000 Any specific features u want? : Long story, see below. I am a DSLR user currently using a Nikon D90. I need a smaller camera to carry around and I'm looking at the Nikon Coolpix P6000 as I can use my SB-900 with it. My dilemma now is that I've read a few reviews on the P6000 and most of the reviewers said that the P6000 is not as good as the G10 and the LX3. If I get something other than the P6000, I won't be able to utilize my SB900 fully (sync only, correct me if wrong). I know a lot of people are using the G10 and the LX3 in the forums but I'm not sure if any of you have experience with all three models. I can get my hands on the LX3 and the G10 to test but I won't be able to get the P6000 via my sources. Please don't ask me to test it myself at the camera shop as I need feedback from actual users and I think the camera shop will mind if I test the cameras there for a few hours and end up buying only one. So I'm asking the good people here, do you guys have any personal experience with ALL THREE cameras? Is the P6000 as bad as what they said in the reviews? but most place dun welcome flashgun |
