Bro, please bear with me for the mean time. Hopefully, the full list will be out by next Friday. Still waiting for the transportation charges to work out the price.

lightning69,

My advise to you would be to use this software called REW and run you sub and your mains together. This will help to identify if there is a problem. Pls pm me if you need help. Another thing to note is what is the settings on the AVR. Was Audyssey run? Maybe the internal trims are set too low.

I don't have Audyssey, How do I use REW software? What hardware do I need to run REW?

You need a laptop/desktop, a soundcard with line out and line in (not mic in) and some cables. Do a google search on REW. It is pretty easy to use, what you will get is a set of graphs showing your room response to a frequency sweep. You can move your sub around and see what is the most neutral integration with your fronts.

It is a powerful tool, either that or use the test tones and move the sub around and measure with the SPL meter in your primary seating position.

I got a setup problem need expert advice here?

I did my calibration with the SPL meter base on the instruction on the setup manual provided by SVS.  I set all my speakers to 75db with my AVR main volume at 0 with the pink noise from my Denon AVR3805. Then I set the PC12-Plus to 80db with the AVR sub volume to 25% and the volume knob on the SVS at roughly 9 O clock position.  With this setting I play some music and movies and the bass is just too soft.  I have to turn the volume knob on the PC12-Plus to 12 O clock position to get good bass.  At this volume level, my SPL meter reading for my sub is at 95 to 100db.

Did I do something wrong here.  Why is my bass so weak when its calibrated to the same level as the other speakers?

I had the same issue with my Rythmik sub. Like you I had to turn up the volume to let the stronger bass come through. I think it's something to do with the pink noise and how it is reproduced through the sub and subsequently picked up by the SPL meter.

There is another easier way if you don't want to carry your sub around. Put your sub at seating position and move around with your mic. If you get the position will less peak and valley, then that would be your best position. If you don't have mic, then you need to crawl on the floor. In NULL area, you will feel that the bass feel hollow. For peak area, you will feel the bass is very strong.

Hmmm...sound card with line in is what i don't have. Might just want to try different placement of the sub first.

I think you all might have an issue which is not because of your sub. Previously I'm having an issue as mention need to turn up the volume very high to feel the bass and kick from the system. In actual fact it's nothing wrong with sub not outputting enough bass. The problem is you lack of dynamic mid-bass (100hz to 300hz) to blend into your sub which is why you feel there is a gap in the system. My DD-12 is very dynamic and all the while the Onkyo 805 can't produce the dynamic sound to push my speaker to follow the sub. A dedicated power amp might help you to improve the integration of sub and your main speakers and improve your mid-bass punch.

What you talked about, this "lack of dynamic mid-bass" do you think it's due to the receiver or main speakers? To my thinking, better to experiment with the main speakers first, then next the amp. Of course, with enough moolah upgrade both! biggrin.gif

One thing for sure, Onkyo Receiver can't produce the dynamic sound needed. I previously own NAD T763 which is 100w per channel all driven and had quite a good amp section. The punch is better than Onkyo but doesn't come close to dedicated power amp. Previously I'm in the same boat as you whether to change my speaker first. Well, I'm making a right decision to get a separate amp as it unlock the true potential of my speaker. What speaker do you have? Why not try to loan a stereo power amp with at least 200watts per channel and try it out.

Edit: saw that your Emotiva has arrived!

I might try to see if I can loan a power amp to test out in my system. For the front I ran the PSB T55.
