hi i plan to get omnia under sg warranty..can somebody advise if there will be any trouble then
*
no problems dude......just that if u have a warranty claim....u just may have to go back to sg to get it fixed....probably on a weekday at that.....and another trip to collect it again...

or u could get it serviced here.....for a fee that is

LG Renoir? what kind of name is that?
that so sounds like a perfume though,
hahahaha
*
apparently its supposed to be as artistic as the painter.....lolz
and they're giving away 100 units for a no obligations trial at PWTC....

almost same spec as omnia......except 8MP camera with xenon flash and SK optics , smaller 3.0" screen, and no WM; uses LG operating system; added dolby sound support.

really recommended if u use SPB Mobile Shell 2.1.. thumbup.gif
*
dont really know about that.......few things u need to know about spb mobile shell is that it drains your battery faster. And it has some problems with the keylock feature.

It makes the screen a little less responsive and has some lag. And the samsung interface although not 'cool' is actually easier to use. The only thing i miss about not having spb shell is the battery meter.

Anyway, this is just from my experience using spb shell. not using it anymore and i'm happier.

didn't notice that it wasn't an omnia, actually i just copied the one from the old thread. I'll find a new one soon tongue.gif

regarding the latest ROM, u can't actually check the FW, u'll only see it from the download link itself. and as far as i know the official ROM was DXHJ1 but suddenly it is back to DXHH3. the latest leaked ROM is DXHK1, for the link u have to scroll a few pages back smile.gif
*
yup....official rom from samsung website for malaysia is curently HH3. I dloaded HJ1 from the website two weeks ago....but now its reverted back for some reason....dont have any probs with my HJ1... dont think it is a faulty firmware...strange

erhmmmmmm mine ar? the side peeling lor but just abit ler, i didnt even bother to tell zagg and ask them for a replacement, its gonna take forever laugh.gif
haha yes dirt around especially for each corner of the shield smile.gif For warranty claim i think u need to register ur IS on the website first if not mistaken.
*
u know what.....its exactly the same with mine.....and thats not dirt, thats actually the glue that sticks the IS to the phone....and it will peel....trust me...

its perfect only after u have just applied it.

Talked to tan_alliance. said he will do the warranty claims for me for RM10. Gonna exchange mine next week.

yes....you would have to register....but the thing is that....they dont make much fuss...i just told them about it and they said ok. they give me a replacement. just have to pay for postage. Condition is that i send them back the old shield once i receive the new one.

wish malaysian companies were like that.....lolz...here they would ask you to prove that it is not your fault first...any small clause u violate....thats it....no warranty.

I am not sure this whether this info is useful to you. I have done a lot of roll back of firmwares on other electronic devices. A firmware usually contains its version code and when you try to update a firmware your device will compare what is already installed to the firmware you intend to install. The device will not allow you to install an older version of firmware. This is what to are facing now.

However there is a way to get around this. All firmware codes are written in Hex decimal. What I have done previously ( not on Omnia firmware) is to use a Hex Editor to edit the version of the older firmware you wish to install to appear to be a newer version, thus tricking the device to think that you are installing a newer version.

I have briefly checked the HJ1 firmware with an Hex Editor but were unable to find the location of the version code in the firmware. If I have more time later I will try again.
*
i never knew that this was possible. I always thought that if u updated up, there is no way to downgrade, except to wait for a newer upgrade. It does seem plausible but i take your word that u have done it before. On what phone/device may i ask?

Be sure to update us regarding this ya.. It would be a neat trick to have.

It is 16gb according to their website here http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/promo/dec08/pri_...g.jsp?s=ccpromo.

Some one just opened another thread asking which of Xperia, Omnia or Iphone is better and the input is Xperia....What's the Omnia guru's take on it?
*
of course in an omnia thread......ppl will say omnia better rite....but its up to you...

The price by the credit card co is ok..but remember that your purchase, even if from a retailer can be opted a 24 month installment plan for some credit cards, so if u can get it cheaper elsewhere, u still can get the installment plan plus pay less!

Even looking at the new phones in the market, i think i would still prefer the omnia. This includes the new HTC Touch HD, the X1, as well as the I phone. The I phone is rubbish in my opinion other than being an icon of a fruit. But the others are valid options. Though i dont think you could get the spec sheet, the slim form factor and the 16GB internal storage all present in any of the options except the omnia. Each of the others have sacrificed one or the other.

It is still a thin, light, and good looking phone, with and endless feature list and a camera i just love!

Its completely finger operable, hence i dont use my stylus at all and the input modes are good.

Bravo..what a diligent guys you are. Updating ROM eventhough need extra effort to reinstall software.

Mine still the ori SG set with DXHG2.
Afraid to upgrade. If trouble need to pay RM100 at Samsung Svce Ctr Fed Hwy. Or go to Singapore. Uwa.....
*
actually, not all software need to reinstall. things like garmin will reinstall on its own provided u dont wipe out the My Storage where the garmin folder is kept. The other software, think its a good idea to install, cos most of us install many things and then uninstall them when we dont like it. Hence, with an upgrade of firmware, its like a reformat to get rid of those unwanted installs so that you can install just the programs u want without worrying about unwanted programs not completely uninstalled from your system.

And besides, i recommend keeping 2 copies of your cab files for your important programs. One in a specific folder on your PC and the other in My Storage on your omnia. makes reinstalling easier. Dont delete after install and it will always be there no matter how many times u upgrade your firmware.

I'm not sure whether this has been discussed or not..read the previous thread half thru..can't make it to the last..too long..pheww..

but can someone actually make the geotag really functioning? I have read some post in other forum, they have the same problem as well..anyone knows whether the new ROM solve this prob?
*
works for me. its just that sometimes it takes time to get a fix. Even worked on the earlier ROM i had on before i upgraded. just go to a clear area and wait awhile till the satellite dish logo turns green

been trying to figure that out myself as well. It seems to automatically go into my documents without any prompting to select the location to save.

Heya Omnians, Ive got a question to ask.

Does this phone have a camera at the front of the phone. Where you can take a picture of yourself while viewing the picture being taken on the phone screen.

I hope you guys know what i'm talking about.
*
Front camera is only activated during video call. The camera toggle would not activate the front camera. I think only the S60 devices can use the front camera to take pics as well.

get it to the service centre. If you have tried everything and you still cant, dont waste any more of your time on it. The guys at the centre will know what to do. Get some rest and dont worry. It will be fine.
