actually, not all software need to reinstall. things like garmin will reinstall on its own provided u dont wipe out the My Storage where the garmin folder is kept. The other software, think its a good idea to install, cos most of us install many things and then uninstall them when we dont like it. Hence, with an upgrade of firmware, its like a reformat to get rid of those unwanted installs so that you can install just the programs u want without worrying about unwanted programs not completely uninstalled from your system.

And besides, i recommend keeping 2 copies of your cab files for your important programs. One in a specific folder on your PC and the other in My Storage on your omnia. makes reinstalling easier. Dont delete after install and it will always be there no matter how many times u upgrade your firmware.

if u wan go official, then DZHK3
if u wan use leaked rom, DZHL2
or u wan use custom cooked rom, can find in modaco forum

i can not tell u which rom suit ur omnia best, cos omnia are all the same
wat makes it different is how the omnia owner/user customise the interface, make some tweaks to boost performance and other stuff which will make it easier for them to use.

firmware upgrades normally fix bugs in previous firmware, but new bugs might appear too.

there is owes a risk in upgrading. don mention cooked rom, even if u r using official firmware, u still got the 50% 50% chances of bricking ur phone.

i juz follow exactly same as the instructions given by fellow omnia guru at modaco.....install samsung driver, using xp,activesync 4.5 etc...after reaching 100% my omnia stuck on "samsung logo" & nothing happen for an hour....so i soft reset but nothing hapen also,so i unplug the cable,take out battery put it back in and presto! dead omnia!! can never power on again.....only got red light at the "power" button.....guess im the unlucky one..

anyone know how to set the camera brightness setting not to be auto/balance? cause i know how to change registry for ISO to "save previous setting", but can't find any registry to set the "brightness"...

it works for me~ using HK1~
check out that the location are correct and same as my location in gps garmin

yup,no ap set in sg.
u go sg ask for ap set they will garu garu kepala....haha
all sg set will have samsung sg sticker

works for me. its just that sometimes it takes time to get a fix. Even worked on the earlier ROM i had on before i upgraded. just go to a clear area and wait awhile till the satellite dish logo turns green

yalo...all this while samsung phone is like that,haven't heard of any setting can be alter to overcome that...soft ring then sudden loud...

dude....im only using J1 now and before this i was using G3. Dont think its your rom problem, but you could try and upgrade and see. btw, does your garmin/mapking work well?

HG2 to HK3 my gps improves like a lot...
with xtra disabled,can lock within 5min...gud enuf for me!!
