To Tun Mega and Boss (mpyw) & other HT fanatics ,

Good for your reading before your HT room makeover :

This should be good for you : http://www.audioholics.com/education/acous...oom-rives-audio

And the rest :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resonant_room_modes

http://www.audioholics.com/education/acous...-room-acoustics

http://www.audioholics.com/education/acous...-trapping-ideas

There are many articles to read but just don't blow your head over it. Start from the basic first. Slowly but surely.

I can't get wait for your HT room lah (hiding load of poisons)

You should do a FR graph and maximise your Axiom. Seriously. Then again, once you found out the dip (inevitable), a bit bor shuang. HM's approval for those unsightly traps and treatment is not easy. Or shall I say near to impossible sweat.gif

Bro, nope. I guess that I have been missing a lot of things previously sad.gif . Even w/o room treatment, it sounded good but not at its best (at least to my aging ears).

My room is bad as it is 10' x 20' but it did not sounds as bad as it should  sweat.gif  Now, I only need to get some bass trap (to get a flatter FR curve). Any peak in the FR is coloration, which in turn camouflage the details of other sound.

You guys should do a FR graph too to enjoy your system better. Then again, once you knew the peaks and valleys (no escape on this for most untreated room esp open space), you will be itching to minimise it.

The bass is even cleaner, and tauter now.

Taukeh megatron007, bila mau datang?  tongue.gif

Now, I truly appreciate the importance of room treatment.

Looks like getting SVS sub is not the end of story and be happy. A lot of tuning needed. Might come into extra cost if room treatment is needed sweat.gif

Anyway I believed the end result will be rewarding.
*
I believe tuning is necessary for any sub (not just SVS) in order to get the best integration with the room. Even if don't want to explore room acoustic treatment, at the least should play around with sub positioning.

Yes, spot on smile.gif

But with sub positioning, it will yields improvement (may be a lot depending on the room and location) but not at its best. Let's face it. I bet 99% (or 99.9%) of us do not have an ideal room for acoustic purposes (be it music or movie) wink.gif This is mainly due WAF and those unsightly treatments.

arremie, you should ask when s6xs9x is free to pay a visit to ycs's Ht room. I believe that his room is treated quite well. You will notice the difference the moment when you start talking in the room.

IMHO, a good setup in a bad room is as bad as a good room with a bad setup.

I agree 100%. But I just never had the time to do it everyday. When I got my sub, I spent 2-3 days finding sweet spots, tuning, Audysseying, but in the end I just had to compromise because my setup is in the living room. I'm the kind of guy that's more busy at home than at work. sweat.gif

Not like I have to do all the chores, but I always plan activities with my family especially during weekends. I have a few hours for myself, but those usually spent listening music and watching BDs.

blink.gif fuyooo!!!! Then again, not a big prob to him since he has amass >250 BDs. Record holder still belongs to Tun for over >350 BDs. Maybe breach 400 mark by now.

arremie, I am going to test RPG and not that. I have 4 huge 1" thick foam with rubberised back. Just brought home 'some stuff' for my treatment.
