official rom - upgrade, warranty still valid
leaked rom - upgrade n ur omnia KONG, u send to warranty, tak boleh claim warranty sebab u sudah void warranty
FMG set mana mana ROM pun boleh upgrade. depends on u only

how come i go samsung website but cant find the latest firmware de?

after flashing,"my device" still remains,but all the programs such as garmin i suppose u need to reinstall.

actually tat is not true,i tried upgrade with leaked/custom rom before n "kong" my omnia....totally cannot power up..so i send back to claim warranty...changed the new mobo,according to them.took about 2 weeks to return my omnia back..so now i only update with official rom(recently),safer n chances of bricking it is lower....
so conclusion is(based on my experience), as long as ur omnia is FMG set then u can update any rom(custom/leak/official) u wan & still can claim warranty if brick......of coz when u claim warranty dun tell them u try to update leak rom...hahaha...

samething happend to me also... dont worry FMG dont know what rom we install. once ur phone "kong". they just repair it. u can say... mana i tahu i try upgrade rom from samsung website... tiba tiba kong..... (make sure u make muka 10sen) sure fmg percaya u...

wah...itu la fmg..semua tak kesian langsung kat dia orang..
payah mereka dibuat kita...haha

i was afraid i void my warranty

actually they should create a "search this thread" button in this forum.easier for all of us to search without having to read the entire page...if got 30++ and above pages then die loh like tat...

Added on January 5, 2009, 8:32 amyes u can and juz be careful,try not to brick ur omnia in the process.....i bricked mine the 1st day i bought it..hahah morning went to buy omnia & at night flash rom = terus kong!! !@#$% !!!! i was so sad.....havent really fully test the phone yet....sigh..then send to claim warranty....2 weeks without omnia..to make matter worse, my gf went to get xperia x1 & everyday flaunting tat device in my face...

hahaha... wat a tragic. so far i haven brick my omnia yet due tat i got no balls to use leaked rom...
anyway, r the chances high of bricking the phone? wat did u do tat cause the phone to brick

Bravo..what a diligent guys you are. Updating ROM eventhough need extra effort to reinstall software.

Mine still the ori SG set with DXHG2.
Afraid to upgrade. If trouble need to pay RM100 at Samsung Svce Ctr Fed Hwy. Or go to Singapore. Uwa.....
