I dunno but I'm wondering why JL not top 3 in the craig sub list ? with 3600W power wor.. pay so much but can't perform decent dB output at 10-20Hz wan?

I gave up trying to educate people last night. I was also given some very good advise on how I shd go for some for some chill classes. Appreciate the advise though. I believe I spend too much time trying to impart knowledge when people are not receptive. Comparing apples to oranges is the norm these days.

Yes the F113 has a built in auto EQ, but I see it is only a single band EQ that is able "to eliminate the single largest acoustic room response peak at your listening seat." This is similar to the auto EQ found in the Velo CHT-Q series. It is certainly not as sophisticated as the EQ1 or other devices like the AntiMode.

next time, keep the info on ISF video tuning, sub calibration, handheld measurement tools, software etc amongst friends...

at least you help them they are grateful or even return the favour in other ways..

Yes, sound quality includes the effect of the room. In fact some people say the room is the most important component of all...

That said, there are some things a room can do and some things it cannot do. Say you want tight, accurate bass. If you buy a boomy or looser type subwoofer can even the best room turn that into tight, accurate bass? I don't know but I suspect not. There was a thread on AVS discussing bass quality vs quantity and the thinking was if you have quality bass then you can always get more quantity by adding more of that subwoofer. However, if you start with a poorer quality subwoofer, it may have lots of quantity but even if you add more subs you only gain more quantity - you can never improve the quality. I tend to agree, but I also know the drawback to this approach is that it is likely to cost more.

The point of comparison was that the 13-Ultra does not produce enough bass (SPL in this case). So, it was brought to our attention that F113 actually goes very loud and it was like a no contest with its 3,600W (still think that this is a definite wrong info as the max is 2,500w RMS short-term. It's a sealed sub too).

For quality bass in music, IMHO I wld go for F113 but for movies with due respect F113 can't dig as low as 13-Ultra with that kind of SPL. But, I really would like to do a shootout to prove that I am dead wrong about it.

some noob question again : how u know your amp 'match' the sub? or vise versa

no need to know cos the sub got it's own amp.. just make sure your amp got sub pre outs..

And no worry on that since all av receivers come with subwoofer out.
